Fortnightly Q&A's with Fleecy Moss - episode 23
The English online magazine AmigaWorld has published episode 23 of the regular questions and answers session with Fleecy Moss, CTO at AMIGA, Inc. (Update 2012-03-15, cg: as the original document is no longer available, the following content was moved into our database):
1) Amighista: Is Python to be included in the upcoming OS4.0 release? If yes, which version? Will it include a GUI binding (like wxPython, PyGTK or Python for QT)? Who's the person in charge for the porting?
Fleecy: Python is being considered as the cross platform scripting language for AmigaOS4. It is still too early to talk about the project as AmigaOS4.0 itself is the priority at the moment but progress is being made in determining how to create a version that will integrate well with and make use of all the new features of AmigaOS4. Important issues to consider include the GUI and how best to implement the concept of the "ARexx port".
2) Step: We are continuously seeing improvements on the OS4 front in shape of screenshots, progress reports, etc. but why dont we see this in regards of the DE/Anywhere?
Fleecy: As we have said on several occasions, the AmigaDE was always a technology set from which we were to develop product lines. The first product line we talked about was Amie, which was to be a Smartphone to Server operating environment. However, after 18 months of experience with Intent, it became apparent that it would not be able to span such a wide vision, being better suited to a content solution. This allowed us to restart AmigaOS development, with the aim of developing it over time into something approaching the original Amie concept, whilst implementing the Amiga Anywhere and AACE product lines from the AmigaDE technology set.
The current focus of AACE is content deployment, which means deploying one or more pieces of content in a closed or open mode onto software hosts - Windows, PocketPC, Smartphone, and then Linux and Symbian. We have been concentrating on card, download and on device deployments in standalone format. There have been no screenshots because all you see is the content itself running. Once we have this completed, we will finish the AACE player with the new interface, but again, this is just a content player. If you are looking for the Amie solution then you will be better off playing close attention to AmigaOS4, particular as the AG2 project starts to see technology becoming part of AmigaOS4 releases.
3) Troels: Have any work started in regard to porting DE to AOS4 and who is (or will be) doing the port?
Fleecy: The long announced plan has always been to have AmigaDE technology running on AmigaOS4.2, the first PPC outing for the AmigaDE. This plan has not changed. As is normal, the Tao-Group will do the host port, since the AmigaDE can only run on hosts provided by the Tao-Group. The CII will be exclusively done by them but they have asked that we help them on the PII.
Work on it will start when AmigaOS4.1 has shipped.
4) drebben: Why will the JIT not be used for OS components and how will the system know what is an OS compnent and what is not?
Fleecy: Accelerating only applications eases the JIT design and integration a lot and gives a much cleaner result since there is a clear separation between legacy applications (and their translated code) and the rest of the system. It also gives us the possibility to add certain kinds of code optimisations and otehr JIT options like translation buffer size s.o. on a per application basis.
Another reason are code segments where response time is more important than execution speed, e.g. interrupts.
Of course one could argue that the speed impact resulting from the remaining 68k library parts could result in a bad trade off against the benefits of a cleaner code base but then one should also remember that there will be virtually no time critical 68k code left in the system and therefore also virtually no loss of speed. If push comes to shove we can add a dedicated JIT translation service that takes care of system code but it simply isn't worth the effort.
Regarding the howto: That's a technical detail I don't want to discuss in the public, what can be said is that we can easily track which loaded code segments belong to which task and the JIT makes use of that functionality.
5) HMK: How old versions of AmigaOS will Amiga Inc. support with Boing Bags, security updates (if such), when OS4 gets released?
Fleecy: We obviously want to encourage the community to move towards AmigaOS4.0 with all of its inherent advantages. We also want to encourage them to move to new hardware but recognise that the investment in classic machines and the PPC accelerators has been considerable, which is why we will support them if we can through AmigaOS4.0 and perhaps further.
As far as AmigaOS3 is concerned we have to look at the business arguments for continuing to support it. We are of course interested in the views of the community in this respect. In short, we will end support for AmigaOS3 but it is a question of when.
6) IonMane: Why would you want to develop on a cross-platform environment (= CPE) to draw people specifically to your own platform? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having AmigaOS 4 in the first place?
Fleecy: I'm afraid I don't understand this question, or at least have read it to mean at least two contradictory things. Can you send me a clearer version privately (fleecy@amiga.com) and I'll answer you and have Amigaworld update this Q&A.
7) kvinkunx: Did you already enter into talks with the authors of OpenOffice? This freeware office package already runs on several platforms defined as 'main' and would be really handy for Amiga users, an official approach of Amiga Inc. may convince the authors to do an A1 port I think.
Fleecy: I don't want to provide answers relating to specific third party applications or products but rest assured that we are well aware of the essential applications needed by Amiga users if the Amiga platform is to be a compelling choice for digital users and activity is progressing. I would point out as I have done before that it all boils down to size of market and amount of resources, two things we are working hard to improve.
8) Asemoon: AmigaOS4 is the main reason for me to get an AmigaOne. However I would also like to give Linux a try but I do not want to have to deal with bootloader menus all the time I boot the hardware. Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a bootloader for the AmigaOne which automaticly boots AmigaOS4 and only brings up the bootloader menu after pressing a certain key?
Fleecy: Yes it would 8-)
The situation is more complex than that. The booloader is designed to boot OS4 and Linux (or any other OS that is able to live on RDB partitions); however no actual code for Linux is ready. What we are planning as a temporary measure is yet-another-env-variable with an indicator on which kernel to load by default. The whole issue is only valid if you install OS4 and Linux on the same HD. If you install on different HDs, no problem: you set a default boot method and can change it by interrupting the autoboot.
9) TheJackal: Are there plans for the new graphics library (or Vega) to have the ability to use 32bits per channel, (128bits per pixel). This would allow floats to be used instead of u8's (0..255)?
Fleecy: I don't want to say too much about Vega since we are often accused of talking about things rather than doing. We recognise however that most people will judge AmigaOS4 by what they see and if Vega is to be the mechanism by which what they see is created, then it is going to have to have some pretty impressive and far sighted technology within it.
10) Angrybrit: I'd like to ask about the Media player that's gonna be included in AmigaOS4. Is there gonna be an official one or are we gonna have to adopt a third party like Mplayer/VideoLan?
Fleecy: MooVid is planned for AmigaOS4.0.

