MorphOS: VNC Server 1.0RC2 released (Update)
VNC Server 1.0RC2 has been released for MorphOS by Harry Sintonen and Jacek Piszczek. This freeware program allows remote access to the computer. The current visible screen is displayed on the connected clients (e.g. MorphVNC), and clients can control the mouse, keyboard and clipboard.

Main features include:
  • Upto 63 simultanous clients
  • MUI GUI with full keyboard control
  • Flexible access control list, with multiple passwords with different settings. You can for example disable mouse, keyboard and clipboard for users who don't know the password for full access. You can allow or deny any IP/Mask
  • Realtime Settings: Change setting and the change takes action immediately. Settings are saved automagically when VNC Server is quit
  • Extensive security features: By default will prompt local user to accept/reject incoming connections. Also, only LAN connections are allowed by default
  • Logical view of connected clients, with possibility to disconnect (Kick) or block and disconnect (Kickban) selected client or all connected clients
  • Support for Remote FrameBuffer (RFB) protocol upto version 3.8
  • Clipboard support: You can copy text between server and client
  • DisplayBeep support: The client 'bell' event it sent when DisplayBeep occurs
  • Support for ZLib compression with conforming clients (MorphVNC and TightVNC for example). Using ZLib enabled client is highly recommended
  • Support for framebuffer resize extension with conforming clients (RealVNC, TightVNC and probably other modern clients)
  • Support for screen swap: All screens are displayed properly (Palette indexed screen support is not fully finished in current version: Palette changes are not promoted to clients, and mouse pointer can appear with weird colours. Clients that don't support framebuffer resize extension will only display left-top part of the larger screens)
  • Support for local mouse pointer extension for faster client mouse pointer movement
  • No slow full screen polling, but instead implements intelligent routines to detect display changes. There is very little system load when display is idle
  • Fully asynchronous design with advanced state engine. There are no blocking operations, so connected clients will continue to run normally even if other clients attempt to connect or if settings are being changed
Update: (11:55, 15.08.05, snx)
Meanwhile, version 1.0RC3 has been released at the title link. The update does fix the bug of not being able to load disabled state of some options. (snx)

SN-HTMLKompress

With SN-HTMLKompress by Steffen Nitz you can shrink HTML files to a minimum in size to reduce the loading times of your HTML files, save traffic and webspace or make reading your HTML file source code less easy to a stranger's eyes. Depending on the coding of the original file your HTML pages are shrinked by up to 30% by removing not needed comments, spaces and empty lines.

Die kleine Gilde II

A small update was released for the realtime trading simulation "Die kleine Gilde II" (DKG): an archive containing new background patterns for the optoins screens "buildings" and "cart list"and for the progress display.

The author does especially thank for the report in the "Amiga Insider" that has a great influence on his motivation. An entry was added to the developer diary about DKG giving a preview of the author's next planned enlargements of his game.

Russian development of a ColdFire accelerator preliminary stopped
Another trial, the development of a ColdFire based accelerator card for the Amiga, was nearly unknown, apparently because of a language barrier. You can find the Turbo-CF project of Vladimir 'Vovanius' under the titlelink.

Because of the lack of money for the production start of the board the ColdFire-project is preliminary stopped sine last month. But they want to use the time to develop a PowerPC based accelerator board. (snx) (Translation: ts)
