Game Construction Kit: Scorpion Engine
The "Scorpion Engine" developed by Erik 'earok' Hogan is supposed to simplify developing games, which run on an A500 with a screen refresh rate of 50 Hz. If a game requires more power then the rate can be set to 25 Hz. The editor runs under Windows. Graphics are imported as PNG files, for creating levels the editor Tiled is used. For sounds, music and animations the Amiga formats (mod, 8svx, anim5) are used.

For managing the game logic (dialogues, items, branches) a script language is used (a subset of Ink), which is compiled into bytecode and executed by a virtual machine. The Scorpion Engine can also import Backbone projects. The developer presents a screenshot of a Scorpion version of the commercial Backbone game "Tales of Gorluth 3".

Status updates and videos about the project you can find on the official website on Facebook. The editor itself is proprietary but some of the test games which have been already released are open source. Therefore all downloads including the editor are offered on Github. Hogan asks you to use that bugtracker for reporting bugs. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Free motherboard design: Rämixx500 reproduces Amiga 500+
Thanks to open source projects the mainboards of the A1200, A3000 and of the A4000 can be produced by everyone having corresponding skills and tools. Thanks to "Rämixx500" now it is also possible to reproduce an A500+, Revision 8A.1. Only two functional changes are mentioned: Instead of a battery which is soldered a fastener for button cells is used. Secondly, both audio channels are automatically mixed if only one channel is connected to an audio device. (cg) (Translation: dr)

MorphOS: SmartClipboard screenbar plugin 1.0
With Thomas Igracki's SmartClipboard for MorphOS "you are able to defineactions if you copy something to the clipboard".

The author furthermore wrote: "Its usefull, if you f.e. read a documentation of a newly downloaded program in MultiView etc. Imagine there are links to a website, a youtube video or the email addressof the author in this documentation.

Previously you had to mark the text with the link, copy it to theclipboard, then open the appropriate program and paste the text there."

MorphOS: Uptime creenbar plugin 1.3
"Uptime is a Screenbar-Plugin for MorphOS. It displays the Systems Uptime in the screen title. Optionally it can display the current uptime vs the uptime record in a gauge."

Changes in version 1.3:
  • Added a button to prefs to reset the uptime record.
  • The system boot time is now displayed in the bubble that appears when clicked.
  • Also stores date and time the uptime record was achieved on and displays it in the bubble.
  • Added help bubbles to all prefs gadgets.
  • Changed the way the width of the gauge is calculated. Before it was dependant on the gauge image used, now the base width (100%) is calculated according to the width of the text.
  • It's now possible to disable the gauge image and simply draw the gauge by a configurable colour.

MorphOS: Screenshot screenbar plugin 1.2
Screenshot.sbar "can grab single Windows, multiple Windows, freely selectable rectangle areas, even areas simply drawn with the mouse and much more and save them in multiple image formats while residing patiently in your screens titlebar".

New in version 1.2:
  • Fixed a nasty bug that made the task responsible for grabbing ("Snapper.n") crash on saving an image when two or more screens were open and one got closed.
  • The iris effect didn't fill the whole screen when it came close to screen borders. Fixed.
  • Mouse pointer opacity wasn't calculated at all. Fixed.
  • TestPaint: Added another mode to arrows that also draws an arrow head at the start of the arrow, so the arrow points to two directions.
  • TestPaint: Optimized redraw of paint object.
  • TestPaint: Sped up symmetry tool calculations by a factor of three brazillion.
  • TestPaint: Repeat last draw op (the Recycle-Button) didn't really work. Fixed.
  • TestPaint: Fixed offset of the cursor when zoom window was open and the zoomed area became smaller than the window.
  • TestPaint: The window can be sized larger than the actual image now.
