PC-Magazin Reports on Amiga
PC-Magazin [refers to German edition -dm] reports in its January, 2003 issue on page 15 under the heading New AmigaOne Platform - OS4 Will be Delivered Afterwards about the new AmigaOne.

In this article (which will only appear in the print magazine) it is reported that Eyetech wants to bring the AmigaOne to market before the end of 2002. It is further reported that two mainboards, the AmigaOne GS-SE and the AmigaOne XE will operate under Linux because Amiga OS4 is not ready yet. Additionally it's explained that the boards are based on PPC G3 CPU, are fitted with PC133 SDRAM, work with the VIA-Southbridge 82C686B, but of all things only four USB-1.1 ports will be supported. It is thoroughly described that over two AGP, one 66-MHz-PCI and three 33-MHz-PCI cards may be inserted. Towards the end of the article the different CPUs and pricing are discussed, and in the article it is said to be unclear when Amiga OS4 will appear, at which point Eyetech suggests that the software could be delivered by the end of the year, or the beginning of 2003 at the latest.

A picture is shown in which part of a mainboard with a PowerPC CPU may be seen. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Amiga Arena: OctaMED Soundstudio Notification and Poll
Olaf Köbnik:
After Amiga Arena was able to make possible the further development of the beloved route planner "AmiATLAS," and until today the free release of many shareware programs, we are very happy to share with you that another valuable part of Amiga software history will be further developed as we move into the future.

Through so far positive talks I succeeded in convincing RBF Software (Ray Burt Frost) that "OctaMED SoundStudio" for the Amiga should be further developed.

The sources are already in the possession of possible future developers for a closer look. After evaluating considerations and market conditions and the last contractual agreements of both parties the advancement of the development should proceed as quickly as possible.

To identify bugs in the short term and add new functions in the future everyone is requested to send reports and suggestions on these subjects Amiga Arena or alternately you could post these in the news forum of our partner site amiga-news.de.

Please share with me in this interest for further development of OctaMED, all your experiences and wishes! (ps) (Translation: dm)

Amiga Complete without Software for Tax Clarifications?
Andreas Just:
I got the following mail from Fa. Olufs yesterday (shortened):

Your update of the income tax program for 2002 is ready. All legal changes including the tax effects of the Riester pension. The self-printed forms are of good quality and the price has not been changed.

[snip ...]

Note to Amiga and Atari customers: we had to shutter this enterprise, but you'll have a lot of joy with the Windows version.

On the homepage there is no direct notice given, except that no updates are available for Amiga. It is such a shame to lose another program. (ps)

False OS4 Beta Possibly a Trojan
In the last few days a so-named Amiga OS4 beta has popped up. It is anything but a real beta version. An investigation revealed that the program gives out a series of messages and pictures from WoASE that have been childishly altered.

It is unknown if the program also tries to harm one's data, therefore we wish to warn everybody to avoid running it. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Amiga Future Urgently Needs a Layout Person
The print magazine 'Amiga Future' is urgently seeking a new layout person. This new person should have the necessary hardware and software, and experience.

Amiga Future is a non-profit project. This means that collected funds, which are counted, are divided between the editors and the layout person. The publication itself doesn't earn anything.

So the layout person doesn't work for nothing... but he or she surely won't get rich! Interested layout people may apply as soon as possible to redaktion@amigafuture.de or better give us a call 0174/9197036 (24h).

Because of this problem we aren't sure when the issue #39 of Amiga Future will be published. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Eyetech: A Few Clarifications and Explanations about the AmigaOne
On the AmigaOne mailing list Alan Redhouse (Eyetech) talked about a few points (click on the title link for the full email) that were not clear until now:

The AmigaOneG3-SE will be delivered without an AMR (Audio-Modem-Riser) card, because Eyetech couldn't get any at reasonable prices. AmigaOne Customers who buy an SE model must therefore rely on external modems and a PCI soundcard instead of the integrated AMR slot.

Ole-Egil Hvitmyren (one of the AmigaOne testers) has personally developed an AR (Audio Riser) card, without modem. He will offer these at a "very reasonable" [quotes are Alan Redhouse's] price.

The Amiga One-XE motherboards are not affected by this: they don't have an AMR slot, the audio output goes directly out on this model.

Work is occuring on a list of hardware that has been tested with the Amiga One. It was stated that to use this stuff under OS 4 is going to require Amiga drivers, so pay attention to what Hyperion says about it.

