Emulator: WinUAE 4.1.0
Version 4.1.0 of the Amiga emulator WinUAE has been released which again provides several new features:
PC Bridgeboard (A1060 Sidecar, A2088, A2088T, A2286 and A2386SX) emulation rewrite
- Emulation core replaced with PCem. Compatibility has improved greatly, for example Windows 3.x enhanced mode, DOS extenders and Windows 95 are now fully working.
- Bridgeboard built-in CGA emulation graphics corruption fixed.
- A2386SX VLSI chipset memory remapping, shadowing and EMS fully supported.
- Cirrus Logic emulation PC compatibility improved, 2M VRAM, linear frame buffer and blitter support.
- PC Speaker emulation (PCem)
- Sound Blaster emulation (PCem, various models)
- Serial mouse emulation (PCem)
- SCSI adapter emulation (Rancho Technology RT1000B)
Other updates
- AGA hires/superhires horizontal pixel positioning and borderblank horizontal single hires pixel offset fully emulated. Optional because it requires much more CPU power and it is rarely needed. DIWHIGH H0/H1 AGA-only bits emulated.
- AGA FMODE>0 undocumented features implemented (BPLxDAT, SPRxDAT CPU/copper accesses, bitplane modulos that are not integer divisible by fetch size)
- Added new misc option which captures mouse immediately when windowed/full-window winuae window is activated.
- 68030 MMU emulation compatibility improved.
- Paula disk emulation GCR MSBSYNC support added (Alternate Reality protection track).
- Added quick search and quick directory select to Configurations panel. Link and autoload moved to Advanced information panel.
- Added history list to config file name edit box and to statefile path string box.
- Added vertical offset option to D3D scanlines.
- 64-bit version didn't support 64-bit unrar.dll.
- 68030/040/060 with data cache emulation but without enabled MMU emulation: force Chip RAM as non-data cacheable.
- Magic mouse Windows cursor to Amiga mouse sync partially fixed.
- Window corners now work as drag'n'drop hot spots for different floppy drives. (top/left=0, top/right=1, bottom/left=2, bottom/right=3).
Bug fixes
- 68020 + memory cycle exact hung the emulator in some situations.
- Reading CIA interrupt status register in a very tight loop generated spurious interrupt(s) in certain situations.
- Softfloat mode with unimplemented FPU emu ticked didn't disable 68040/060 unmasked interrupts, confusing 68040/68060.library and possibly causing it to return incorrect values.
- Some CHD CD images didn't mount correctly.
- uaehf.device HD_SCSICMD didn't set scsi_SenseActual. Also set io_Actual=30 (=sizeof(struct SCSICmd))
- If config file had KS ROM path/file that didn't exist, it was replaced with non-existing ../system/rom/kick.rom path or was not correctly fixed with valid path.
- NCR53F94 SCSI chip emulation DMA counter fix (affected for example Blizzard SCSI Kit)
- Very large directory harddrives returned halved used/free space.
- Fixed multiple problems with screenshots and video recording from hardware emulated RTG board.
- Filter panel scanlines work now correctly in multimonitor mode.
- Crash fixed if more than one non-Paula audio stream was active. Included emulated sound cards, also CD audio if "include" option ticked.
- NE2000 PCMCIA and NE2000 bridgeboard didn't support custom MAC and network mode selection.
- Fixed hardware emulated graphics board hang with Picasso96 if board supported vblank interrupts and RTG board refresh rate mode was not Chipset.
- Fixed statefile crash when saving statefile while disk operation was active and disk image included bit cell timing information.
Bug fixes (Introduced in 4.0.0/4.0.1):
- Display port adapters that needed genlock transparency data (FireCracker, HAM-E, OpalVision, ColorBurst) didn't work correctly since 4.0.0.
- Display port adapters didn't work in multimonitor mode.
- Blitter statesave with blitter active: log window opened and listed few lines of blitter debug information.
- Some programs caused continuous flood of "blitter is active, forcing immediate finish" log messages.
- CTRL+F11 quit ignored new "Warn when attempting to close window" option.
- 68020/030 more compatible/cycle-exact mode statefiles didn't always restore properly.
New emulated hardware:
- CSA Twelwe Gauge (A1200 68030 accelerator + SCSI controller)
- AccessX/Acetec IDE controller.

