-- Dr. Zarkov [ - Direktlink - ] |

Zitat:English please. And no, the English board is not going to be removed. The English main page includes topics from the English board, just like the German main page includes topics from the German boards. In other words - we need an English board. -- Delirium BBS [ - Direktlink - ] |

@cgutjahr: I agree with DrZarkov. I'm not sure if AN even are in need of an English main page to survive. Anyway, surely not any main page needs topics form a dead board. Otherwise that board would be alive. *Typos are freeware.* [ - Direktlink - ] |

@cgoodyear: Which topics? Do you know that Monty Python sketch with the parrot? "It is dead" "Oh no, it's just sleeping" "No, it's dead"... -- Dr. Zarkov [ - Direktlink - ] |

So this board ist sleeping. Are we waiting for briars to spring up and a prince to kiss it awake? .... and they all lived happily ever after.

Are we some kind of in fairy tails believing childish daydreamers? This board is as dead as the comments section of AN's English main page. Actually the citizens of every country around the world prefere to communicate at locations where their own first tongue takes center whenever possible. Just like we do, too. Shit happens... One should be tough enough to face reality.

Good coders do not comment. Well now, apparently AN is in urgent need of an English Netiquette rather than an English discussion board: http://www.amiga-news.de/forum/thread.php?id=31398&BoardID=1 -- ** Tippfehler sind kostenlos und dürfen unbegrenzt an Dritte weitergegeben werden. ** [ - Direktlink - ] |

English please. 1. If you don't like the english sub board, don't visit it. It's that simple, really. 2. I don't get why it's so hard to understand for some people why there 'must' be an english sub board - for purely technical reasons: The code that generates the main page on the fly now reads the latest active forum topics and displays them in the rightmost column - and for the English version of the main page, this should better be English discussions. We prefer "dead English topics" over "active German topics" for the English main page. We could of course deactivate said code for the English version of the main page and replace it with something else. We opted for creating an English sub board instead - which required two mouse clicks and entering a name and a description. Learn to live with it, despite all the unspeakable pain it seems to cause you. -- Delirium BBS [ - Direktlink - ] |

Zitat: Pffft... Zitat: 2.a Your conclusion of that is to continue to link to permanently inactive English topics or should I say in truth not existing English topics? And who ist that "we" to decide if or if not to continue to disgrace amiga-news.de? Apart from that IIRC the English board was created long before any forum links occured on the main page. Zitat: That would be something self-critical honest, at least. Zitat: This English subboard remains unused by People not speeking German for more than two years, for now. As for the comments section of the English main page remainig unused as well for a much longer time, yet. These are the facts. It's sad but life is usually unfair. "We must go on like this because we've done so in the past" is not a valid reason to insist on former false estimation. Zitat: No need to get apart, and become pathetic. I will continue to refuse to learn to live with narrow-mindness an ignorance. ** [ - Direktlink - ] |

There were more native English speaking people posting to the German board as posting to the English board, which is not so surprising as the number of native English speaking people posting to the English board is exactly zero. Interestingly, English speaking people posting to the German board in English are not aware that others did this before in most cases. They are asking to excuse posting in English every time. This gives a hint on how the empty English board appears to the English speaking people: they rather decide to write to the German board instead, even if they don't know how the German speaking people will react. Of course, no one ever had a problem with people posting in English in the German boards. I guess, these posting got more and better answers as they got if they posted in the English board of AN. Anyway...why on earth am I writing this in English? -- Good coders do not comment. What was hard to write should be hard to read too. [ - Direktlink - ] |

Zitat:Which is even more convincing if the reader considers that these "dead English topics" are all created by Germans, most of them just to pretend that there ever were some now-dead English discussions. just my 2c -- Good coders do not comment. Zitat:That seems to be the whole problem: I'm not trying to be convincing. You guys are making it sound like there are aliens involved or something.
