Genesi: MPC 7447 for Pegasos G4 processorcard chosen
As announced on PegasosPPC.com their choice is made to use the Motorola MPC 7447 for the Pegasos G4 processor modules. Additionaly it is newly confirmed that these cards will be available from July on.

"This summer processor cards with Motorola's 7447, which work with 1 GHz and higher, will meet the Pegasos. The 7447 is the most recent PowerPC processor of the fourth generation (G4) by Motorola, which offers an improved performance compared to the predecessor generation (G3). Additional to an increased cache the 7447 offes more pipelines, an improved Front-Side-Bus (FSB) and most important an SIMD unit called Altivec. Altivec offers a special on-chip vector engine which is capable of delivering more than one Gflops (one billion floating point operations per second) and still being affordable to an average user.

G4 upgrades will be available from July 2003." (ps) (Translation: ub)
