EntwicklerX (E-Mail)

Mini game: EntwicklerX released "Dodge These Balls"
Press release: We, the developers at EntwicklerX, have just released our first game for classic Amiga computers: Dodge These Balls. In this mini-game, you have to dodge the grey balls for as long as possible with a red ball. These balls increase in number from time to time, making the game more difficult and inevitably ending in a collision. The longer you last, the more points you get.

The mini-game is intended as a fun diversion and a way to compare high scores between games. A local high score list helps to compare points.

Why this game?

Dodge These Balls is a little mini-game for Amiga users that we hope you will enjoy. For us, it lays the foundation for development on classic Amigas. On the technical side, an early version of the game engine was used, which implements features such as blitter objects, collision, sound, loading and saving local high scores, and displaying and moving graphic objects.

On the graphics side, we first had to learn how to create pixel graphics and save them with the necessary palette so that they could be used in the game. The target was the Amiga ECS chipset with its limited palette compared to AGA. All graphics were created in Deluxe Paint 4, which was an additional challenge, but simply more fun.

Since we had to start from scratch from a technical and graphical point of view on the classic Amigas, Dodge These Balls may be a small mini-game for Amiga users, but for EntwicklerX it is a big step forward and paves the way for further developments for the Amiga.

In addition, we have launched a Patreon page to share early information about game development, with a focus on games for AmigaOS4 and classic Amigas. Development for the original Amiga computers will gradually progress from free mini-games to larger commercial products. The small games serve as a basis for larger projects and integrate new features that will be incorporated into the more extensive games. Every bit of support allows us to invest more time in the projects and drive them forward. (dr)

AmigaKit (E-Mail)

Emulator hardware: AmiBrowser announced for A1200NG and A600GS (update)
AmigaKit has announced its own web browser for its A600GS emulator platform and the ARM-based A1200NG motherboard, which would be available shortly (press release as PDF file).

"AmiBrowser" runs on AmigaKit's desktop AmiBench, which is based on the reimplementation of AmigaOS components, supplemented by AROS components. The browser supports HTML 5, has a MUI/Zune graphical user interface and is compiled for the 680x0 architecture - although rendering is done natively using the appropriate ARM libraries.

Update: (08.08.2025, 06:01, dr)

The YouTube channel "Proteque-CBN" shows a video of how an early version of the browser runs on the A600GS. (snx)

Cordoomceps: Doom on a PiStorm Amiga using Linux
Cordoomceps is an approach by Matthew Garrett to run the game Doom on an Amiga with PiStorm extension, not by emulating the AmigaOS hardware, but by having the actual image generation performed by Linux running natively on the ARM processor and simply passing the finished result to the Amiga.

His Doom port is based on Chocolate Doom, and he makes his source code available under the title link. He describes the project in detail in his blog as a graphically slightly flawed version of Doom that runs without sound and is displayed on an Amiga whose brain has been replaced by a parasitic Linux. Worth a read: More retrocomputing, less nostalgia
Swedish developer and blogger Carl Svensson has published a new article on datagubbe.se. In "More retrocomputing, less nostalgia", he takes a critical look at the concept of retro nostalgia. He questions the widespread assumption that old technology was inherently better or more honest, and argues for a more nuanced view of retro fascination and technological development.

Datagubbe regularly offers insightful and personal articles about the Amiga and related topics, which we have reported on several times. (nba)

Crowdfunding: The Amiga Cheat Codes book
Dan Nielsen is raising money on Kickstarter for the book "The Amiga Cheat Codes", which will be published as a PDF file, printed with ring binding and as a softcover paperback. According to the illustrations, the book promises an pleasant design with an image from each game and the actual cheat codes that make it easier to avoid an early "game over".

No exact number of the games included is given, but it aims to cover "hundreds" of games, from "Ace the Space Race to Zoom!, from 3D Pool to 4D Sports Diving" in alphabetical order. Nielsen mentions to have curated these cheats for decades and would now want to give them back to the Amiga community in an appropriate and preservative form. (snx)

At the title link, Grzegorz 'krashan' Kraszewski discusses the possibility of writing C++ programs for the Amiga with the GCC 2.95 compiler without using the standard library interface of the AmigaOS API.

