`07.Dec.1999` Heise [Newsticker]	Sun announces Java 2 for Linux "Sun has just announced they will offer an own Linux version of the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE). So far, official statements said that Sun supports the Blackdown Porting Team in its efforts in a port to the free operating system. The driving force behind this change of mind is probably the company Inprise, which plans to add the J2SE to their JBuilder announced for the beginning of the next year, and added manpower to the port. (NASDAQ: TDFX) today announced that the company is Open Sourcing its Glide® application programming interface (API) and releasing hardware specifications for all its currently shipping 3D hardware accelerators. By Open Sourcing Glide and releasing the specifications, 3dfx is enabling software developers and the Open Source community to better develop, support, and maintain drivers for 3dfx products across a variety of delivery platforms. But the programmer has changed, Here is a little cut from the doc: The entire XVS software package is written and copyright © 1997-99 by Georg Hörmann. Additional changes and updates during December 1999 and onwards are copyright © 1999 Alex van Niel. Alex van Niel has the permission from Georg Hörmann to update the XVS package and make any adjustments Alex van Niel thinks are necessary. `06.Dec.1999` Sebastian Hübner in ANF	Phase5: G4 boards in first quarter 2000, with AGP-slot Sebastian Hübner writes: Today I got mail from Phase5: The G4 boards will be coming in first quarter 2000, and with an AGP slot on-board. The CyberVisionNG will therefore be based on NVidia, 3Dfx or ATI chips. Due to the standard slot, it will be possible to offer LinuxPPC as an alternative to QNX Neutrino OS. The delay is due to the unavailability of the Motorola MPC107 controller chip and delivery schedules for G4/400 MHz not being met (see also news of October 26th, 1999).