The "Earlybird" systems will come with an installation diskette and a minimal version of SUSE Linux. Additionally provided are UAE and a licensed Amiga Kickstart ROM image.

The Escena PCI cards that were to allow the AmigaOne to access the custom chips of an attached A1200 motherboard are considered by Eyetech to be "probably not existent," because no information about the current status of the cards could be obtained from Escena.

Update: (26.07.2014, cg)

A complete copy of Alan Redhouse's mail (added since the Original has been moved elsewhere by Yahoogroups apparently):

After having some feedback from the A1 dev list the AMR card issue has now
been decided.

The G3-SE boards will not come with an AMR riser card as we have not been
able to source these at a sensible price. However Ole-Egil is rolling into
production soon with and audio-only in/out card for the AMR slot and those
AmigaOneG3-SE purchasers that want one will be able to buy one directly
from him ad a very reasonable price. (If we were to sell them then the
additional margin, VAT and shipping that we would have to add would mean
that it would have to cost considerably more to the end user). However the
G3-SE boards will be shipped with (small, quiet) cpu fans and modified ATX
I/O backplates within the published price (ie ukp360/euro580/usd580 ex-VAT)
which I hope helps.

We did not consider the loss of the modem to be too important as most Amiga
users will have external modems - or ethernet broadband connections - anyway

For those that require an entry-level sound card to get going we can supply
the Creative labs Vibra 128 card for UKP10/euro16/usd16 ex VAT.

The production version of the AmigaOne-XE boards (now in manufacture) will
come with an onboard codec etc and audio sockets in the usual positions on
the ATX I/O knockout - and no AMR slot.

A list of tested hardware is being assembled by people on the A1-dev list
and will be made public shortly. Clearly as far as graphics and other
PCI/AGP cards are concerned these should be chosen from the OS4 support
targets, and not just those that are supported by PPCLinux. The Articia
northbridge uses server-type registered RAM and a list of tested, supported
RAM manufacturers/part numbers will also be included. Quite a few
non-registered SDRAM DIMMs will also work, but only as singles (ie you can
only have one slot populated) These also will be available types will be
included on the list as well.

For the 'Earlybird' systems the SuSE Linux PPC installer is now complete
and comes with a licenced UAE PPC + ROM image. We will be shipping bare
boards with this installer disk and a minimal SuSE linux distro, but unless
you are experienced with Linux we recommend that you buy the full SuSE
LinuxPPC distro with 8 CD's and manuals either from us or elsewhere.

Finally we have been unable to find out from Escena what, if any, progress
that they have made on their PCI-A1200 bridge card so I think that it is
fair to assume that this is unlikely to materialise. However the benefits
of that approach - over networking a 1200 to the A1 and using the latter as
a file etc server - are in my view minimal anyway. This is because most
non-retargetable (eg games) software will get no advantage by running on
the G4 (rather than the A1200+accelerator), and the keyboard and monitor
would have needed switching with either approach. We do still have some
Mk4/5 EZTowers available for anyone who would like to have their A1 and
A1200 networked together in the same case.

Hope this helps

Alan

Hello GRex users,

Intel Pentium 4 with 3 GHz in multitasking
The Intel Corporation introduced last week the new Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading (HT) technology and a clock frequency of 3,06 GHz. With this does the chip producer not only manage to jump over the 3 GHz mark but also to make desktop PCs up to 25% more powerful when using the new HT technology. These systems can execute several programs or requests by the computer at the same time with no delay they say at Intel. According to Intel, leading computer manufacturers worldwide will offer PCs with support for the HT technology and on the basis of the Pentium 4 processor with 3,06 GHz from now on. Computers using this processor technology will be recognisable through the "HT" symbol in the Pentium logo. (ps) (Translation: wk)

Alpha-GUI for Autotrace 0.31.1
Carsten Siegner writes: I've prepared an alpha version of my GUI (graphic user inteface) "Vectormaker." This GUI works with the program Autotrace, which was released today (as reported). Autotrace is a vectorizing program with which one can trace an almost inexhaustible quantity on graphic formats, or convert existing vector formats into others.

The list of entry formats numbers more than 50! I decided to make a GUI because there are more than a few shell options, and the program is faster than Xtrace according to early tests.

This GUI acommodates first only the most important input possibilities, such as saving and loading file requestors and the possibility to specify the input output file types. Because there are so many options, more and more will be added. Whoever would like to test this GUI, just send me an e-Mail.

