SD controller for Zorro Amigas: SD Drive Z2
The SD Drive Z2 is a Zorro-II card for reading and writing common SD/SDHC/MMC cards with up to 1,5 MB transfer rate. Fat32 is used as file system which should enable an easy data communication with a PC. The card slot is let out of the case using a long flat cable - ending in an external block which stands on the desk. The hardware is supposed to be available in different shops, currently only listed at Amedia Computer. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Latest installation ISOs for Debian Sid/m68k
Recently the latest installation CDs for Debian "Sid", which is the "unstable" developer branch of the Linux distribution, have been released on the official Debian server (Youtube video of the installation on an Atari Falcon). Experienced users who want to help debugging are very welcome to take part in the discussion on the Debian-68k mailing list or on the IRC (#debian-68k on OFTC). Debian at least requires a 68020 processor and a MMU. Due to the size the kernel image probably has to be extracted before it is booted. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Operating system: FreeMiNT distribution for Vampire
MiNT ("Mint is now TOS") is the successor of Ataris TOS with multitasking functionality. Stefan Niestegge has arranged a distribution of the open source operating system which now is called FreeMiNT for Amiga computers equipped with a Vampire accelerator board. Before it can be used, the Amiga port of EmuTOS has to be loaded from a disk which then starts FreeMiNT from CF card. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Amiga disks on PC: ADF-Drive 0.625
ADF-Copy is an USB adapter which, connected to a ordinary PC disk drive, can read and write Amiga disks - provided that the disks are not copy-protected. The floppy port is connected to a Teensy 3.2 micro controller by using some jumpers controlled by the firmware of the micro controller.

Changes in version 0.625:
  • Time and Date for Amiga Files and the ADF Image
  • watchdog timer: resets the microcontroller after 8 seconds a fatal error occured
  • the internal LED of the Teensy used for signalling errorcodes:
    • 3 flashes then pause: read error
    • 5 flashes then pause: write error
    • slow flashing: out of memory error (might also cause a reset by watchdog)
    • fast flashing: no floppy drive detected or hardware error
  • read / write errors are also displayed as a message as the "DF0:" drivename
  • formatting of HD Disks with the MTP interface should work now, HD support is still very fragile
  • improved error handling
  • bumped up the read and write retries
  • improved compatibility with Windows 7
