Crowdfunding: Keycaps can be produced
Philippe Lang's Kickstarter project for producing new keycaps for Amiga keyboards (amiga-news.de reported) has been successful. Seventeen days before the deadline the goal of 102.000 Singapore-Dollar (about 67.400 Euro) was exceeded by more than 108.000 Singapore-Dollar that was pledged. (snx)

Web browser: Short review on SDL/MUI-version of NetSurf
At the beginning of this year, editor Daniel Reimann of amiga-news.de has written a detailed review on Chris Young's Reaction-based port of Netsurf, but the SDL-port provided by Artur 'Arti' Jarosik he is testing as well:
On his blog, Jarosik has released new versions of his browsers during the last weeks. On my Amiga1200 these versions did not run very stable and a special FPU-version I could not start at all. Meanwhile there is only one version for AGA and RTG, a seperate FPU version was dropped.
The last AGA-version of Netsurf, which was released on Aminet on December 23, runs quite stable and fast on my Amiga1200.
It is a little bit unusual how you have to enter a web address into the address bar of the browser: Nothing happens by clicking with the left mouse button in the bar. After clicking with the right mouse button, Netsurf does vanish and a little window appears on the Workbench. There you can enter your web address.
Foreground and background picture loading disabled, Netsurf does take about 30 seconds for loading the main website of amiga-news.de on my Amiga1200 with Blizzard 1230 and for loading the Aminet site about 52 seconds. (cg)

Game launcher: X-bEnCh 1.00 X-mas Public pre Release
X-bEnCH is a graphical user-interface with up to 272 colours (AGA; 128 on OCS/ECS-computers) which can replace the Workbench for launching WHDLoad-games and other applications and requires low hardware resources. An integrated command line as well as the file manager Xpl0rEr are also available.

WHDLoad: New installers until 24.12.2016
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until December 24th, 2016:
- 2016-12-23 fixed: Bob's Bad Day (Psygnosis/Dome Development) crash after intro fixed when blitter waits were disabled, DMA waits in sample player and MED replayer fixed, 68000 quitkey support, manual included, new install script (Info)

Amiga-Emulation on ARM: HAPPIGA 1.4.1
Happiga is a Debian-based Linux distribution for ARM-based computers like the Raspberry Pi which directly boot into the Amiga emulator UAE4ARM. An AGA-Amiga with 68040-processor and sufficient RAM is emulated, Picasso96 is installed as well. A Samba-Share is preconfigured for exchanging data with other systems.
You cannot update Happiga to version 1.4, you have to completely reinstall the application. Changes in version 1.4.1:
- A last minute bugfix which greatly slowed the raspberry
- New image based on Rapsbian Pixel
- Update the firmware of the raspberry
- Updated uae4arm
- Button to turn happiga off from the menu
- Integration of KODI with launch from the menu
- Removal of the gamepad menu, because most people use the program with pixel raspbian
- Even more stable

eBook: Special edition of "Commodore - The Amiga Years" for supporters
According to a user on Amigaworld, supporters of the second part of Brian Bagnall's Commodore chronicle which was financed by Kickstarter will get a chapter of the book as a special ebook edition.
The eBook has 371 pages and is about the history of the Amiga 1000, which in this special edition is explained more detailed than in the forthcoming final version of "Commodore - The Amiga Years".

Jump'n Run: Easter Egg
"Easter Egg" is a Jump'n Run created with Backbone. In this game you have to collect all eggs and make your way to the exit. Easter egg offers 31 levels and a "cheat mode" for beginners. You can also gain an extra life by collecting a big gold egg.
Easter Egg requires an Amiga with 1 MB RAM and 512 KB Chip-RAM. You can play the game using a joystick or the keyboard.

eMail: SimpleMail 0.43
At Christmas 2000 the first alpha version of SimpleMail was released. At each following Christmas an update has been released. In 2016 version 0.43 is under the Christmas tree, which fixes some minor bugs and uses a new version of OpenSSL:
- OpenSSL to 1.0.1u updated
- Building mail index no longer blocks user-interface
- Replaced Error window by more general Logging window
- Several bug fixes

AROS: ZuneView 0.31
Yannick Erb has released version 0.31 of his picture viewer ZuneView for AROS which also provides some editing functions.

Individual Computers: ACA500plus can be ordered, delivery from January 3rd on
The ACA500plus is the successor version of the accelerator board ACA500, which was introduced three years ago, and now can be preordered under the title link. While some first customers will have their boards on Christmas, all others will not get them before January 3rd due to a high demand.