Testing Report: Radio Keyboard and Mouse on Amiga
When I attended the club meeting of AmCluSt early this month, I was impressed with the radio keyboard and mouse from Michael Göken. These were made possible through two components: The MMKeyboard-Adapter from Guido Mersmann and the PS/2 adapter building instructions (hard/hack/ps2m.lha) from Denis Sotchenko. Following these instructions Guido built me a PS/2 adapter in more than an hour of detailed work, so thanks again, sincerely! Whoever is interested in an MMKeyboard-Adapter from Guido Mersmann should send an email to him.

The opportunity to try out Tevion's radio-controlled keyboard and mouse came about because Aldi was offering it inexpensively. Both adapters worked perfectly on my Amiga 4000 T. It's very pleasant to have a table top free of coiled cables.

In any case the crux of the matter is the program MMKeyboard.lha by Guido Mersmann. It allows every key of the multimedia keyboard to be individually configured. Here is the official short description of the program:

MMKeyboard allows the use of Windows keyboards on Amiga. Beyond that, it makes it possible to start programs with the multimedia keys and much more. There are none of the driver problems as are found on the PC! A little Commodity activates all the "non-standard" keys on every keyboard! Even future keys will work! MMKeyboard also offers a real hardware password login with an optional, selectable Amiga skin, full reset handler compatibility, and many other configuration options.

All in all I find that these are very good and useful creations which allow me to write the news more easily :). (ps) (Translation: dm)

Developer Tool: CVS Version 1.11.2 AmigaOS/MorphOS Port Bugfix Update (2)
Today Jens Langner prepared an important bugfix of the AmigaOS and MorphOS ports of CVS (Concurrent Versions System), the program he jointly developed with Olaf Barthel. This may be downloaded by clicking on the title link. In this version (of 21st November, 2002) the main thing is the bugfix, that corrected one big mistake in the last version. It had to do with problems with "committen" of new files, but this should be taken care of now.

As always the update may be found at http://amcvs.light-speed.de and also downloaded from Aminet in the next few days.

22nd November, 2002 addition:
Jens Langner made a comment: I undertook another bugfix today, and uploaded the current version to the website. It was a bug in the temporary data routines. Everything should now be stable, so far. (ps) (Translation: dm)

You can select a picture and then browse through the picture's directory by simply pressing cursor up and down. AmigaSeeDC is also able to zoom in and out. It took me only 1 hour to program AmigaSeeDC with Hollywood. And of course this cool example program is included on the Hollywood CD-ROM. If you've always wanted a viewer program for your Amiga that is standard on every PC, order Hollywood now. I also use AmigaSeeDC privately because it's really cool. (ps)

Offensive Elbox driver and consequences for Poseidon
Chris Hodges writes:

Dear Poseidon Users,

in the last few days, there were rumours posted to ann.lu, claiming that the usb.device, that is provided by Elbox Computer Inc. for the Spider USB PCI card would contain malicious code. This code was posted disassembled on various websites. This source code, if assemblied into an executable, would indeed have the ability to kill the RDB (if it was found in block 0). Code destroying data on purpose like this is illegal in most countries (including Germany) and moreover, is one of the ethically worst things I've ever seen.

As the source of this security warning was an anonymous poster and therefore was not reliable, I wanted to check for myself. So I loaded the usb.device (some friendly Mediator user sent me, as Elbox never offered me a SpiderCD to check the contents of the CD), let it decrypt itself and just searched for the 'RDSK' string in the driver (as seen on the disassembled source code on the websites). No disassembly was used. The string was found. I could therefore verify that the offensive code is at least in version 1.2 of the device, I had here to test (there is absolutely NO reason why 'RDSK' would appear in an usb hardware device driver).

I gave Elbox the chance to clear things up in public by posting an apology and removing the code. They didn't. Instead, they said that all my "doubts" would be answered in the press statement released yesterday and ignored the consequences that I already had proposed to them.

Well, my "doubts", which actually are facts, that I could see with my own eyes, remain. Any Mediator user can check this by using a memory monitor and searching for the usb.device in memory (after loading up Poseidon) and see, if there's the 'RDSK' ID string within the next 10000 bytes.

As a consequence, I have to warn Mediator users that their machine is in danger, when running the usb.device. In the non-memory protected Amiga environment it might get damaged at any time and then cause the routine that kills the RDB to become active. The next update of Poseidon will refuse to load up the usb.device, if it detects malicious code. This is to protect yourself from damage and myself from being held liable for any loss of data or damage done.