This approach results in more compact (by about 50 kB) and, in some cases, faster programs that are better integrated into the system and can make more extensive use of AmigaOS-specific features. (snx)

Shoot'em Up: "Rex and the Galactic Plague" released
"Rex and the Galactic Plague" is a vertical scrolling shooter developed using the Scorpion Engine (video). After several demo versions, the full version has now been released.

According to the developer, the game's origins date back to 1993. It was the first game he ever created, and he had to familiarise himself with the Scorpion Engine, pixel art and animation creation. What originally started with four small levels grew over time to nine, with new enemies, bosses, dangers and weapons.

The current release requires an Amiga 1200 due to memory requirements, but a version for the Amiga 500 is also planned. (dr)

RTG driver: P96 3.6.0
Press release: The new version 3.6.0 of the Amiga-RTG system P96 contains new drivers for Matrox cards (thanks to Tim Schattkowski!), Radeon R200 cards by ATI, and the budget version of RageXL cards with 32-bit memory interface, which are available for an affordable price.

The driver for the RTG mode of Indivision ECS V4 now uses the blitter for practically every OS-based graphics function. The Blitter is a major upgrade to the feature set of Indivision ECS V4: In addition to it's main function "flicker fixer", there's now "graphics card", and it's performance can be compared to Z2 cards from the 1990s. Details about all bug fixes and improvements can be found in the article about P96 of your technical Wiki.

Due to continued database problems with this shop system, the new version of P96 will be delivered through eMail.

There will be no shipments during our summer holidays between August 4th and August 15th. Shipping on August 1st is only possible for a limited product range, as many products will already be in a different storage location. Orders that are placed during our holidays will be shipped starting August 18th, 2025. (cg)

vAmigaDOS: Web-based tool for analysing andediting ADF and HDF files
Dirk Hoffmann, author of the Amiga emulator vAmiga, explains: "vAmigaDOS is a new, web-based tool that allows you to analyse and edit ADF and HDF files. To do this, simply drag an ADF or HDF file into the browser window. A text-based shell will then open, offering several commands for analysis and editing. You can get an overview of the commands by pressing the TAB key twice. An online help window will appear, explaining all the commands.

If you want more information, e.g. about the file command, simply type file and press the TAB key twice again. The shell also supports autocompletion for file names, which makes navigation much easier. Under the hood, vAmiga provides all file system functions. The tool is currently at version 0.9.4, and I hope to get lots of beta testers."

This version is a pre-release version. Bug reports can be submitted on GitHub. (dr)

New puzzle game: Block Cannon has been published
Block Cannon is the title of the latest puzzle game for the Amiga, which developer TheoTheoderich has just released (video).

Block Cannon is all about using skillful joystick controls to place three or more blocks of the same color in a row so that they disappear and earn you points. The speed increases over time, and the goal is to score as many points as possible before the blocks reach the top of the screen.

The game runs on as little as 512 KB of Chip RAM and Kickstart 1.2 or higher, and offers a "Competition Mode" with three predefined start patterns (A, B, C) - ideal for competitions on multiple Amiga systems under identical conditions.

Block Cannon can be downloaded free of charge as an ADF for emulators or as an LHA for real Amiga systems. (nba)

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, the Vintage Computer Club (VCC), the Amiga Club Schleswig-Holstein (ACSH), and the Computer Club Klausdorf (CCK) invite you to the 42nd edition of Interface in Schwentinental near Kiel - a popular meeting place for fans of classic computers and console systems.

Flickerfixer/scandoubler: Indivision ECS V4 software 1.1 (beta), P96 driver
Individual Computers is providing a software update for the Indivision ECS V4 scandoubler/flickerfixer, which has been available since this month. Jens Schönfeld writes:

Config tool V1.1 (release candidate) contains the latest core with Framebuffer and 2D acceleration. The tool will also complain if it's opened on an RTG screen. If P96 has taken over, it really did, and also takes control of output frequencies. The software would compete for output modes and hardware resources in general, which can't be resolved in a meaningful way. The best solution is to launch the tool when it's on a native graphics mode.