Cross-Development: Atom package for Amiga Syntax Highlighting
The package "language-amigaos-c" for the text editor Atom provides syntax highlighting for the AmigaOS-API.
The update which was released adds a new menu item "New project" with a ready to compile makefile and Hello World code as well as "a requester where you can create a generic new subclass code for any superclass of your choice". Additional to "a shortcut to package settings", "auto-complete now also suggests specific values and identifiers for each API function, when your cursor is on the argument that requires one (including functions that get varrag tag items)."

Dungeon Crawler: "The Shadows of Sergoth" announced
The Shadows of Sergoth is a Dungeon Crawler similar to Dungeon Master, which this year was released for the Armstrad/Schneider CPC. The game is supposed to be ported to the Amiga. A release is planned for the end of 2019. Some early screenshots of the 16-Bit version you can look at on Twitter and Indie Retro News.

Workbench distribution: AmiKit X 10.5.2
Version 10.5.2 of the Workbench distribution AmiKit meant for emulators is available and can be downloaded via the included update function. Additional to 35 new functions, updates and bug fixes the "Dark Mode" was added, which gives the Workbench a dark theme. Changes of this version:
- FIXED: HALT3 freeze and Recoverable alerts on reboot (on systems with Amiga Forever or AmigaOS 3.9 w/BB2) are finally gone! Please shut down and restart AmiKit after update.
- FIXED: HDToolBox now works in AmigaOS 3.1.4
- FIXED: If you switch to old MUI 3.8 (via MorpheuZ), it shows images right now.
- FIXED: RAWBInfo was not corretly activated on OS3.9 systems with Boing Bag 2.
- AMIKIT: Optimized Startup-Sequences for all flavours make AmiKit even more stable.
- AMIKIT: MorpheuZ 10.5.2 now handles AmigaOS 3.9 patches better. We've also fine-tuned Startup Control.
- AMIKIT: LiveUpdate 1.7 by Daniel Westerberg
- AMIKIT: AmiKitReset 1.2 (reflects the above mentioned changes)

Multiplayer via Internet: AmigaLive 0.97
AmigaLive is a "Netplay" client which uses the network support of the Amiga emulator FS-UAE to enable multiplayer games via the Internet. Both players connect to an AmigaLive server and then can play an Amiga game with or against each other. AmigaLive offers also a simple chat function.

Game Construction Kit: RedPill 0.6.8 (alpha)
RedPill is a Game Construction Kit written in AmiBlitz2, which can help developing games of diverse genres - published videos show versions of Pacman and Mirror. RedPill is compatible to AGA and ECS, the "player" requires 1 MB Chip as well as some Fast RAM.
Changes of version 0.6.8 which as usual is available on Dropbox:
- About and Settings sections have been merged in Settings
- New Project now asks for confirmation
- Only used gameobjects are saved, decreasing the size of the .pill file significantly
- New cursor design
- Added a Clear Map button to clear the current map
- In Level menu, you can specify the exits of the map in the 4 directions. The exits point to other level numbers, use -1 to assign no exit
- Added action trigger Keep on Map to avoid an object getting out of map dimensions
- Added action trigger Check Exits to check current object against map dimensions and it will trigger the change of level
- Added 4 action triggers Set Exit to modify the level exits
- Added Impact action trigger to transmit motion impact from one object to the impacted one
- Flash Object trigger no longer makes the object blink, it stays in the same color for the length of the flash
- Change between levels has been modified to avoid a frame with incorrect render at the start of the change
- Added checks to avoid a crash when the system cannot find the tileset file in the project

Teaser video: OCS game "Aquabyss"
An effective trailer which however does not show any scenes from the game itself announces the first game "Aquabyss" of the developer team "Aged Code". The game is to be released "soon" and will not be made using Backbone. It will run on each Amiga with at least 3 MB RAM and a harddrive but benefits from faster processors and more RAM.

Javascript: TAWS - The Amiga Workbench Simulation 0.30
TAWS
("The Amiga Workbench Simulation") is a Javascript simulation of the Amiga-Workbench 1.0 - 4.1 for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Apple-WebKit-Browser (including Odyssey).
Any kind of feedback the author Michael Rupp would very appreciate. His work can be supported by a donation from inside TAWS.
Changes of version 0.30:

TAWS Early Preset Selection:
- New menu to select a preset upon starting and booting directly into its configration.
- By checking «Remember Selection» the selection can be saved (Cookie).
- By checking «Skip This Next Time» the selection will be be skipped from now on (Cookie).
- The corresponding setting in «Preferences» is «Skip preset selection on startup» and can be reset there.
- The menu can fully be controlled by keyboard (cursor keys and shortcuts according to the underlined characters).
- Clicking «Cancel» will get you to the kickstart image.
- New Preset: «BetterWB»

