Back to the Roots: Server-Crash
Ralf Steines wrote: Unfortunately here come bad news. Recently a Raid5-Array was damaged so two harddrives lost their data. Despite of rescue attempts almost all data were lost which were saved in ther main archive and on the FTP server.

The main archive has got a backup server which unfortunately cannot save the high amount of data on the FTP-server. We have a loss of nearly 2,6 millions (nearly all Amiga-) files.

Thank God, in winter the whole archive was checked for viruses. Additionally ca. 20.000 new disk archives and ca. 50.000 virus protocols were uploaded which were almost all (online) lost. Thanks to the virus tests ca. 95% of the lost data are morrored offline.

Therefore it will take a while until all data will be uploaded to the FTP. With a home-DSL connection it will take ca. half of a year. Until then the main archive is available on the replacement server (automatic redirect). The FTP-server will stay offline until the first upload will be done.

Of course the whole archive will be recovered but it will take a while. The affected harddrives were all completely financed with donations 4 years ago.

If anybody is interested in supporting the new acquisition: On each download site there is a donation link. We will try to expand the main site (3 TB) and to get a mirror with the whole archive. (snx) (Translation: dr)

AmigaOS 4: WxWidgets bounty opened
At the title link, amigabounty.net announces a bounty to get WxWidgets ported to AmigaOS 4.1.

Having WxWidgets available on AmigaOS 4.1 should enable the users to get easier access to a huge number of cross-platform applications and developers an option to reach a wider audience if they develop using WxWidgets. A few examples of applications using WxWidgets include KiCAD, Audacity, Code::Blocks IDE and (originally from the Amiga) Audio Evolution 5. (snx)

Music CD: Second edition of Symphonic Shades
Press release Sold out way too quick in December last year, now it is back! With its transparent standard-tray the new edition is lower priced than the first edition. All other details incl. CD content and the extensive booklet with interview, photos and artwork are identical.

The CD presents all songs of the concert performed in August 2008 in Cologne, which was a world-premiere: Minimalist homecomputer sounds turned into arrangements for 120 musicians of orchestra and choir - a complete symphonic concert dedicated to the works of one video game musician exclusively.

The name of this person is Chris Huelsbeck, who is regarded as legend among enthusiasts for his music in game classics of the C64- and Amiga-homecomputer era such as "Giana Sisters" or "Turrican". The songs were rearranged by demoscene legend Jonne Valtonen (aka Purple Motion / Future Crew), director was Grammy-winning artist Arnold Roth. (snx)