Moreover, I hereby withdraw the permission to include Poseidon in ELBOX's software distributions, until they
  1. admit, that the code was in their driver,
  2. admit, that they have constantly lied to the users,
  3. have placed a public apology for the first time in their life,
  4. and have removed any malicious code.
I don't want Poseidon to be included with third party software, that's highly illegal and whose originators don't deserve any trust.

I do understand that people try to protect their work from being hacked. I do this too, but not by risking the data of legal users and I cannot tolerate this offensive behaviour any longer (I admit, I'm again rather upset and therefore this statement is not as objective as it could have been).

The Spider users out there are adviced to confront Elbox with the demands mentioned above, so to allow Poseidon again accept the usb.device driver.

I hope that you believe the facts and my worries and understand the steps taken. (ps)

Elbox dispels rumours about usb.device
Press release: For long years, our company has been making efforts to make users of our hardware proud that they receive the best software support. This support is also the most dynamically expanded in the Amiga market.

Some persons/companies do not like this situation, as they would like to compete with Elbox. They know they cannot, though: they have no knowledge or employees to work with or determination to provide on-going support for their products. However, we continue receiving signals from various sources on attempts at disassembling and hacking our drivers for the purpose of stealing the results of our efforts and work.

In recent days the Amiga community witnessed rumours related to our latest product: the Spider USB 2.0 card. In order to clarify this we feel obliged to respond officially to them.

Rumour: Using the Elbox usb.device with an USB PCI card other than Spider USB 2.0 High-Speed may lead to trashing the disk RDB.

Answer: Not true.
If anyone is trying to run the Elbox usb.device with any USB PCI card other than Spider USB 2.0 (for which this driver is dedicated), the only result is that the driver does not work with this card and a requester window appears on the screen: 'No Spider USB 2.0 card found.'

Rumour: Whoever has a Mediator may modify Spider drivers so that they support USB PCI cards from other parties.

Answer: No.
The Elbox usb.device is software protected by international copyright law. Only owners of the Spider card are licensed to use these drivers (the drivers are bundled with the cards). The only legal way to acquire the usb.device drivers is to buy the original Spider package. The software is always licensed for a specific person and only that person. The licence for using the driver does not give any right to modify the code (which is property of Elbox).

Rumour: The usb.device driver has some procedures, which may damage hdd RDB if any external program accidentally damages the driver code.

Answer: No.
Elbox pays much attention to protect its drivers against any improper operation in case of accidental damage to their code by any external events. To ensure this, Elbox drivers are encrypted. When run, they automatically decrypt themselves and verify internal checksums to guarantee the maximum security of operation. This is the best way to prevent program crash if, due to any reason, the code is damaged when read from the media.

Obviously, even such protection measures cannot protect the program against a hacking attack, that is against a program, which purposefully modifies the code to make some part of it operate in a way different from the original intention. No software available for Amiga computers, including Amiga operating systems, can be 100% protected against such hacking attacks.

We hope that what we have stated here explains away all the doubts for good. As always, we stand with full guarantee for our software and our registered users have no reasons to worry. We develop and distribute software, which is reliable, efficient and innovative.

After inauguration of the new servers - among other places one in Tokio and two in the USA - the response times for DE domains were decreased dramatically. Recently Internet users from Japan, Corea, China or Australia had to wait 300 milli seconds avaragely, this values were more than halved now. Most drastically this decrease shows effect in Japan where the times were cut from 270 to less than 5 milli seconds. Requests from the USA for DE domains are also answered faster now by the both new servers at the American east and west coast. The response times were reduced from about 170 to 70 milli seconds. more ... (ps) (Translation: ub)

Virus Help Denmark online again
Jan Andersen writes:
Hi all.....

It has been some time now, I have been moving and I have had no Internet connection. But just to inform you all that I'm alive and still kicking....

I got an email from Charlene, that she had a hard disk crach. So I have desided to make an emergency Virus Help page, where users can get the latest antivirus programs. I'll do the uploading from my work computer (my boss does not mind) :-)

Okay, so the Virus Help Denmark page in up and running at a small size, but all the latest Antivirus programs are on it. And only Amiga stuff is for download.

The complete Virus Help Denmark website will be up on the 1'th of December 2002. Then I get my ADSL connection back.

I know that this has been as much a problem for you, as it has been for me. But this was out of my hands !!!!