SN-EuroArchiv Coin Collecting Program Available from Aminet
SN-EuroArchiv V1.0 is now available from Aminet (109 KB).
SN-EuroArchiv is a coin collection management program designed especially for European coins. It manages single coins, coin sets, memorative coins, coin rolls, and starter sets in a simple fashion and allows an overview of one's coin collection through tables and statistics.
For the next few days to two weeks the appearance of the version 1.1 on Aminet is already being announced. Two functions are included, one for the overview of the conditions and strike quality, along with counting of the Euro coins, and one which points out the expenditures involved with your collection in monthly steps, so that you receive an overview of how much you spent each month on Euro coins. Further, there is to then be a possibility to also calculate the expenses of associated materials like coin cases, albums and so on.

Amithlon: the Amithlon Kernel Project
Because the development of the Amiga emulator Amithlon has ceased for a while, it's become considerably more difficult to get Amithlon to cooperate on modern PC hardware. On account of that Gary Colville decided to start the Amithlon
Kernel Project.
In doing this, Gary has taken advantage of a characteristic of the Amithlon product: Amithlon consists of two components - the actual emulator as well as a tailored Linux kernel, on which the emulator runs. While the former has commercial status and thus may not be modified by outsiders, the latter is under an open source license and may therefore may be expanded by a third party. Through this, support for modern chipsets and graphic cards is made possible.
Because new hardware costs money, and Gary can really only focus on the hardware that he personally owns, he is calling (title link) for financial support from interested users.
Which hardware he can purchase, and thereby support in Amithlon, depends on demand on the part of the users. The most needed support at this time seems to be for the "NForce 2" chipset, used in the products "GeForce FX", "VIA KT600" and "GeForce 4MX."

Amiga Demoscene Archive: Second anniversary
z5 from the Amiga Demoscene Archive writes: "Exactly 2 years ago, we put the first version of A.D.A. online, starting with 123 productions and about 900 screenshots. I hope you had as much fun visiting the site as it was for us maintaining it. Keep the votes and comments coming, because in the end, this is what makes it interesting and this is what will make it a true archive. Motivation is still as high as it was when we started, so here's to another year. Keep the Amiga spirit alive!"

