Replica of the A2000 Revision 4 power supply unit
As Andrea Mazzai writes, he had come into possession of an Amiga 2000 Rev. 4 with a faulty power supply. As he could not find any documentation online, and was also aware of his limited knowledge of analogue electronics, he decided to use this as an opportunity to analyse the power supply and learn something in the process.
To reconstruct the circuit diagram, he took a backlit photograph of the printed circuit board with the components still mounted on it and then, with a great deal of patience, traced the traces in Photoshop. He then recreated the entire project in KiCad. The transformer was reverse-engineered using a digital multimeter to check continuity between the pins and determine which ones were connected to each other, followed by inductance measurements using an LCR meter at a test frequency of 10 kHz.
There is one more component that he cannot identify: it is R23, positioned right below the transformer in the schematic. The GitHub repository contains the KiCad and PDF schematic, a PDF helpful drawing and images. (dr)
