Rogue-like game: Roguecraft DX 1.8
In September 2024, Badger Punch Games released their rogue-like game "Roguecraft" (amiga-news.de reported). Licensed and distributed by Thalamus Digital, the game was later released as "Roguecraft DX" for PC and the Evercade handheld console, among others. This expanded version was ported back to the Amiga (video) and offers the following new features:
  • There are now 15 levels to explore, compared to the original 10.
  • Your journey now begins in The Wilderness, a new area outside the dungeon.
  • There are 80 additional room variations and numerous visual improvements to the background tiles.
  • Secret rooms are easier to discover with additional visual cues.
  • New monsters await in the depths of the dungeon to challenge you, including Old Thang, Oogles and Bluethulhu.
  • Snark and Skorpeeo monsters can now poison you. If you are poisoned a skull appears in the effect area.
  • New types of potions have been added, including Invisibility, Regeneration, Confuse Monsters
  • Treasure chests can now spawn Divine Intervention, a rare item that revives you once if you die.
  • Upgrade gems now blink when spawning into a room, making them easier to see.
  • The Rogue's Teleportation ability has been improved: it now teleports you close to a door, does not cost a turn to use, and activates a new Backstab ability.
  • The Rogue has a new Backstab ability: after teleporting, Rogue has maximum class damage and very high chance to hit, for 4 turns.
  • Some balance adjustments have been made: Camazotz no longer takes damage from spikes, acid and fire, and Sluggoth no longer takes damage from acid.
  • A high score table allows you to track your top five scores, including the character you were playing, the level reached, and the potions that were in play.
  • High scores for completed runs will have a star mark next to them.
  • Achievements give you optional challenges to complete across all your runs. Some are obvious, others less so!
  • There are several new music tracks, composed by Jogeir Liljedahl; you can hear them as you progress through the different levels of the dungeon.
  • There are new sound effects to accompany the other new features.
  • The title screen has new animations and the in-game background image has been improved.
  • Player and monster animations have been upgraded.
The Amiga version is available as "WHDLoad" and cannot be played from disk. The game requires at least 2 MB of chip RAM and 2 MB of other RAM. (dr)
