Preview Video: Platformer "Freestyle - Tales of ..." Mark Pursell, an Australian illustrator and creator of the "Freestyle" comic series, is currently developing a platformer based on the series using the Scorpion Engine. As the author reports, developing this game has "always been a childhood dream" of his, since he created these characters at a time when the Amiga was still considered the leading platform. Back then, however, he didn’t have the necessary skills to do so. The game itself is a genre mix that, much like his comics, is largely based on parodies and references to other games and media. This video offers only a first impression: much of it doesn’t work yet, much is unfinished, and there is still a lot to add and get up and running. Some parts, such as the opening scene of the "Cartype" level, he had just quickly cobbled together to see if he could get it to work. Collision detection is also still largely disabled.
