Back to the Roots: Status Information
Press release During the last week the Back to the Roots main archive was completely enabled again, All files are online again. Nearly all funtions are active again.

The archive is still located on our completely filled up 160GB server, but we opened it for your convenience while we duplicate it to our new terabyte server during the next weeks. After this we will have space again to continue with site updates, which we expect around the end of the year.

Once the new server is installed we will exchange both machines, which might yield in some temporary inconveniences for you, surely no big issue after the long wait...

After this, we will rework our current machine as a backup mirror and team project server, where independent, topic related non profit projects could find an advertising free home, preferable people who want to help us to extend the main archive with legal content.

Until we finished reworking all, our mail server will be offline, due to the lack of disk space. Mails sent to @back2roots.org addresses will be forwarded to NIL:, so don\'t be upset if you contacted us and got no reply. All mails ever sent from our online email form is not lost, and will be responded with time.

Our FTP-Server will be updated once it\'s on the new machine. Dozends of CDs are waiting to be placed online.

Today I (Ralf) found out that Fred Fish died in April (didn\'t know that yet). What a shame, he\'s the pioneer of PD and open source for me. May he rest in peace!

Before his death, Fred gave us the license to put all his productions online at our site, as long as we request third party rights separately. This makes it possible (and is a historical duty too) to preserve Fred\'s complete binary life work legally for everybody.

That\'s why we are searching for everything which carries his name. Please have a look at your collections (originals) and send us lists together with the respective copyright notes (in case of third party involved) to me, if you want to help. If you are one of these 3rd party copyright holders, please consider helping us with a license for your part.

We also search original disk images (ADF, DMS, etc, not lha) of his FF/AmigaLib series for preservating them in their original form.

Thanks, Fred. We will never forget you! (snx)
