First reports and photos from the OS4 event in Essen/Germany (update 2)
In the forum of Amigaworld.net gives Amon_Re a first overview about the OS4 event that took place today in Essen.

According to his words were almost a dozen of AmigaOne computers shown with AmigaOS 4.0 coming in the ATX as well as in the mini ITX form.

Participants had been among others:
  • Petro Tyschtschenko (said to be consultant for Gericom)
  • Hans-Jörg and Thomas Frieden, Timothy De Groote, Steffen Häuser (Hyperion)
  • Jens Schönfeld (Individual Computers)
  • Rakesh and Sharwin Raghoebardayal (Coyote Flux)
  • Alan Redhouse (Eyetech)
  • Guido Does (Vesalia)
  • Ron van Herk (Computer City)
  • Sebastian Brylka (Amiga Insider)
  • Alexander Lohrmann (68k emulation)
  • "Chip" (Moovid)
  • Volker Mohr
Alan Redhouse held a speech about his aims with the MicroA1 and why China were interested in devices with little power consumption. In addition there would be a Remote Windows Client for AmigaOS 4.0. After the speech questions could be asked but nothing of interest had been said.

Regarding the MicroA1 Alan Redhouse had said that its later sales version wouldn't be finished yet. In principal, it is planned as a shrinked form with expansion slot similar the one for the main processor to have a basis to build on depending on the specific needs.

Hans-Jörg and Thomas Frieden held no speech but answered questions regarding the availability of AmigaOS 4.0 with "when it's ready".

Software shown were ArtEffect 4, FreeSpace and AudioEvolution as well as some ports, especially emulators.

Elbox (ANF)

Elbox: Cocolino Mouse Interface available
Elbox Computer is pleased to announce release of the Cocolino Mouse Interface. Cocolino is a PS/2 mouse interface, with the unique capability of supporting two scroll wheels and 3rd, 4th and 5th buttons available in many PS/2 mice nowadays. The Cocolino interface simply plugs into the Amiga's mouse port.

Features:
  • The Cocolino PS/2 Mouse Interface is a microprocessor-based adapter for attaching PS/2 mice, trackballs, glidepoints and radio-controlled mice from the world of PC computers.
  • Cocolino works with all models of Amiga computers. It simply plugs into the Amiga's mouse port.
  • The Cocolino PS/2 Mouse Interface is a full 'plug and play' device. No software is required for standard use. The enclosed software (cocolino.driver) allows using two wheels and 3rd, 4th and 5th buttons available in many PS/2 mice and trackballs.
  • The Cocolino interface starts working simultaneous with the computer's start so mice can be used in the early-startup-menu (unlike the mice connected through the serial port).
  • Cocolino uses linear movement interpolation, which makes mouse movements perfectly smooth with any screen frame rates.
The complete press release by Elbox can be found under the title link. (snx)

Merregnon Team

Merregnon 2 - project finished!
After more than three years of development, the Merregnon 2 project is finished! The album is due to be released on 2004/05/24 in Germany.

You can pre-order your CD at shops like Amazon.de, Buch.de or Rollenspiele-shop right away, or purchase your CD at your local shop. If you live outside of Germany please refer to Music by Design Ltd. and synSoniq Records. It has been quite a journey for us, and I want to thank all of the people who are interested in our CD and have supported us with kind and helpful feedback throughout its development. We are very proud of what we have achieved, combining live orchestra music, performed by members of the Prague Symphony and the New York Philharmonic; Nine composers from all over the world who provided us with their own fantastic music, 80 minutes of the finest pieces; and six artists who painted a beautiful 28 pages booklet, telling the story of Merregnon. The work has been intense for everybody. The production required a lot of skill and ambition. (sn)
