GUI-development: MUI Royale 1.1 for Hollywood (Update)
Press release: Airsoft Softwair is proud to announce the immediate availability of MUI Royale 1.1. This update contains some minor fixes and new features..

MUI Royale is a plugin for Hollywood 5 (screenshots: 1, 2, 3) that finally allows you to easily create MUI GUIs with Hollywood. MUI Royale supports over 40 MUI classes including popular third-party classes like TextEditor.mcc and TheBar.mcc.

Creating and managing menustrips is also fully supported. The plugin sets new standards concerning the ease of use because the GUI layout can be conveniently defined using an XML file that is converted into a MUI GUI by MUI Royale on the fly. GUI design has never been so easy! Of course, new features of MUI 4.0 are also supported.

The highlight of MUI Royale, however, is certainly its inbuilt Hollywood MUI class. This class allows dynamic embedding of complete Hollywood displays into MUI GUIs which can be used to combine the best of both worlds - MUI's proven GUI skills and Hollywood's unequalled multimedia capabilities - into one powerful application, limited by the scope of your creativity only.

MUI Royale requires at least Hollywood 5.2 and is provided free of charge for all users of Hollywood. It is available for AmigaOS 3 (m68k), AmigaOS 4 (PPC), MorphOS (PPC), and AROS (i386).

The package comes with almost 20 example scripts, many of which are direct ports from the MUI 3.8 SDK by Stefan Stuntz, but there are also original developments like demonstrations of how to create a video player using the combined power of Hollywood and MUI. On top of that MUI Royale comes with extensive documentation as a 280 page PDF file which is also available in the HTML, AmigaGuide, and CHM formats thanks to the Hollywood documentation system.

All this makes MUI Royale the truly royal MUI experience, carefully crafted for you Kings and Queens of MUI!

Update: (18:14, 09.05.14, snx)

Changes in version 1.1:
  • Change: Updated documentation
  • New: VideoPlayer example allows you to switch between antialias interpolation and simple scaling
  • Fix: Fixed a bug in the Slider.Stringify; it didn't block Hollywood's refresh server which could lead to a deadlock, for example in the VideoPlayer.hws example; this fix requires a Hollywood version newer than 5.3
  • New: Added Texteditor.GetText method; this allows you to get the partial contents from a text editor gadget (requested by Richard Lake)
  • New: Window.PubScreen allows you to open windows on all public screens; use this only if you have good reasons because normally this is something that the user should decide (requested by Richard Lake)
  • Fix: Window.Borderless didn't work because MUI Royale enforced a window title (reported by Jörg Renkert)
  • New: Popfile, Popdrawer, Popfont, and Poplist classes support the AdvanceOnCR attribute now for their string gadgets (requested by Richard Lake)
  • New: Window.ActiveObject can also be used as a notification attribute now (requested by Richard Lake)
  • Fix: Application.AboutMUIRoyale() didn't work when MUIRoyale.hwp was in a folder that contained spaces (reported by Achim Kern)
  • New: All of the Column class attributes have an applicability of ISG now which means that you can also change them during runtime
  • New: Added Listviewcolumn.Hidden attribute which can be used to show/hide single columns; this requires at least MUI 3.9 (requested by Richard Lake)
  • New: Added Listview.Rename() method that allows you to rename entries in a listview row (requested by Richard Lake)
  • Fix: Listview.Sort() didn't work correctly; it now accepts an additional argument which tells according to which column the list view should be sorted (reported by Richard Lake)
  • New: Area.ContextMenu can be used with mui.Set() now to change the context menu of a MUI object; to remove the context menu from an object completely, pass the special constant "(none)" in mui.Set() (requested by Richard Lake)
  • New [OS4/MorphOS]: Listview.TitleClick allows you to get notified about clicks on the title bars of a listview (requested by Richard Lake)
  • Fix [AROS]: MUI Royale uses relative search paths now when looking for TextEditor.mcc and TheBar.mcc custom classes (reported by Nigel Tromans)
  • Fix: Area.ContextMenuTrigger didn't set the TriggerValue correctly (reported by Richard Lake)
  • Fix: When using Listview.GetEntry together with "Active" on a Dirlist object in which no entry was active, MUI Royale crashed (reported by Richard Lake)
  • New [OS4]: Pixel-exact virtgroup resizing now possible because it is now supported by OS4's MUI now, too
  • Fix: "Selected" attribute in button class did not work when used with "True" or "False" (reported by Matthias Rustler)
  • Fix: Installer didn't work with paths that had spaces in them (reported by Richard Lake)

Emulator: WinUAE 2.8.0
Version 2.8.0 of the famous Amiga emulator WinUAE has been published. According to the developers, standard Amiga 500 compatibility is now practically as good as it can get without knowledge of blitter's undocumented internal logic design. (This drawback affects mainly some demos that accidentally modify blitter registers while blitter is already active.)

New features:
  • Full A4000T and A4091 NCR53C710 SCSI emulation
  • A590/A2091 and A4091 boot ROM GUI selection
  • Separate graphics filter settings for native and RTG modes
  • 256k ROM image inserted in floppy drive emulates A1000 KICK disk
  • Super Card Pro image file support (.scp)
  • SLIRP network inbound port support (default: 21, 22, 23 and 80, others can be added by editing configuration file)
  • Input panel previously toggle-only events can be optionally set to on and off state, audio/video recording input event added
  • Joystick/joypad can be used to control light pen cursor
Updates:
  • Remaining 68000 cycle-exact mode timing fixes
  • 68000 reading from write-only or non-existing custom register compatibility improved
  • Big chipset edge case compatibility update, for example demos with vertical \"copper\" bars work perfectly, real hardware glitches in horizontal scaling are now accurately emulated and much more
  • 68040/68060 without emulating unimplemented FPU instructions is now fully compatible with Motorola FPU emulation library, FSAVE special FPU exception stack frames implemented
  • Programmed modes (Super72 etc.) now automatically select best fit horizontal resolution and is more compatible with different filter modes, also display positioning is improved
  • Recently dumped Arcadia arcade system ROM images supported
  • Debugger full FPU and 68020+ bitfield, and other previously missing 68020+ only instructions supported in disassembler
  • Magic mouse + mousehack mode now always stops keyboard input when mouse is outside of emulation window, even if window still has focus
(snx)