OS 4.1: keyboard shortcuts for the prefs programs. The following gadgets can be controlled by keyboard pressing the key that's underlined in the corresponding label:
- Checkbox: check/uncheck
- Textbox: set focus while «Return»/«Enter» removes focus
- Cycle: cycle forwards or backwards if shift key is pressed
- Slider: increase value or decrease value if shift key is pressed
- Button: click (supported since OS 3.5 and higher)

- AmigaGuide: missing AmigaGuide help files added (for the languages french, spanish, and polish), updated files for all other languages.
- Amiga Early Startup Control: prevent browsers from blurring the Topaz font.

Bugfixes:
- Improved positioning of the drive icons
- After «putting away» an icon the scrollbars of its window is recalculated.
- Presets/Reset to last saved: the color of the active window is now correctly reset to its saved value.
- Presets: minor color corrections

Preferences:
- Style «OS1» removed for this is not implemented yet (bug since v0.29)
- Changing the transparency of inactive windows was not set to windows that have been moved previously.
- After loading icon's style and size from the cookie at startup, the values were only set to drawer icons and not to Workbench icons as well.
- Deactivated the browser's autocompletion and spellchecking on textboxes
- Font: changing the default font doesn't affect already opened AmigaShell windows anymore.
- MagicMenuPrefs: improved position of the %-character
- Chrome / Firefox / Opera: fixed menu shortcuts
- MS Edge: fixed gradients in OS4-style (menubar, buttons, cycles)
- Firefox & AmigaShell: correction of the word wrapping (not yet fixed for Internet Explorer and MS Edge)
- Odyssey & AmigaShell: workaround for a bug: the character «zero width space» should actually be invisible but is rendered as a square.
- NetSurf: «JavaScript support is not sufficient» guru is displayed as intended.
- Safari (Windows): fixed button click that is invoked by a keyboard shortcut (f.e. when creating a new drawer).

WHDLoad: New installers until 01.12.2018
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until December 1st, 2018:

New-Art edition of Amiga 500: Stefanie Tücking died
The television and radio presenter Stefanie Tücking who died on Saturday also had a relation to the Amiga: In 1989 she created a New-Art edition of the A500 with leopard and ball pattern in a limited edition of 10.000 pieces.

Web application: Amiga PCB Explorer now supports A386SX
The "Amiga PCB Explorer" written by Christian 'Scrat' Euler is supposed to support hobbyists repairing Amiga boards. Additional to different revisions of A4000, A1200 and CD32 main bords, A500 (rev. 8A) and A600 (rev. 2A) motherboards and now also boards of the "Bridge Board" A2386SX are supported as well.

Advance booking for Amiga 34 (12./13. October 2019, Neuss) started
On 12. and 13. Oktober in Neuss the Amiga 34 will take place. Now the advance booking has started. There are tickets for Saturday or Sunday as well as two-day ticktes (200). Tickets for Sunday are a little bit cheaper because most of the VIP guests will attend the event only on Saturday while on Sunday mainly the exhibitors are in focus.

Patch and commodity collection: MCP 1.49c
MCP 1.49c already has been available for two years but only as part of Amikit. The update fixes a bug if MCP is used with an emulator with "Virtual Mouse Driver" enabled: This function now is compatible with the MCP patch "Solid Window Moving & Sizing". The MCP patch CycleToMenu does not work with Virtual Mouse Driver enabled: According to the MCP author this problem must be fixed in the emulator.
MCP 1.49c only is distributed as update for existing MCP installations. If you still have not MCP installed first you have to download and install the archive MCP 1.48.

MorphOS-Tools: DateTime, Mousecoords, PixelPicker, TopTasks and Notch
The team of #amigazeux has released some new screenbar plugins for MorphOS:
- DateTime is a configurable replacement for MorphOS titlebar clock and shows the date and time.
- Mousecoords will show current X and Y mouse coordinates on the screen.
- PixelPicker reveals the information about a pixel (or at least its colour) in a neat display in the screen's titlebar.
- While clicking TopTasks it opens a window showing the top 10 tasks currently hogging all your precious CPU time.
- Notch basically displays a very popular and configurable Notch in the screen title.
