Assembler: ASM-Pro 1.21 released
ASM-Pro is a MC680x0 macro assembler for the Amiga with an integrated editor, debugger, linker and monitor. The program offers full MC680x0, FPU and MMU support. About a year after the last update, ASM-Pro has now been brought up to version 1.21. The changes:
ADDITIONS
- ASM: Optional multi-line scroll (8 lines instead of only 1) to speed up assembly when output is verbose (e.g. large number of included files or print directives). Check Multiscroll in the assembler preferences.
- ASM: New integer operator: modulo // (e.g. 123//20 returns 3).
BUGFIXES
- ASM: REM/EREM block was not allowed in BSS sections.
- CMDLN: RB (read binary) causes a crash if begin address is unparsable.
- UI: Bevel box is slightly off for the top parameter groups in the environment preferences.
- CMDLN: @-prefixed dump commands incorrectly check for odd address and cpu version, causing a crash on 68000/010 systems.
- ASM: Directives and instructions in the first line of a REPT 0 block starting with either @ or A cause internal error.
- ASM: Incorrectly parsed number of bitplanes while including an IFF colormap causes memory list corruption.
- ASM: Whitespace lines in a macro could cause the Unexpected end of file error and consequent editor freeze.

Action game: Amiga Yoomp! released
In contrast to Marek Duda's realisation of the game Yoomph!, originally written for the Atari, which he called "Jump!" and which is written explicitly for AGA Amigas (amiga-news.de reported), Zbigniew Ross' aim was to see how the game could be made to run on an Amiga 500
Now he has published the result (video): an improved port of his C64 conversion that runs on OCS Amigas, but also on later models with faster processors and better graphics options. (dr)

Amiga emulator for macOS: vAmiga v3.0b3
Starting with version 2.6.1, developer Dirk Hoffmann made changes to the internal architecture of his Amiga emulator vAmiga for MacOS with the aim of porting the new emulator architecture of VirtualC64 v5.0 to vAmiga in order to enable features such as Run-Ahead (background article). Now he has released the second beta version of version. Changes compared to the second beta version:
- vAmiga can parse SDL controller descriptions, thus supporting a much broader variety of gamepads now
- Fixed a write-protection bug related to hard drives
- Resuming the emulator in warp mode no longer unmutes audio
The minimum system requirement for its emulator is macOS 11.0. (dr)

Amiga show: "Amiga 40" on October 18 and 19, 2025
As announced by the organizers at a1k.org (registration required, German), the next edition of “Amiga xx” will take place on 18 and 19 October 2025 at Kunstwerk - das rote Krokodil in Mönchengladbach-Wickrath, admission is from 10 a.m. each day. Some details about the event have already been communicated by the organizers:
- 2 levels: below the exhibitors, above the stage plus some additional tables - whereby the upper area is open and not a separate room
- Almost 120 tables are available
- Catering will be provided by the Kunstwerk, on-site payment for food and drinks will only be possible by card and not in cash. In exceptional cases, however, we will help at our cash desk in the entrance area
- Maximum number of visitors per day limited to just under 1000 people (for Amiga37 and Amiga38 there was a maximum of 850 people)
- Free parking spaces
- Shopping facilities in the vicinity
Ticket sales are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2025, as usual via the show's own ticket store. There will again be individual tickets for Saturday and Sunday, as well as discounted tickets for both days. In addition, around 20 user tables will again be offered for all those who want to present their Amigas and more non-commercially and contribute to the diversity of the event. There will also be some after-show tickets or all-in tickets and free tickets for all guests up to the age of 16. Exact prices are not yet known.
Registrations for commercial exhibitors will be possible from the end of the year - if you are interested, please send a message to info@amigaevent.de. A table for commercial exhibitors for both days will cost between 75,- Euro and 80,- Euro plus VAT.
Similar to the Amiga 38, a "Community Award" and an "Aftershow Party" - i.e. an evening event - are also planned, but there is no information on this yet.
The main sponsor will once again be A-Eon (Trevor Dickinson). It is hoped that further supporters from the commercial sector can be announced shortly. In addition, support is once again being sought in all areas: From sponsorship to support with planning and realization to on-site staffers - technicians for a "repair corner" are also being sought. Potential supporters are also asked to contact info@amigaevent.de. (cg)

German print magazine: ASM (Aktueller Software Markt), issue 12/24
Press release: After the great success of the german ASM revival issue 3/23, the editorial team is now upping the ante: this year's issue of german ASM ("Aktueller Software Markt"), number 12/24, has now been published and can now be ordered from amigashop.org. The current magazine offers a comprehensive overview of the new retro releases from summer 2023 to autumn 2024, taking into account the classic computer systems from A for Amiga to Z for ZX Spectrum, in over 40 tests for a total of 12 different computer systems.
What else is there in the new edition of ASM?
- Manfred Kleimann didn't miss the opportunity to write the foreword again - he also fought the Great London Fire of 1666 again, while Martina Strack helped the lemmings again after 30 years and Klaus 'Cruiser' set sail on the Paradroid deck cleaned up.
- Big thanks also go to Torsten Oppermann, who met with Chris Hülsbeck and Julian Eggebrecht for ASM to talk about old and new times and let us share in them.
- Clem Chambers, head of the famous software company CRL, talks about what it was like to run a software company in the 80s and what he did afterwards.
- Michael Kafke tells us pretty much everything about the ASM adventure, Stefan Vogt chats about the details and introduces us to Hibernated 2 (while we take a closer look at his masterpiece "The Ghosts of Blackwood Manor").
- The reader survey from the last issue will be resolved, there will be a programming competition (again...) and one or two surprises.
- And of course all the sections from the last issue are back on board, as is Donald Bug, who is letting go of all his clothes this time...

Universal PCI driver system: OpenPCI 11.2
Thomas 'Thor' Richter's universal PCI driver system "OpenPCI" supports without recourse to the software of the respective manufacturer
all known PCI solutions for the Amiga. The current version includes the following changes:
- GetBoardAttrs() and SetBoardAttrs() could loop forever
on unknown tags, the end marker for the known tags was
incorrect.
- The PCI BAR register parser did not compute the parity
correctly for some boards.
- Two new tags were added for GetBoardAttr(), namely
PRM_PCIMemWindowLow and PRM_PCIMemWindowHigh, which
provide the PCI address range available for a device
at config time, or the PCI address range a device is
mapped into later. These are PCI addresses, not 68K
addresses.
- SetBoardAttr() can now write PRM_MemorySizeX and
PRM_MemoryFlagsX at config time to dynamically size
PCI devices. This is useful for tools called from
within the PCI-Configuration file.
- Fixed a missing register initialization when unloading
tools from LIBS:PCI.
- Added example source code for an init tool for sizing
PCI devices dynamically.
- Fixed the description of the autoconf vendor IDs in the
autodoc file.
