Rediscovered: The game "Breed 96"
In a video, developer Damian Tarnawsky presents his game "Breed 96", which he developed 30 years ago for the Commodore Amiga 500. He has recently revived it using AI tools and a JavaScript emulator, meaning it can now be played in a web browser.
"Breed 96" is a blend of space simulation, strategy and resource management. It was originally written in AMOS and distributed via floppy disk supplements in computer magazines such as Amiga Format. A letter from a former player motivated the developer to relaunch the project after 30 years: as the original source code and hardware had been lost over the decades, the developer now uses the Scripted Amiga Emulator to run the original binary files in a modern browser environment.
