`12.Okt.2001` Virus Help Denmark	Virus Help Denmark: Safe V17.3 Am 10. Oktober 2001 hat Virus Help Denmark die Version 17.3 des Virus-Detektors 'Safe' von Zbigniew Trzcionkowski veröffentlicht. 'Safe' erkennt Viren, die sich im Speicher des Rechners befinden und entfernt diese, falls dies möglich ist. Gegenüber der Version 17.1 hat sich Folgendes geändert: small fixes added WatchDog 1.1 with very unknown bug fixed and improved security. added new versions of CHECK and COMP, now they support <CTRL>+C, so any wrong operation can be easily interrupted added warning: 'Safe' läuft ab AmigaOS V2.04 und benötigt die xvs.library. `12.Okt.2001` amiga.org	Prometheus: prm-rtl8029 V0.24, VNetMeter 1.1 Auf der 'Prometheus support page' wurde die Version 0.24 des Ethernet-SANA-II-Treibers 'prm-rtl8029' und die Version 1.1 des Netzwerkmonitors 'NetMeter' veröffentlicht. Die neue Version des prm-rtl8029-Treibers ist ein wenig schneller (440 kB/s) und es wurden einige Fehler korrigiert. Bei 'NetMeter' wurden Tooltypes zur Fenster-Positionierung hinzugefügt und die 'Mediator-Protection' entfernt. Dieser Netzwerkmonitor funktioniert mit einer breiten Palette an SANA-2-Treibern inklusive des Amithlon-NE2000-Treibers. Im Fall des Prometheus-Boards wird die Version 0.24 des prm-rtl8029 benötigt. `12.Okt.2001` Michael Rupp (ANF)	Workbench: TAWS - The Amiga Workbench Simulation V0.8 TAWS - The Amiga Workbench Simulation ist eine reine JavaScript-Simulation der Amiga Workbench 3.x für Win32 Internet Explorer 5 und höher. Neu in der Version 0.8 sind folgende Features: Bewegen der Icons in Fenster hinein und hinaus. Bewegen des sichtbaren Inhalts eines Fenster mittels dessen Pfeil-Symbolen Sprach-Auswahl über das Preferences-Programm. Englische Lokalisierung (ist nun der Default). Workbench-Meldungen via Titelzeile, z.B. wenn man einen Ordner in sein eigenes Fenster ziehen will. Unterstützung der Menüpunkte 'Last Message' und 'Open Parent'. `11.Okt.2001` amiga.org	AROS: IBM-PC/native auf einer Diskette vom 10. Okt. 2001 Am 10. Oktober 2001 hat Matt Parsons eine neue Version von AROS für IBM kompatible PCs veröffentlicht. Wer Interesse hat, kann diese downloaden sowie testen und die dabei gefundenen Fehler und Probleme an Matt Parsons schicken. Die neue Version lädt schneller und enthält viele kleine Demoprogramme zum Ausprobieren und Herumspielen. Ein Desktop ist bisher nicht vorhanden, dieser wird aber noch kommen. Außerdem wird es einige Utiltity-Disketten mit einem Bündel an Aminet-Programmen zum Ausprobieren geben. `11.Okt.2001` Norman Thiel (ANF)	Library: vapor_toolkit V15.11 Am 7. Oktober 2001 wurde die Version 15.11 der 'vapor_toolkit'-Library veröffentlicht. Die Library stellt Support-Funktionen zur Verfügung, die von den meisten Vapor-Applikationen benutzt werden, so dass durch diese Library die Codegröße der Applikationen vermindert werden kann. Zu den Funktionen gehören der Registrationsprozess und die Abfrage nach neuen Versionen bei vapor.com. Gegenüber der Version 15.8 hat sich Folgendes geändert: more error checking in the library initialization (Zapek) optimized memory usage for some functions (Zapek) added "html" as built-in file extension (Zapek) rewrote MIME handling functions. `10.Okt.2001` Czech Amiga News	Datenbank: XBaze V7 Am 7. Oktober 2001 hat Rafal Kaczmarczyk die Version 7 der Datenbank 'XBaze' veröffentlicht. Neu hinzugekommen ist eine englischsprachige Dokumentation und neben Bugfixes verschiedene, kleinere Verbessserungen. Alle Änderungen können der Download-Seite entnommen werden. Das Programm bietet einen leicht zu nutzenden Editor, für die Felder der Datensätze und dem Layout (Drag&Drop). Es läuft ab AmigaOS V3.0. `10.Okt.2001` Aaron Digulla (AROS-Announce-ML)	AROS: Statusreport (MorphOS, Amithlon, H&P, Amiga) Am 9. Oktober 2001 hat Aaron Digulla, AROS, in der AROS-Announce-Mailingliste folgenden Statusreport zu AROS veröffentlicht (AROS ist ein Open Source-Projekt zur Implementierung eines portablen, AmigaOS-kompatiblen Betriebssystems): «Hello, A long time since the last update but I can proudly reply that I keep the web site uptodate, now :-) Here is a short roundup what has happened since the last update: Parts of AROS are used in the MorphOS product. MorphOS gets some shared libraries which they need and we get patches to make Amiga software work :-) Two members of the MorphOS team, namely Nicholai Benalal and Emmanuel Lesueur have CVS write access and they have started to submit patches. All in all, a very good deal on both sides :-) Amithlon (Harald Frank) has also asked if they can use our sources and we gave them the same deal that MorphOS got. Still, no patches on this side. As I see it, Harald and Bernie are drowning in work :-) Good luck to them ! Neither H&P nor Amiga have asked to use our source in any of their products. I expect them to know what they do. The times when I tried to "enlighten" others are in the past :-) Good luck to them, also. On the AROS side, I can say that we have achieved a lot ! At the time of writing, the AROS CVS repository is 66MB and the contributed sources are 90MB. Commits are very frequent (in the last few weeks, there was almost no day when no one committed some of their work), so AROS is more healthy than ever. And the range of software which we have is also quite impressive: We have ported the version of DOpus which you can find on Aminet (yeah, that's old). We have Radium (http://www.notam.uio.no/~kjetism/radium/), a note editor which can also play the songs you edit with it. We have a CDROM driver, the editor XDME (which was written by me) was ported last Sunday in about 8h of work (mostly fixing ghastly code which DICE did compile for reasons unbeknownst to me ;-) and Python (http://www.python.org/), the first programming language for AROS. We also have a couple of prefs programs (Font, Locale, ReqTools, Serial) now. While AROS still lacks a lot of things and a lot of code is, well, doing only a fraction of what the original AmigaOS can do, it's still impressive to see how far we did get and that gives me a very good feeling what I look into the future. AROS Native/x86 is getting more and more stable and when a bug in the trackdisk.device is fixed (it's very slow) and a feature is implemented (it doesn't support the diskchange signal, yet, so you cannot run the demos on the contrib floppy disks), you won't only be able to boot into an AmigaOS-like system on your PC but you will at least be able to edit some prefs, save them to disk and write some texts with XDME.