Game: Tamar Needs a New Continent!
It is on us once more. In November 2003 the world of Tamar will contain a new continent. With 280 players the existing parts of Tamar have become full.
Every time this happens Tamar is expanded with further sections. This is an ideal time to jump in the game! Start with 20 to 50 other new testers, and struggle on the same terms in this part of Tamar.
The new territories will next be partitioned off from the other parts of Tamar, allowing the possibility of development independent of the old Lords. Who will be the victor? Who has the best strategy?
We're seeking free testers for Macintosh and PC.
By 15th November, a new version of the PC client that alleviates the slow start time will have appeared. The exact features may be read in the update text.
Tales of Tamar is a PBEM round-based online strategy game (PBEM =
Play By E-Mail) from Eternity, in which you take over the leadership of a people, in a manner similar to the games Kaiser and Civilization, and in which you compete in commerce, diplomacy, and battle to bring your land to riches and glory and honor.

Source Code Released of Civilization: Call to Power II
On 28th October 2003 Activision released for free the source code for the strategy game "Civilization: Call to Power II." It may be downloaded from the website of Apolyton . Because the hardware requirements are moderate, PC hardware with a speed of 166 MHz and memory of 64 megs, nothing should stand in the way technically of a port to Amiga OS or MorphOS. The 8 megs of source contain the main parts of the code necessary to do a port.

GamePlan's Second Offering: Joysticks - Game Controllers from 1972 to 2003
After the success of "GamePlan: Consoles and Home Computers" a new book from the publishing house Gameplan is coming this November: "JOYSTICKS, an Illustrated History of the Game Controller." In cooperation with Take 2, Winnie Forster and Stephan Freundorfer wrote a reference book for all gamers: Joysticks shows the best and coolest, the humblest and the most daring controllers from 30 years of computer and videogame history. From the classic Atari stick to the handy pads of Sega, Sony and Nintendo all the way to the optical precision equipment of the ego shooter and onwards, Joysticks awes, stuns, and amuses gamers of every generation.

For years only geeks got excited about it. They sat, strewn around the globe, at their computers and programmed, criticized, and discussed via the Internet. The rest of the world had no idea what was there in the 'Net: at first glance just some software. Actually the free thinking online community had created an antithesis to Microsoft, the most powerful and largest software house in the world. [...]

Hardware-Hack: CD-writer in original A1200 case
Update (26.10.2012, cg): integrated entire article into news item during database migration
Amiga user Egon Kohlschütter has managed to fit both a CD-ROM and an IDE harddisk into the A1200's original case. The idea is to
move the harddrive to the right of the case (to the position normally occupied by the internal disk drive)
and put the CD-ROM to the left side of the case. The floppy drive had to be removed to gain the neccessary
space (Egon uses an external drive now) and the case had to be slightly modified. This is what the end
result looks like:
Fitting the CD-ROM drive
Get an internal CD-ROM drive (or even a CD-Writer!) targeted for Laptops - these are small enough
to fit into the original case. Some devices that should work are:
- TEAC CD-224E (CD-ROM)
- TEAC CD-W24E (CD-Writer)
These drives use a special IDE connector called "Mini-IDE", so you'll have to find a suitable adaptor. These adaptors
are usually called "Slimline adaptors" (Mini-IDE to IDE-40-pins). As these Laptop-CD-drives are usually jumpered
as "Master" and the internal HD should be "Master" aswell, you should also get one of the myriad of A1200 IDE devices that
enable you to connect up to four drives to your Amiga.
Obviously, you'll have to cut an opening into the case - a CD-ROM not accessible from the outside is not
exactly useful ;-) This image demonstrates the exact position of the drive:
Some hints for the actual case modification:
- open the case, remove the RF shielding and position the CD-ROM
- The drive rests partly on the bottom half of the case
- use a pen to mark the area that has to be cut out
- use a dremel or a similar tool to remove the plastic
- Powerstrip is used to fix the drive at its new position.
Moving the harddrive to its new position
The harddrive will be put where the internal disk drive used to be. Remove the disk drive and make sure
that the internal disk drive connector can not be shortened by accident (e.g. by putting an old IDE or
floppy connector onto it).
The RF shielding may cause short circuits too - make sure that you either remove enough of it to avoid that
or put some isolating material around the harddrive.
The floppy disk drive
When booting, the A1200 will spend a few seconds searching for the internal floppy disk drive. Additionally,
Workbench might complain about the missing disk drive. Both problems can be easily solved by connecting
pins #1 of the internal floppy disk drive connector with the pin below it. The boot process will be slightly
faster after this modification.
But with these pins connected, your A1200 will not recognise external disk drives. Therefore Egon connected
the pins using a switch: The switch is closed most of the time, but you can open it at any time (even if the
machine is already up and running) to access external disk drives and close it again afterwards.
More pictures
Here are some more pictures showing various details of Egon's hack:
Additional notes
The scsi.device included with AmigaOS 3.0/3.1 is not able to handle ATAPI drives (like CD-ROM or CD-RW
drives), so you'll have to use a replacement. AmigaOS 3.5+ comes with an updated scsi.device, another
option would be the shareware IDEFix.
Egon equipped his A1200 with the CD-RW drive mentioned above. BurnIt does not have specific support for this
particular drive, but the generic driver (No. 9) works fine.
If you did not connect the pins on the internal floppy disk drive connector as described above, Workbench may
complain about the missing disk drive - OS 3.5+ users should deactivate drive "DF0:" in the Workbench
preferences to avoid this.
Egon can be contacted at Egone@freenet.de. Please note that his English is (quoting Egon)
"pretty poor", so you may contact us aswell, we'll forward your feedback to Egon.