My new email is: vht-dk@mail.dk
VHT-Denmark: www.vht-dk.dk

I hope to hear from you all soon.....

Kind Regards

Flash: Swfplayer V1.2c (07-Nov-2002)
Alexandre Balaban published the version 1.2c of the independently running Shockwave Player 'Swfplayer' in the Aminet. The Player is based on libflash for Linux by Olivier Debon. In this version the PPC support (WarpOS) was added. In detail in relation to the previous version the following changed:
  • New: Loop-Play-Option.
  • New: PPC-version for WarpOS (WOS)
  • Changed: improved Makefiles
The Player supports Flash files up to version 4 and some Flash 5 features. It runs on 68040+ or PPC and needs AGA (thus also on graphic cards). Further information can be found in the Readme of the program as well as notes about well-known problems.

Amiga Quake2 Page Online
In cooperation with Daniel Schultz: an Amiga Quake 2 webpage has been started, on which additional material regarding Quake 2 for AmigaOS will be published in the future - such as new mods and levels, whether created by users or downloaded from the server.

Originally there were 41 Quake 2 mods for AmigaOS. Since then there have been another 20 mods. These additional mods will be downloadable from the Quake2 page. So there will be 2 or 3 mods offered for download weekly, just check the page and don't miss them.

To start off, the following three mods are offered:
  • ChaosDM - one of the best Deathmatch mods for Quake 2
  • Star Trek - contains the entire Enterprise as a level (and new weapons)
  • Bots - "Battle of the Sexes" - a CTF Mod, based on classes, in which a male team and a female team go up against each other.
The requirements to be able to use these mods are that you must have Quake2 for Amiga installed. Quake2 is available from retailers now.

Amiga Arena: Full Version of WBMenu`97
In cooperation with Manfred L. and with the approval of H. Röhricht Amiga Arena is making possible a further classic full version of WBMenu`97. Here is a snip from the handbook:

WBMenu`97 is a multifunctional high speed data bank system with an intuitive user interface, with which you are placed in a position where you can have an overview and manage and start all of your programs. To this end WBMenu`97 offers functions, for which unless several programs must be inserted, and is an offer to all who wish to get the most from their computers.

Thereby it doesn't matter what particular use you make of your computer. WBMenu`97 is the first program of its type, that can take over full control of the system. Whether it is the binding of hardware drivers or the loading of the Workbench, it's "no problem" for WBMenu '97.

You'll find more information in the handbook for WBMenu`97! (ps) (Translation: dm)

Audio: AHI/PPC 6 only for MorphOS and AmigaOS 4
Martin Blom, the developer of the soundcard driver system AHI, has reiterated that there will be neither PowerUp nor WarpUp versions. There is only the MorphOS version (available) and the AmigaOS 4 version (planned).

Here is his original announcement:

"Yes, indeed, today is November 7th, not July 11th. Anyway, I've been asked to clarify one thing regarding the PPC version of AHI. There will be no WarpUp version, nor will there be any PowerUp version. The reason is that neither of these two systems allow PPC code to be invoked from within an interrupt?, which is an absolute requirement for AHI. The current PPC version is for MorphOS only. In the future, I hope to have an AmigaOS 4 version as well.

1) While it should have been obvious by reading the PowerUp documentation, there is nothing in the WarpUp documentation or the actual design that suggests that it will not work; in WarpUp, it could be possible if the implementation had allowed it. In any case, the days when I could be bothered to write for a mixed CPU system are since long gone..." (ps) (Translation: dm)

Quake2 Amiga Port Available
On the 2nd of November 2002 at the WOASE convention in London, Quake 2 for AmigaOS officially went on sale. The game was demonstrated in a "Death Match" between three Amigas. It ran a custom level which was specially created for the convention. The network server was a PC, in order to demonstrate that PC users and Amigans may play in the same TCP/IP multiplayer network, however naturally an Amiga could also be used as a server. The Quake2 packet for Amiga contains an easy-to-use installer script, a startup GUI, and documentation in AmigaGuide format, including the original version of Quake2 for Windows, which contains the data files.

Over 55 Quake2 mods are to be offered for Quake2 through different channels, including the Internet.

Quake2 for AmigaOS will become available from your local Amiga dealer sometime this week. The price may vary from dealer to dealer.

