Demoscene registered as inventory of intangible cultural heritage in Germany Last Friday, the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs added 20 new entries to the list of "Intangible Cultural Heritage", including the demoscene. The scene is thus automatically also part of UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage. What advantages this could have in practice is discussed by the news service "Tarnkappe" in a conversation with Tobias Kopka, one of the organisers of the demo party "Evoke", among others (in German). Hollywood 9: Sugarcane released Press release: After more than 2 years of development, Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are proud to announce the immediate availability of Hollywood 9: Sugarcane. Hollywood is a programming language that can be used to create a wide variety of programs, ranging from games and GUI-based applications for desktop systems to mobile apps for Android and iOS. Hollywood's special feature is its support for retro platforms (e.g. AmigaOS, MorphOS, AROS) and modern operating systems (e.g. Windows, macOS, Linux) alike. It comes with a library of almost 1000 commands and its functionality can be extended further through over 30 plugins which are available for free download. Version 9.0 is a massive update, the biggest since 6.0, and comes with many new features. Here is a non-exhaustive list of what's new in Hollywood 9.0:
Hollywood is the ultimate bridge between all the different AmigaOS compatible platforms and the other three modern desktop systems, Windows, macOS, and Linux! Additionally, Hollywood also supports the Android and iOS platforms. A truly unique feature is the ability to cross-compile native executables for many different platforms including: AmigaOS3, AmigaOS4, WarpOS, MorphOS, AROS (x86), Windows (x86, x64), macOS (x86, x64, ppc), Linux (x86, x64, ppc, arm), and Android/iOS with optionally available add-ons. You don't even have to own these platforms in order to compile executables for them. It's enough to run Hollywood on one of the supported platforms and then compile programs for all the others! Only Hollywood makes it possible. If you want to learn more about Hollywood, please visit the official Hollywood portal under the title link which also has a forum for all questions concerning Hollywood. Lawsuit: separate motions by Hyperion and Amiga for a summary judgment (Update) While a joint motion from Cloanto and Hyperion to the court in January suggested that a settlement was imminent and only (quote) "ancillary documents" were left to be dealt with, both parties now submitted individual motions for a summary judgment indicating that settlement talks failed again. The motion from Amiga Inc., Itec and Amino (formerly known as AmigaInc., Washington) asks for a partial summary judgment on two of their original complaints, both dealing with trademarks: The judge is asked to issue an order declaring that Hyperion is not the rightful owner of any of the Amiga related trademarks it registered or applied for in the last few years. The motion also lists all of the trademarks in question:
Hyperion's motion is for a complete summary judgment on all of the issues raised its opponents. The document discusses every single cause of action listed and argues why it should be dismissed. In conclusion, it requests that the judge issues a summary judgment (quote) "against all Plaintiffs on all counts". Update: (21.03.2021, 22:15, cg) We initially reported that one of the motions for summary judgement was submitted by Cloanto. Actually that particular motion was submitted by the other plaintiffs (Amiga Inc., Itec, Amino) without Cloanto. (cg) [News message: 21. Mar. 2021, 19:05] [Comments: 1 - 21. FreePascal: Docker container for Amiga development updated Marcus 'ALB42' Sackrow's Docker environment (amiga-news.de reported) for development of FreePascal applications for various Amiga systems has been updated and includes scripts now for compiling directly from the Docker, i.e. without VNC/Lazarus. The latter does only work for standard Free Pascal programs, though, not for LCL applications. Besides, the lazarus version has been updated to the latest version 2.0.12 as well. AMOS development: First public alpha of 'Amos Professional Unity' 'AMOS Professional Unity' written by Frédéric 'AmiDARK' Cordier is the second attempt of the author to add AGA support to the BASIC compiler AMOS Professional. According to the developer on amigaworld.net, he did achieve this goal by releasing AMOS Professional AGA, but at the expense of compatibility to older ardware and old data formats ("Banks"). And the author explained: "Due to requests to make Amos Professional handle SAGA graphics chipset, I had to restart things for a more flexible system. After 1 year of development with Amos Professional AGA, on Amos Professional source code I am now more "comfortable" with updating it and I fell more entrusted on what I can do (or not)."
