APC&TCP

Computer club: APC&TCP dissolved (Update)
On 23rd December 2001 APC&TCP announced officially that the computer club APC&TCP was dissolved. The APC&TCP distribution continues to exist. (ps) (Translation: rh)

Update 31. December 2001:
Kilian Servais, issuer of the APC&TPC disk magazine NoCover (German) wrote to the German comments on this article:

Hi!
Dissolving of the club in deed is not that tragical, because the only service, which alwas has been taken consequently, was the NoCover. Meantime this became freeware and everybody, who would like to, can registert to the email distribution list free of charge - just send an email to kilian@apc-tcp.de! In the times of Internet and email a club, like the APC&TCP has been, only makes sense in a very limited way, anyway, cause the Community will stay alive in any case. All users without Internet account can get the NoCover on floppy disk, as well. Due to the club dissolving the yearly charge slipps, but though we will try to offer as much services as possible.

So, at heart dissolving of the club is no step back but a step forward. The NoCover can get well as freeware, Andreas can concentrate on the Future (German Amiga games magazine), etc., etc.. So people: We'll keep at it!! What ever may come!!

Kilian Servais / Hersg. der NoCover

Phone costs: TTimeDeluxe version 3.19
With TTimeDeluxe you can keep track of your online costs. This update of version 3.18 to 3.19 makes TTimeDeluxe ready for the Euro. The switch to Euro should not be made before 01.01.2001 or there may be rounding errors otherwise. TTime is now Freeware.

IMPORTANT: TTime just changes the currency name and updates the TTime logfile. You'll have to change the prices in the preferences and the saved projects yourself. (ps) (Translation: rh)

Telepolis

Telepolis: Mail for you!
An initiative wants to retaliate upon AOL - they return one million CDs to sender.

In his article Torsten Kleins talks about the return of one million AOL CDs planned by Nomoreaolcds from a completely different point of view.

»Christmas is the time for giving. Our cupids get extensively packed presents from indoctrinated salespersons, donation collectors leave houses with filled collecting boxes, even postmen and garbagemen - sorry: post deliverers and garbage technicians become the target of our lordliness.
But there are only a few companies as involved with the latter two professional guilds as AOL is. What the fist one puts into our postpoxes in exhausting legwork the second one comes to pick it up shortly after: AOL CDs. It is the time to say thank you to the friendly provider from America. Let us send a parcel to AOL.«

Individual Computers: xsurfadsl.device Snowflake-Bugfix
A new update of the PPPoE-driver for our networking card X-Surf can be found in the support-area of our website. The last bug in the core routines has been removed, so a connection to the internet is stable at full transfer rates for several hours. Since this version has only been tested shortly, it remains in beta state. The archive contains an English readme file for the first time.

The driver is free for owners of the X-Surf ethernet card. It lets you connect to DSL and cable modem services that use the PPPoE-standard without the need to buy expensive additional software. In Germany DSL is marketed as T-DSL by the Deutsche Telekom, but smaller providers like 1&1, Hansenet and some local services also offer this broadband technology.

We want to remind our German customers of the new terms and conditions at the Telekom: If you order DSL before January 1st, you'll get the DSL modem for free. After that, you'll have to pay 119,95 EUR for the modem! (ps)

Textviewer: EvenMore Updates
I have reworked the GUI pens code to allow the user to select which colours they want for each part of the window using slider gadgets instead of the old pens method. EvenMore will automatically allocate these and shaded pens of that colour for the bevelled edges of the GUI.

I have created a new ProWrite2text conversion plugin. All plugins are now updated, to now show which plugin is being used for the current file using the keyword %pl in the info bar string.

Also, Russian and Portugues catalogs now available courtesy of Raul Silva and Vitaliy Chepeleff! Download now for free at www.evenmore.co.uk (title link)! (ps)