Pegasos in the Microwave and Three More Bundles
After the successful appearance of Thendic-France and bPlan at the World of Amiga South-East 2002 last Saturday, some new Pegasos-related developments became known. The first four Pegasos-bundles have been determined:
  • The unusual "VideoMicrowave" is a remodeled steel microwave with an LCD display as the door and a Pegasos board on the inside. You'll find information at http://www.videomicrowave.net.
  • The "Development Suite" is a developer package for the Pegasos, Eclipsis, and Pegasos server stack.
  • The "Pega-shush" is a home-server for the long-endurance business of integrating with other entertainment electronics. The communications occur over a 802.11b network card.
  • The "Games Package" is an offer especially for friends of good game value. More details will be announced at http://www.pegasosppc.com.

On the 16th of November Thendic-France will spend some time in Poland at the Amiga Show 2002, and they are going to bring a bunch of Pegasos equipment to test on the basis of a new ISO installation [new MorphOS version - dm]. This will be the first showing of the Pegasos Wireless Camera with the display software to be seen on an iPAQ (this is just a temporary solution until the Eclipsis prototype is ready). ScummVM News: It's a SCUMMy job, but someone's...
ScummVM is an engine, an engine which enables you to play the old classics of LucasArts such as The Dig, Indiana Jones 1 & 2, and Sam & Max under AmigaOS and MorphOS.

After the license discussion with LucasArts the contact with the American operation was broken off. As long as LucasArts doesn't respond with a veto of the software, work will proceed energetically on ScummVM-Release 0.3.0, which will support the following games:
  • Zak McKracken (FmTowns 256 Color Version)
  • Monkey Island (VGA Floppy and Enhanced CD)
  • Monkey Island II
  • Loom (CD Talkie version)
  • Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
  • Day of the Tentacle
  • Sam and Max Hit the Road
  • The Dig
  • Simon The Sorcerer 1

The next big release, 0.4.0, will support the following games:
  • Simon The Sorcerer 2
  • Full Throttle
  • Indiana Jones and Last Crusade (256 color version)

How can you as a user help? You can test the supported titles and report the mistakes that make it impossible to complete the game. You should go over the details at Information on Release 0.3.0. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Amiga to create games and other content for Microsoft Windows for Smartphone 2002 Software

Snoqualmie, WA, Nov 6, 2002 - Amiga, a leader in games and entertainment software, today announced the release of games targeting Windows Powered Smartphones. Using the Amiga Anywhere Content Engine and their new "App Pak" technology, applications written for Windows Powered Pocket PC handheld computers will now be available for Smartphones as well. In addition, Amiga intends to build specific games and productivity applications that take advantage of the unique characteristics of devices running Microsoft Windows for Smartphone.

"Amiga has partnered with Microsoft to create the best experience for games and entertainment on Smartphone devices", said Bill McEwen, CEO of Amiga. "We have been an early adopter of Microsoft Windows for Smartphone because of our belief that it can revolutionize the mobile experience. With our new App Pak technology, users can access applications on their PDA or Smartphone without having to install them from their personal computer."

App Pak applications are distributed on memory cards. Users will be able to purchase the cards from their retail store and immediately use them. In less than 60 seconds, users can enjoy games and other applications with just by inserting their card. Just insert the card in the appropriate slot, click, and play. App Pak applications use little storage space on local systems making them more functional for PDA and Smartphone devices with limited resources.

"The Windows Powered Smartphone enables users to do what they want, when they want, from business productivity to entertainment," said Mary Rose Becker, group marketing manager for Mobile Devices at Microsoft Corp. "We're thrilled that Amiga is releasing it's games for the Smartphone platform, providing our mutual customers with compelling entertainment options."

Amiga will begin shipping games and other applications for Smartphone in time for the holiday season this year. To learn more about Amiga visit www.amiga.com or www.shopamiga.com. Multimedia authoring system: Hollywood available
Andreas Falkenhahn wrote:
Finally! After a long time of development, the Multimedia authoring system Hollywood is available. Hollywood is a powerful and extensive program which is unique on the Amiga. You could compare Hollywood with a modern version of Scala: But Hollywood works fully in 24bit mode and uses only system functions to grant compatibility on every Amiga system. Because of this extreme system friendly programming Hollywood does also run on Amiga emulators with great speed. Versions of Hollywood for MorphOS and AmigaOS4 and maybe also AROS are planned. On the Hollywood product page you will find an extensive overview including screenshots from the program. In the next days some applications done with Hollywood will be presented here. Hollywood is delivered on CD-ROM and can be ordered now. more ... (ps)