First Screen-Shots of the New File-sharing Client for AmigaOS
The first screen-shots of "AmigaGift," a KaZaa client for AmigaOS, have been released (click on title link).
Update:
One of the beta testers corrected in an Amigaworld.net thread the misunderstanding that AmigaGift is a pure KaZaa client. AmiGift is said to be modularly organized and currently supports Edonkey, Gnutella and a few other protocols just starting to be offered, as well as KaZaa.

Commodore made computer history once, with home computers like the C64 and Amiga, and then they parted from the computer scene without a lot of noise or singing. Genesi: Website for the planned computer game "Gladiateur" online
The official website for Genesi's computer game project Gladiateur (amiga-news.de reported) is now online at http://Gladiateur.PegasosPPC.com.
Gladiateur - The game
The game takes its inspiration from the stage production by Elie Chouraqui and Maxime Le Forestier, which debuts in Paris in 2004. The game allows you to take the role of Spartacus the Thracian, and lead the slaves in their revolt against the powers of Rome.
Gladiateur is a game development that will not simply lead to the release of a single game. The first release will concentrate of the War of Spartacus, but the game will evolve into a massively multi-player online realm, in which thousands of players will be able to take a part in the adventures and ambitions of the Roman world. Set against the backdrop of the Spartacan revolt, each player will be able to take a side in the rebellion or make their own way, going wherever opportunity takes them. You will be able to become a soldier or a merchant, a pirate or a politician. Players will be able to join together to form their own factions, or work alone. You will be able to live the carefree life of a wandering adventurer, build a powerful trading corporation, or rise to power in the Senate and change the very history of Roman.
The initial release of Gladiateur will use the Northland game engine from Funatics. This is a very sophisticated RTS (Real-Time Strategy) game in its own right, but in Gladiateur it will be extended to provide a unique, genre-busting experience. In the world of Gladiateur, persuasion and popularity is as important as units and resources, and tactics means a lot more than having the biggest army. This is not just another game where you build a base, defend against a few attacks, mass forces and finally rush the enemy base - this is a game set in a dynamic living world of tyrants, peasants and slaves where fear or loyalty can turn the tide of battle, and building trading links can be as important as building armies.
Gladiateur - The musical
Gladiateur is a musical stage spectacular written and produced by Eli Chouraqui, accompanied by a musical score composed by Maxime Le Forestiere. It will debut on 1 October 2004 at the Palais de Sports in Paris, and go on tour in Spring 2005. The music from the show will be released by EC7/Universal Music in 2004.
Eli Chouraqui's previous stage production was Les Dix Commandemants (The Ten Commandments), which debuted in Paris in 2000 and toured France, Switzerland, Belgium and Montreal. An English language version is due to open in 2005. Over 4 million albums, singles and DVDs of the production have already been sold.

