ARexx: Selection Script for Miami Everybody who wants to save money and therefore assigns his online times to several providers, knows the problem having to call in Miami the cheapest provider for the time being via "Load settings" every time. Frank Seidel has written a small ARexx script to simplify this. If you call the script for example via the Toolmanager Miami is started (if not already running) and then you can immediately choose via button the wanted settings file. There are four buttons available: | Standard | Mon - Sat | Sun + holiday | Choose yourself | Clicking on ´Choose yourself´ opens a file requester in the Miami directory, and you can choose the file yourself. After that Miami goes online. Download: Miami.lha (ps) [News message: 19. May. 2001, 21:54] [Comments: 0] [Send via e-mail] [Print version] [ASCII version] |

Microcode Solutions announces PowerPC Hardware Microcode Solutions announces PowerPC hardware for PC's and new Amigas, along with Power Macintosh emulation! Jim Drew from Microcode Solutions wrote on the 18.05.2001: Today, Microcode Solutions finalized preparation for the production of PowerPC hardware to be used in PC compatibles and next generation Amiga machines. The hardware will come with software to emulate a Power Macintosh (tm) computer. More information concerning the emulation will be released in the near future. Specifications for the hardware will not be released until the hardware is ready to ship. However, we can say that the hardware will have some astounding features designed around simplifying 3rd party development, including emulation technology. Microcode Solutions will be offering free developer hardware to qualified companies and 3rd party developers (including freeware/shareware). Microcode Solutions will also be releasing a complete SDK for the hardware to the public, and provide technical support to anyone interested in developing software for this hardware. People who want take part in the beta testing may send an email to Gary Peake with his/her system configuration and his/her skills. Those persons will have to sign a NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). If anyone is interested in doing this, please send an email to gary@amiga.com, giving your machine configs and testing skills. REBOL: Skript-Library on Desktop The script library of REBOL.com can now be accessed from the View desktop. With the help of its library drawer, upload and updating of scripts is also possible. Currently, the library is at beta 1 status. For future versions, there are ideas like a browser for better viewing of the library, a history icon which informs about changes and an additional field in the REBOL header which states in which environment (CGI, REBOL/View, ...) the script works and whether it produces output which is for example not the case with includes that merely import functions. 17.May.2001 Shawn (ANF) |
AMIGAONE Yahoo Chat Shawn (aka Amigaone) has created a chat with subject ´AmigaOne´ at Yahoo. To take part a JavaTM capable browser is required and you will have to register for the chat at Yahoo. On Saturday, 9 June (7 pm) a live chat will start where users will be able to discuss theire wishes, criticism, and suggestions for the AmigaOne. The log-file will be forwarded to both Bill McEwen and Fleecy Moss. Who would like to receive the log-file, may contact amigaone@powerh.net. Supplement: Since we were advised by many people that the initiator is about to be somebody who lacks seriousness, we suggest to read the comments, too. Original message with more details. This chat will include voice. Just get your mics and plug them in. Or at least turn the voice on. First go to yahoo. Then click on the Chat link. Register as a user if you haven't done so. Don't download the messenger because its windows unless you have a windows machine then come early and download yahoo messenger. Once logged in, click on the start chatting button, its java so it best to use a Java capable browser. Go to AMIGAONE room and I AMIGATHEONE will be there. Along with many others. Starting SAT JUNE 9th, 7pm central and lasting till whenever there will be a live chat on the new AMIGA. All may truly express their feelings on what they dislike and this log will be submitted to Bill and Fleecy. You may contact me at amigaone@powerh.net to get the log of the show. I personally invite people who wrongly believe in the pci and agp solution. IF they aren't there it only proves that they are wrong and cant put up. This is an enlightening forum for truth and helpfulness. Nothing else. Absuses will not be tolerated and anybody doing so will be booted by me or my assistance whom I trust. (ps) [News message: 17. Webtool: SiteWay-Modul 'ImageEditor' Version 1.33 Christoph Poelzl of RMS Communications advised me that more and more digital cameras (e.g. Canon EOS D30, Olympus E10, Kodak DCS 760....) are using a raw format, which apparently no Amiga software can read. Utilizing the two new loaders ´RAW Grey´ and ´RAW Color´ the ImageEditor in principle can read any raw formatted picture (e.g. sculpt), now. Download: IE_Update.lha - 240 kB (ps) [News message: 17. 'Business Cards' of Chip Designers Any Amiga user is aware that hardware and software designers like to leave some personal remarks (easter eggs) in their work. More difficult is to find such 'business cards'. Those reside on silicon chips and can be made visible only by using a microscope (or even an electron microscope). Here are two pictures from Motorola PowerPC chips: Motorola XPC 750 Motorola XPC 603 (ps) [News message: 17. May. 2001, 14:16] [Comments: 0] [Send via e-mail] [Print version] [ASCII version] |