Launch this tool and make a rescue disk first. Then choose "Flash Firmware" from the drop-down menu (press and hold the right mouse button and move the mouse to the "Firmware" text in the title bar of the screen). The screen will turn black and the monitor will lose sync during the update process, which takes around 15 seconds. Don't interrupt this process - let it run until the picture comes back. The new core will be active immediately, which you can verify on the core version displayed in the OSD

I have also added a tiny archive with the new P96 driver for Indivision ECS V4. Install by copying it to the libs:Picasso96/ drawer. This driver makes use of the blitter. Further, transfers from an A1200 accelerator on ACA500plus into the ECS V4 frame buffer are twice as fast if you have hardware ACA500plus HW ID $0B. This is shipped as standard with current cards, and we'll make a JTAG Updater available for all older versions of the ACA500plus (all the way back to units shipped in 2016!) in a few weeks.

Please report back if you find any errors - or if it just works for you. The P96 driver should work with older versions of P96 as well (back to V3.2.0), so in order to participate in thie beta test, you don't have to buy the latest version but use the one you've purchased between December 2020 and today. QEMU frontend for booting AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS: Kyvos V1.1.0
Just over a week ago, we reported on the cross-platform (Linux, macOS and Windows) QEMU front end "Kyvos" published by George Sokianos, which is designed to make it particularly easy for users to set up and start AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS with just a few clicks, without having to delve deep into the configuration.

With the update to version 1.1.0, it is now possible, among other things, to set up up to three different hard disk images in a virtual system via the "Media" tab. In addition, 26 pages have been added to the manual, including a brand new section on AmigaOS 4.1 FE and all the steps required to update it with the latest available software. (dr)

Action adventure: Amiga 40 update of Castlevania AGA
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Amiga, Dante Mende has released a major update to his port of Konami's NES action-adventure game "Castlevania" (video), which offers features such as better color use, AGA gradients, animated backdrops, calibrated jump physics, menu toggle for weapons release method and new music tracks by IM76 and DJ Metune.

And the author points out: "Since this is a fairly big update, it's expected that it may fail in different hardware configurations or produce unexpected results. Known issues: may play the wrong animation while on stairs, or get stuck, specially if you use up/down. Prefer to use left/right and treat stairs as if they are a terrain slope (which they are, internal engine-wise)." (dr)

Preview video: E-mail client "AMail" v0.0.5
At the end of May, we reported for the first time on Ryan 'bluewizard' Stapleton's project to write "AMail", a modern email client for AmigaOS 3.2 that supports IMAP and SMTP. In a new preview video, he explains that the secure connection via AmiSSL now works, which took him a lot of time.

He also describes what is not yet working – emails are not stored locally, and the ability to delete emails on the server still needs to be implemented – and which features he would like to add. He expects to release a pre-alpha version by the end of September. (dr)

Spillhistorie: Interview with Fredrik Liljegren zu Pinball Dreams (englisch)
The Norwegian games magazine Spillhistorie has published an interesting interview with Fredrik Liljegren, in which the co-founder of Digital Illusions (later DICE) talks in detail about the development of the Amiga classic Pinball Dreams. Liljegren takes a close look at the game's beginnings, from its origins in the demo scene to the technical concept and the selection of a publisher.

He describes how the team was able to faithfully simulate real pinball tables using an unusual design—vertically scrolling playing fields across multiple screens. The result: realistic ball physics, impressive graphics and sound design, and unexpected success with over 650,000 units sold in the first year. The game was developed entirely in the developers' spare time, which explains the long development time of over four years. He also talks about early strategies against piracy, such as special crack detectors that introduced variable ball physics or score influences for copied versions.

The interview does not only offer historical insights, but also personal memories and a behind-the-scenes perspective. (nba)

AROSWorld (Forum)

AROS: Update on the further development of the 64-bit operating system
Since almost two years Krzysztof 'deadwood' Śmiechowicz is reporting on his AROS-related projects in the AROSWorld forum at the title link. In his latest article, he writes about the current status in the three areas of browser/software/hardware and gives an outlook on the goal of advancing the 64-bit version of the free operating system.

On the browser front, it would be important to be able to use contemporary web services - also in order to be able to compensate for missing software with corresponding online versions. With the beta version of Odyssey 3.0, the developers now have a browser with the same Webkit engine as Wayfarer 3.0 (its current version is 10.3, though). This allows to use YouTube, Google Docs, Discord and many other web services that were not available on AROS a year ago. He has thus achieved his first functionality goal.

