MultibootOS 2.2 for PiStorm
Press release: MultibootOS 2.2 has been released, continuing development of the multi-boot environment for PiStorm-equipped Amiga systems. MultibootOS allows multiple Amiga distributions to be run from a single microSD card, avoiding the need to swap cards or use external extenders. It supports real hardware such as Amiga 500, 600, 1200 and 2000 with PiStorm, as well as emulation via WinUAE and FS-UAE.

Version 2.2 is provided as a new image and cannot be updated in place from 2.1.x due to changes in partition structure and included components. It includes updated distributions such as CaffeineOS 9317 and Amiga Game Selector 3.0a, along with a number of functional improvements.

Key changes include:
  • Network support in AmigaOS and CLI environments
  • Online update capability directly from the Amiga
  • New Emu68 kernels with experimental FrameThrower support
  • USB support for compatible Raspberry Pi models
  • General optimisations and bug fixes
From this version onwards, activation requires a free, manually issued UserID, which is used to personalise the installation and enable updates.

MultibootOS remains free to use, although licensed systems such as AmigaOS 3.2 or AmiKit must be supplied separately by the user.

More information and downloads are available at the project website at the title link. A video on what's new in 2.2 can be found at YouTube. (snx)