Report from Pegasos Technology Demonstration in Washington DC, USA
In his report from the Pegasos Technology Demonstration, which took place Oct. 18th in Washington DC, USA, Daniel Miller writes the following:
MorphOS, Linux, AmiNetRadio, FxPaint, MPlayer, Kaya, ImageFX, free Superbundles, fresh MOS1.4 CDs with IBM stamp, ProStationAudio, presentations, the "VCR" case, complete system pricings, Peg II picture, MOS1.5 timing, MadBomber, and more.
From start to finish this was a really classy affair. I am local to the area and was invited to bring and show my own Pegasos, but this didn't stop me from checking out the scene and watching the presentations. Genesi personnel were really on a mission, giving personal attention, and striving to show the technology at its mindblowing best.
The chief exhibitor was magneticsystemsnyc.com who drove down from Brooklyn with a squad of state-of-the-art Pegasoses, including one of the few G4 models we have on this side of the pond. Four of those systems were configured for MorphOS, the fifth did double duty as an MoL/Debian (Gnome) machine. In addition to my comparatively home-spun system, there was a nice array of Genesi paraphenalia such as a plexuscom concept case, spinning illuminated Peg motherboards, a mechanical butterfly, a sampling of shrinkwrapped games, a Catweasel flipper for display, posters, sellsheets, free Superbundle (v. 3) and MOS1.4 IBM stamp limited silk screen edition CDs. Jammin'!
Now the stuff was neat, and the people were neater, but I must say seeing the cutting edge MOS systems in action was even more neat than that. It was... neat-o! Where to start? well, one of the more striking things was AmiNetRadio. As much as anything else this really illustrated one aspect of the future as Genesi sees it. The live radio stations scroll down in a list, and you select your favorite genre. It very quickly picks up the stream and your music plays. Most streams were at 128, some at 64, so this is fairly high fidelity. You can record your streams to MP3 files on your hard-drive, and them play them in Kaya. This all occurs effortlessly. Why does this illustrate part of Genesi's vision? They see themselves providing media, audio, visual, audiovisual and games via similar tools. Customers are then able to access their favorite media whether they are on walking trails with the planned Eclipsis handheld device, in their homes at their home theater, or at their workplace, whatever. You don't carry around a CD or plunk a videotape in the VCR, you just select your media on whatever device you are nearest and play it. Genesi believes that all this media including high resolution movies will be deliverable as the Pegaos progresses and new Genesi products are introduced. So that's the concept, maybe you like it, maybe you love it.
Another concept, this one now reality, is the "VCR" Pegasos. This was introduced by magneticsystemsnyc.com. What is it? It's a Pegasos in a small case that looks sort of like a VCR. This is offered as a complete Pegasos II system. If you don't want to muck around with assembling your own, you can consider getting one of these. It's nice and uses a half height Radeon video card. I like this, because it is an early step in the shrink-down evolution of Pegasos from standard desktop to set-top box to the handheld computer which is conceptualized to have all the power of a Pegasos.
Bill and Raquel from Genesi were there, as always demonstrating their personal commitment to the platform and its development, and supporting the rest of the Genesi team working towards the goal of a advanced, mature, popular, modern, alternative computer system.
More software: MPlayer was all over the frickin' place. People who demonstrated this system have recognized a winner. On just a G3 600 Mhz Pegasos running MorphOS 1.4 Mplayer is the most quickloading, responsive, compatible videoplayer ever on any platform. I am not spinning you, everybody says this. We all need to send the Mplayer programmers five dollars right now or something. There are few sublime pleasures in life as the first time you starting moving an MPlayer window opaquely around the screen, and realize that there is zero stutter or distortion, no matter how fast you circle it around. Hi-res letterbox or whatever. Of course it goes full screen and has a bunch of control features too.
There was some new image editing software from NovaDesign shown. They make well-established graphical prodcuts like ImageFX and Aladdin 4D. I was not clear on the details, but there is the intention to offer some form of this new software with future MorphOS versions, the Superbundle, or both. This is a clear potential asset to the Pegasos MorphOS product. The prospect of a revamped Aladdin4D ray tracing program for MOS was also talked about. ProStationAudio was shown. This is a really advanced sort of product with a detailed, intricate interface and all these channels and mixing controls and a lot of busy stuff going on all over the screen. It was shown mixing some tracks and certainly sounded good. It seems to me that this is a product for an audio professional, but maybe a casual home user can have fun with it too. Gotta go, I will have to write some more later, especially about... MadBomber!!!
PS: The BB half of BBRV stated MorphOS 1.5 would appear before the new year. Don't let them forget about that TCP-IP stack, thanks.
Photos of the event can be found at PegasosPPC.com.

