For those who are using an Amiga emulator, ADFs of the original AMOS disks for virtually all versions of Easy AMOS, AMOS the creator, AMOS Professional, AMOS 3D, and the AMOS Compilers have been released for free. They can be downloaded from the wonderful Back 2 the Roots web site in the Tools/Dev/ directory. Use these disk images to continue using AMOS on your favorite emulator or to backup your currupt AMOS system disks!

"Apple CEO Steve Jobs said this week that his company would consider moving to Intel chips, but that he would wait until at least 2003 because the transition to Mac OS X was more important. But with the speed of Power PC hardware increasingly falling behind Intel's chips -- The Pentium 4 will hit 3 GHz this year -- Apple would be wise to do a bit of research. I recommend AMD's upcoming 64-bit Opteron, which will give Apple a technological leg up on Windows and, perhaps, offer them Windows compatibility through the Opteron's full compatibility with 32-bit x86 code. Ahwell, maybe, maybe not, time will tell .. in the meantime you can atleast play around abit with it yourself .. Enjoy...
Ogg Vorbis is quite a resource hog though, so only 060 (barely usable on my 060/50) and MorphOS binaries included (ixemul required)...
Oh, and sadly we cannot bring you the encoder yet, as it is thouroughly FUBARed (massive memtrashing), but you should be able to find lots of goodies to play with over at the Ogg Vorbis music page >>> http://www.vorbis.com/music.psp

Du hast vollkommen Recht. Es ist nur so, daß die AMOS-Factory nach langer Zeit "wiedereröffnet" wurde, und die konnten es halt gezwungenermaßen erst jetzt erwähnen.

Diese Gerüchte gibt es schon seit Jahren, besonders seit OSX Bekanntlich ja einen Open Source Kernel benutzt.
Nichtsdestotrotz scheint es sich hier mal wieder um eine Ente zu handeln.

(5m 40s) Steve Jobs was asked about porting Mac OS X to Intel:

Steve Jobs: "The roadmap on the PowerPC actually looks pretty good and there are some advantages to it. As an example, the PowerPC has something in it called AltiVec, we call the Velocity Engine -- it's a vector engine -- it dramatically accelerates media, much better than, as an example, the Intel processors or the AMD processors... so we actually eke out a fair amount of performance from these things when all is said and done. And the roadmap looks pretty good. Now, as you point out, once our transition to Mac OS 10 is complete, which I expect will be around the end of this year or sometime early next year and we get the top 20% of our installed base running 10, and I think the next 20 will come very rapidly after that. Then we'll have options, then we'll have options and we like to have options. But right now, between Motorola and IBM, the roadmap looks pretty decent. "

... so it looks like discussions of OS X on Intel/AMD may be a premature. (despite repeated speculation on this topic)
