Retro Gaming: WHDLoad 16.6
With WHDLoad it is possible to install old, copy protected games onto hard disk, furthermore compatibility issues with AGA based and tuned Amigas are fixed. Changes of version 16.6:
- fix: no more enforcer hits (byte read from adr 0) on directory cache
preload on FFS filesystems (Christian)
- upd: italian documentation is in sync again, thanks David Bergantin
for updating it
- upd: small enhancement for HrtMon to print out expmem boundaries
- fix: no longer complains about missing ENV: assign
- fix: bus/address error messages on 68000 corrected
- fix: the message returned on interrupted resload functions did have
the same name for both functions, this has been corrected
- chg: argument checking for resload functions improved, now the
current stack can not be overwritten by resload functions (size
of reserved stack space is 64 bytes)
- new: command GA added to resload_Patch/Seg to get a address and store
it inside a variable in the slave
- fix: modify at ExpMem via resload_Patch works again, was permitted
in version 16.5
- chg: kickemu improved, compiles with PhxAss and AsmOne again, new
switch NO68020 for kick31.s to get 68000 compatible code,
patches to the kickstart added to avoid overwriting the vector
table, this allows WHDLoad to catch exceptions also on 68000

Team AROS: Bounty #40 for DOS-Packets
For the bounty project #40 for the implementation of DOS packets in the dos.library of the Amiga Research Operating System (AROS) donations can be made now.
At first a device based method was built into AROS, but in the future both procedures should be supported. It is intended to be kompatible with the original AmigaOS and profit from file systems like EXT2, SFS or FAT32/NTFS, as AmigaOS as well as AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS already do.
Furthermore a way for other already existing bounties should be created - for example the ones for the reimplementation of the Amiga roms (Kickstart ROM Replacement phase I, phase II). (snx) (Translation: tz)

IRC-client: Wookiechat 2.2
The MUI-based IRC-client WookieChat (Screenshot) is now available for AmigaOS 3/4 as version 2.2. Changes since the previous release:
- Support added for clickable URL's
- CTCP SOUND support added. See the "Main Settings > Sounds" for the samples directory. "/sound" to play!
- No more crashes if loading Wookie before a TCP/IP stack is running
- PING replys are now compatible with mIRC (removed an extra control character from the end of a PING reply message that wasnt supposed to be there)
- Added a banlist window with unban button
- Added ban option to the nicklist popup menu
- The columns in the XChat/AmIRC-style display can have a fixed width now. See the "power_users.txt" file for more information. Default is "auto resizing"

- Bugfix: the ASL requester for choosing a browser in the Settings window was set to directorys only

Hyperion/LGP publishes Gorky 17 for Linux
Linux Game Publishing provides a demo-version of the RPG/strategy mix gameGorky 17 now, the full release will be available at several online shops from June the 12th.

MorphOS: Update of the PowerUp edition

Press release Since today CygnusEd 5 is available at APC&TCP. An update for older versions is available at a reduced price when sending the original disc/CD to APC&TCP directly.
The support homepage of CygnusEd 5 is online since today as well; the support forum was already opened quite a while ago.

About CygnusEd Professional Release 5
The probably best known Amiga text editor for programmers was developed by Bruce Dawson, Colin Fox & Steve LaRocque (CygnusSoft Software) 20 years ago (1986/1987). Originally they released it on their own cost. Already back then CygnusEd was characterised by its high working speed and robustness. CygnusEd advanced constantly in the following years and was one of the first programmes with an ARexx interface and the first Amiga text editor with Undo/Redo functions. Many Amiga programmers "grew up" with CygnusEd and a considerable part of the software developed for Amiga was written with CygnusEd.
CygnusEd version 4, which was the last released version, was published in 1997 and was a completetly revised version of the texteditor and its tools, adapted to AmigaOS 3.1.
The latest CygnusEd version 5 has some new functions and robustness and working speed were once again improved. The tool "Ed" was rewritten completely and the complete source code is enclosed to CygnusEd. Many old restrictions and weaknesses of CygnusEd have been removed. The version 5 is the first version of CygnusEd which has been completetly ported to the PowerPC processor with all tools and one of the first commercial software packages especially adapted for AmigaOS 4. C-Compiler: vbcc 0.8j, update of the POSIX library
The vbcc C-Compiler by Volker Barthelmann (compiler core) and Frank Wille (amiga specific adaptions) is now available in version 0.8j. The compiler supports AmigaOS 3/4, MorphOS, PowerUp and WarpOS and corresponds to ISO-S according to ISO/IEC 9899:1989 and corresponds as well to a part of the newer standard ISO/IEC 9899:1999 (C99).

