Amiga Games That Weren't: Raiden
Games That Weren't has added an Amiga version of the vertical shooter Raiden to its archive. The arcade hit, released in 1990 by Seibu Kaihatsu and ported to numerous platforms, was also in development by Imagitec Design for AGA Amigas and the Atari Falcon in the mid-1990s. However, neither of these ports ever made it to market.
According to reports, the Amiga version was even completed and was reviewed in several magazines at the time; however, changing market conditions ultimately led to the project being shelved. A single-level demo had been circulating for some time, and it has now been officially added to the archive. There are indications that developer Adrian Hirst may still have the complete version on DAT tapes. So the community can still hold out a glimmer of hope for a future release. (nba)
