USB-Floppy-Emulator: Alternative Gotek-Firmware
"Cortex Amiga Floppy Emulator" is an alternative firmware for the disk drive emulators of Gotek which can be also used with the Amiga. With the emulator, ADF-files can be read and written by an Amiga on an USB-stick instead of real disks. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Tracker: DigiBooster 3 for AmigaOS 3/4 and MorphOS
DigiBooster 3 was released for AmighaOS 3/4 and MorphOS today, it is available from APC&TCP on CD or as a download version:

Press release: DigiBooster 3 combines the traditional way of making music with an advanced audio engine and a modern, MUI based graphical user interface. It is fully compatible to its predecessor DigiBooster Pro 2 but has been redeveloped from scratch.

Its new modular design gives it a straightforward path for future development. In addition to a version for AmigaOS 3, ports for PowerPC systems are available as well - taking advantage of their greater computing power.

  • High quality audio engine, 24 bits, up to 192 kHz
  • Backward compatibility with DigiBooster Pro 2.x
  • MUI based interface, dynamically adapts itself to the screen size
  • Open source replayer code, portable also for non-Amiga systems
  • All sound effects are executed in single step mode
  • Single step auto-synchronisation to the module tempo
  • Highly configurable
  • ARexx port offering full control of the program from scripts
System requirements AmigaOS 3 version:
  • Minimum: 68020, harddrive, 8 MB Fast RAM, Workbench 3.0, MUI 3.8, AHI 4, 640 x 480 screen mode
  • Recommended: AmigaOS 3.x, 68060/50, harddrive, 16 MB Fast RAM, graphics card, sound card. Supports: WinUAE (JIT enabled) with Picasso96 and dedicated AHI drivers.
System requirements AmigaOS 4:
  • Minimum: AmigaOS 4.0, harddrive, 128 MB RAM, MUI 3.9.
  • Recommended: AHI compatible sound card, +500 MHz processor.
System requirements MorphOS:
  • Minimum: MorphOS 2.7, harddrive, 128 MB RAM.

Controlling Arduino systems: Hollywood LCARS Connect
Achim Kern is working on a Hollywood programm for controlling Arduino systems (video). It can be communicated with the Arduino Yun, the pcDuino and the Iteaduino as well as with the Raspberry Pi.

The system can access connected sensors, e.g. for humidity, temperature, light or motion and process these values or sned them to a website. Additionally the individual pins and thus e.g. relais of devices can be connected.

The Philips Hue Light system was recently added. The software can access the bridge and turn on or off all available lamps and can choose the colours. The motion detector also is connected with the Light System. If an intruder is noticed, an alert ("Red Alert") alarm is triggered.

According to the author, Hollywood LCARS Connect is still in progress. A beta version for connecting the Amiga to the Yun-Board and the Hue-System is planned. For combining hardware and software,he has to write an tutorial because it is very complex. (snx) (Translation: dr)
