IBM introduces Dual-970MP Blades with 2,5GHz and 2,7GHz
No longer Apple but IBM is operating the fastest PPC: The completely renewed JS21 blades are using two 970MP at a time with a little extent- as dual cpu with 2,5 GHz or with a deactivated second core but 2,7 GHz then. Besides an updated I/O infrastructure IBM has also announced own Cell based Blades for the third quarter in 2006.

IBM is planning POWER 6 CPUs with more than 5 GHz / Freescale joins Power.org
Concerning the clock speed IBM power processors had to stand back behind the competition so far. At the International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) in 2006 IBM now showed that the POWER 6 processors, which are still under way, can absolutely manage more than 5 GHz and a higher clock speed.

The new beta release of the accountmanagment software HomeBank fixes
minor errors, includes some changes at the GUI-Layout and provides several

The author works at this moment on a Linux/GTK port, but the development

The in order of the Film and softwareindustrie working "Gesellschaft zur
Verfolgung von Urheberrechtsverletzungen (GVU) (Companie to protect

WHDLoad: New Packet til 05.02.2006
With WHDLoad ist it possible to install games and Scene-Demos on a
harddisk, with are only made to work with floppydisks.
Also several inkompatibility problems with newer Amiga-Models will be
fixed.

AmigaOS 4: YACAS - Yet Another Computer Algebra System
Andrea Palmatè ported version 1.0.61 ofYACAS, a program for symbolic algebra, to AmigaOS4. Symbolic algebra means the manipulating of algebraic expressions. Examples are the expanding and factorising of polynoms or symbolic differentiating and integrating. A comprehensive guide is part of the archive (appr. 320 pages).

AmigaOS 4: PowerIcons 51.4
Massimo Tantignone released a PowerIcons update for AmigaOS 4. Version 51.4 is for bug fixing: fixed were a erraneous bitmap initialising and the missing four pixels in the "Left out" symbol.

The Public Patent Foundation (PUBPAT) was successfull with their petition for validating Forgent's US patent Nr. 4,698,672. According to

MMC64 sold out
The flashcard reader for the C64 by Oliver Achten is selling constantly to fans of the Commodore 64 computer. In the past days, the last units have been shipped to our worldwide trade partners. All dealers now have a small stock, so hopefully there will be no shortage. Even when prices in online auctions for the MMC64 are already rising (one has been sold for more than 70,- EUR!), there's no reason to spend more than the recommended retail price of 49,- EUR*. A new production run has already been started. We hope to continue to deliver to our resellers without any interruption.