Moorhuhn Clone: Blackshoot 1.4
Blackshoot ist a "Moorhuhn" clone written in AmiBlitz with graphics and sound card support (screenshot). In the new version, problems with the ClickToFront commodity were corrected, the game runs smoother, and it gets properly checked whether all required fonts are available in the system.

Classic Games: Remake of "Another World" for the Amiga
In a thread on amiga.org, Cloanto are announcing an Amiga conversion of the remake of the classic game Another World.

Retro-Gaming: 10 new games at amigaland.de
At amigaland.de, 10 new games are available for free download since today. This concerns the CD32 versions of Benefactor, Pinball Fantasies, Oldtimer, Fields of Glory, Subwar 2050 and Whales Voyage, for one, additionally, there are Amiga version of the Microprose and Hewson titles Covert Action, Dogfight, Betrayal and Eliminator.
The website was slightly expanded as well: In the area "Amiga-Modelle" (Amiga Models), the wrights have listed all facts known to them about Amiga prototypes.

AmigaOS 4: TiMidity 0.6
TiMidity is a program for the playback and conversion of MIDI files. The changes and improvements in the newest version affect, above all, the stability. Furthermore, play-back without the user interface, from the shell, was integrated, which allows for the play-back of MIDI files in the background. In addition, the archive now contains a short tutorial by Hubert Maier, which explains the integration of TiMidity with AWeb.

AmigaOne: Sigmatel STAC9752T sound chips available
Costel Mincea, who initiated a centralised buying for the onboard sound chips initially used in the AmigaOne but erroneously left off in later production runs, has 70 Sigmatel STAC9752T sound chips available now.
Mincea distributed his expenses (the price for the chips, shipping to him, duty fees) on the number of chips available, which results in a price per unit of slightly more than four Euro. Therefore, a single chip can be ordered from him for four Euro plus shipping (depends on target location, 1,- Euro for Europe).
Users can now order chips by emailing sigmatel@stackswap.net, specifying the desired quantity and the delivery address. The reply will confirm the order and specify payment details. Filesharing: prerelease of AmiGift 2.0
The P2P filesharing system is based on the giFT daemon that can connect to Gnutella (Limewire, Acquisition, etc.), FastTrack (Kazaa, Grokster, iMesh, etc.) and OpenFT. A graphical users interface on MUI basis is available.

Think game: new Sudoku port
A further Sudoku port for the Amiga was done by Ralf Berg. Next to the normal 9er Sudoku are smaller (4er) and larger (16er) variationsposible. Skins are supported.
Further features:
- loading, saving and printing of fields
- generating of own fields (solver exists)
- displayed in a window on the Workbench or with own screen
- usage of datatypes for graphics and sound output
- runs on all Amigas with AmigaOS 3.0+
The author points out that not all features are implemented yet. E.g. is the highscore list still missing. Furthermore he's looking for designers and musicians to enhance the game.
In the Japanese numbers puzzle Sudoku is a square divided in 3×3 subsquares with each containing again 3×3 fields. Some of these 81 fields show already numbers from 1 to 9. For a riddle's completion every row, every columnand each of the nine blocks may contain each number from 1 to 9 just once.

AmiMSN is an Instant Messenger client for the MSN-netwotk written in ARexx. With the current
version you can get a connection.
The update was neccessary because Microsoft requires Passport 3.0 as well as SSL for the
authentication. The SSL-Gateway-program Stunnel is used.

Phoenix-Motherboard: New edition project finished
In the forum of amiga-news.de Robert 'aPEX' Wahnsiedler explained that the Community-Project
has been finished.
50 pieces of these replacement motherboards for the Amiga 1000 have been made and 48 pieces
delivered. You can get further information under the title link.

Board game: Africa 1.01
In the computer version of the board game "Africa" from 1977 you have to extend your
influence in south Africa (screenshot).
Now version 1.01 is available. With it the turns can be done in several ways and also removed.
Now there is also the option to choose if you want to play all rounds or not.
The game requires at least AmigaOS 3.0, AGA or RTG and a screen of 640 x 512 pixels.

AmigaOS 4: Driver for IDE-Controller from ITE Tech
Thanks to Max Tretene from Soft3 who has made available the
the hardware Stéphane Guillard could write a new IDE-driver for AmigaOS 4 (screenshot).
This one make it possible to use the IDE-PATA-Controller IT8212 from ITE Tech.
For a future version of the driver the support of the RAID-function might be possible.
Registered beta testers of AmigaOS 4 will get the driver tomorrow and the other users
after the beta phase was finished.