Cyberstorm: Report on DCE repairs / MorphOS version at the end of this year
CyberStorm Warranty Repairs
As mentioned on the thread at Amiga.org earlier, all CyberStorm boards sent in under warranty will be replaced by new ones. The production of these is partly done, the PCB's are there with all lower part components fitted. The problem currently is the lack of availability of the right 68K sockets. The ones that were originally used for the Phase5 and later DCE productions were specially made for Phase5 and are no longer being manufactured. However, there are several investigations ongoing at other manufacturers to adapt existing (and available) connectors to be fitted to the CyberStorm PCB's. Once this is solved, the production will be completed and all involved will receive new CyberStorm cards under warranty.
Non-Warranty Repairs
All non-warranty repair customers should have had a price quote from me. The repairs that could be done have been completed and all cards have been sent back or will be sent back in the next week. There are also repairs that are pending awaiting CPU sockets (see above).
Non-Repairable Items
Repairs that could not be done have also been sent back or will be next week. Several cards have been sent back by DCE already, others will be returned by me from Rotterdam next week.
Other Factors
During investigating the whole repairs issue, several disturbing things have come to my attention. There are cases of repairs not being done because they have been submitted through a reseller that has had outstanding invoices for three years, and also cases where repairs were done and sent back to a reseller, who then sold them as new products. I will not disclose specific information but just wanted to state this in DCE's defence, they're not always the one to blame...
Genesi Gesture
As a gesture from Genesi, there will be a new release of MorphOS for 'classic Amiga' PowerPC cards available for free. The planned release is at the end of this year.
DCE and Genesi
Several people have opted their concern in the Amiga.org thread about possible future repairs at DCE for Genesi products. First of all, please consider that the Amiga repairs are a special situation and it is not common for repairs to take this long, not even for DCE. Furthermore, anyone buying a PegasosII is dealing with Genesi, not with DCE. If there is a case where a Genesi product needs repair or replacement, Genesi will see to it that it happens the right way and in a decent timeframe. For reference see our history with the mainboard exchanges for April and April2 fixed boards. These were made at DCE too!
Preliminary Conclusion
Apart from the wait for the right 68K sockets, most issues are either done or will be in the next week. There are however still some unallocated cards at DCE. Anyone that also thinks they have an outstanding repair at DCE and has not been in contact with me yet, please do so NOW, as we are working towards concluding the whole operation and at some point soon we will not take on any more investigations. If you have sent in your repair to a reseller be sure to mention which one explicitely.

Ron van Herk

Report from LinuxInfoTag in Dresden, Germany
At the first LinuxInfoTag in Dresden, Germany, on Oct. 18th, the Image_Installer team presented the Pegasos. We did not expect such a big success and were surprised by the scores of visitors crowding our stand who were interested in the system. They represented several platforms, from Amiga users to people using x86 systems.
One could test the system, and some visitors made use of the opportunity to install Mandrake 9.1 themselves on the Pegasos using the Image_Installer. They were surprised in a positive way and amazed how quick and easy the installation was finished. Also MorphOS didn't get a raw deal. The visitors tested the SuperBundle and were impressed by the speed of the system, despite just having a 600 MHz CPU.
When we had a little bit of time, Michael Heider of course continued to work on Image_Installer and removing bugs. We can say with quiet conscience that with version 2 of the Image_Installer an easy installation of PegXLin and Gentoo is possible. To the question if this version would also be free or enclosed with the Pegasos we had to answer "no" for the time being, since we don't know this ourselves yet.
At the KDE team one could see a pre-release of the new KDE 3.2. New applications were added as well as graphical improvements. Daniel Molkentin demonstrated among other things an Outlook clone and a faster webbrowser.
Also some people from the Debian team were there. They showed Debian 3.0 for the x86 platform and provided help to questions regarding installation and adjustment of Debian to x86 systems.
Bert Radke of the Jabber team showed the latest version of Jabber. One could get information how a Jabber server is build up and which advantages Jabber provides.
At IBM students could get information about new notebooks. Computers from desktops for the office to servers were shown by AMD, who also provided the Internet connection for the show.
Further small projects were free games for Linux and the topic "Linux at school and university" by the university of Dresden.
Furthermore the visitors could take part at an Install-Party during the whole day to solve problems.
