AmigaOS 4: MIDI-Sampler Phonolith 1.0
Phonolith is a software instrument created by Timo Kloss for AmigaOS 4, which plays sampled waveforms. It is usable with Horny and other CAMD based sequencers, or just a connected MIDI keyboard.

Starting with version 1.0, Phonolith is free software under the GNU General Public License (GPL) now. This decision was made because the author won't spend much time on this project anymore. He lost the need for it, because he stopped making music on Amiga. Please contact him if you are interested in the source code. A sourceforge.net project will follow.

Furthermore, the MIDI sequencer Horny is free now (but not open-source). To receive a keyfile, please contact the author.

Features of Phonolith 1.0:
  • Downmixing to AIFF file
  • Receives MIDI notes through camd.library
  • Mixer unit with non-linear volume/panning controls and peak meters
  • 16 different instruments at once
  • ADSR amp envelope (non-linear decay and release curves) for each instrument
  • Unlimited number of samples for each instrument, for key and velocity ranges
  • Supports AIFF and WAVE sample format (only 16 bit)
  • Imports Logic EXS24 instruments (PPC and Intel format)
  • ReAction GUI
  • Application.library support (for saving settings and registering Phonolith as application)
  • Connection to Horny 1.3 for automatic project loading
  • AmiUpdate support
  • Locale.library support

WinUAE: AmigaSYS 4
AmigaSYS is a pre-installed Workbench for the Amiga emulator WinUAE with many enhancements - similar to AIAB (Amiga In A Box) or AmiKit. Additionally required are merely a file with the Kickstart ROM as well as a Workbench disk of version 3.x at least.

With AmigaSYS 4, it is now possible to install AmigaOS 3.9 without 3.0 or 3.1. In addition, the installers for those three operating system versions were heavily upgraded and support five languages. You can find a list of details on the project page under the title link. (snx) (Translation: cad)

Cinnamon Projects: Tasks for C++-developer
With the "Cinnamon Projects" the author of the SDL-based text editing software Cinnamon Writer tries to establish a kind of private bounty system: In order to speed up the development of programs he offers low amounts of money for the development of single modules or routines to external developers - currently you can earn 100 Euro if you develop a "Printer class" for Cinnamon.

The Cinnamon Projects are financed with the bounties paid for Cinnamon Writer. The finished moduls are intellectual property of the Cinnamon-author as well as of the external developer. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Origyn Web Browser 1.21 and 1.3 (Update)
The AmigaOS 4 port of the Origyn Web Browser (OWB) is now available in version 1.21.

Changes:
  • Added a workaround for font releated OWB memory leaks in the AmigaOS 4 font implementation
  • Fixed crashlog entries cl25 and cl37
  • Speed up text rendering
  • No longer uses own mouse pointer
Update: (19:18, 19.04.08, snx)
Furthermore, version 1.3 has been released for AmigaOS 3.x.

Changes:
  • Ported the memory allocator used in the AmigaOS4 version to AmigaOS 3.x, requires AmigaOS 3.9 BB 2 (exec V45)
  • Added more workarounds for bugs in the AmigaOS 3.x SDL library
  • Implemented the font system for AmigaOS 3.x. It's currently limited to the 3 outline fonts included in AmigaOS 3.x (CGTimes, CGTriumvirate and LetterGothic)
  • Implemented intuition event handling for AmigaOS 3.x, all keys should work now. Of course text input will always be limited to ISO-8859-1 on AmigaOS 3.x since it didn't support different charsets yet
  • AmigaOS mouse wheel, 4th and 5th mouse button events are supported as well, but there is probably nothing for AmigaOS 3.x which can generate them
  • Implemented the graphics device for AmigaOS 3.x, requires Picasso96
  • Implemented a minimal replacement for the missing ICU libraries (UTF-8, ISO-8859-1 -10 and 13-16)