With regard to other software, missing functionality would have to be supplemented either by re-compiling or emulation - whereby the aim is not to get every 32-bit program running, but at least one from each category of all areas to be covered. So far, 26 software packages would have been adapted for 64-bit by supporters.

In terms of hardware, the problem is that 64-bit systems do not yet support all components that can be used under AROS/32-bit - for example NVidia graphics cards. The aim here would be to restore that support and hopefully add newer, easily available second hand hardware. With AROS Portable, which uses virtualization technology to run AROS on modern PCs from a USB stick, there would be a significant interim solution now until it can run natively on such systems.

In the long term, the aim would be to create and maintain two lines of development: For those who want to use AROS natively, as explained above, a selection of the existing 32-bit software must be adapted and made to run on selected 64-bit computer configurations in order to serve as a basis for enabling 64-bit distributions that outperform their previous 32-bit counterparts from the user's point of view.

For friends of the AxRuntime path, a Linux-native desktop would be to be created from which a selection of AROS ABIv0 programs (32-bit) and AROS ABIv1 programs (64-bit) as well as programs newly compiled for AxRuntime (64-bit) can be used. Existing distributions could then be re-created using Linux as a base without the user having to accept any loss of functionality compared to the respective 32-bit version. (snx)

Graphic Designer 0.1e (pre-alpha demo)
Graphic Designer is neither a painting program nor a desktop publishing or presentation application, but uses individual approaches from these by enabling the design of images by combining elements in currently up to twelve layers, which can then be saved as an IFF image file (or updatable project).

These permanently freely placeable elements can be images, brushes, text or image overlays and brush stamps. However, all image elements must already use the same palette; an automatic adjustment is not planned. (snx)

Motorola68k emulation: Emu68 V1.0.5.1
Michal Schulz has released an update to his Motorola68K emulation Emu68 for the ARM architecture, focusing on the PiStorm and PiStorm32lite (amiga-news.de reported). Version 1.0.5.1 offers two important changes, which Michal Schulz writes about:

1. New Firmware for PiStorm32Lite

Claude Schwarz has prepared updated firmware for PiStorm32Lite devices, which should work much better in combination with Mediator boards. It has been extensively tested on the hardware we have available and appears to function properly.

2. Improvements Toward Better Networking

As many of you know, the current wifipi driver is functional but far from ideal. It lacks country-specific radio settings, limiting channel availability, and only AES WPA-2 works reliably. There are also occasional lock-ups during large data transfers.
For a while, I've been saying we need more developers working on hardware drivers - and it's finally happening! A developer from Poland has started working on an Ethernet driver for Pi4/CM4 models, and he's already made excellent progress. Version 1.1 of his emu68-genet driver is now available on GitHub.

His driver required a small change in Emu68. He submitted a pull request a while ago, and I've now updated it to make it more broadly compatible. The original patch worked great but conflicted slightly with Pi3 models. Since the Pi3 uses an Ethernet adapter integrated with its onboard USB hub, the Genet driver shouldn't even attempt to run there.

I've also applied a similar adjustment for the classic PiStorm (used in A500 and A2000). That said, there's no guarantee it will work, as Pi4 or CM4 compatibility with classic PiStorms varies. If it works for you - consider yourself lucky! (dr)

User interface for BlueSCSI on Amiga: BlueSCSIUI V1.0
In early 2024, Robert Smith used his DaynaPORT driver to create a SANA II driver for the Amiga based on Lukas F. Hartmann's MNT ZZ9000 network driver and using the BlueScsi v2 WIFI version to enable the Amiga to access the Internet (video, amiga-news.de reported).

Now, with version 1.0 of BlueSCSIUI, he has released a user interface for BlueSCSI for AmigaOS 2.0 and higher that supports configuration and diagnosis of the DynaPORT driver. (dr)

Interview: Markus Tillmann about the Warhol connection and amiga40-highlights
Organizer Markus Tillmann talks to amiga-news.de about the upcoming amiga40 event in October and why the Amiga still has such a vibrant community 40 years after its launch. He also reveals what visitors can expect at the next event, including previously undisclosed guests of honor. The interview was conducted by Nico Barbat.

Amiga-News (AN): Markus, 2025 is a double anniversary: the Amiga turns 40 and your event series celebrates its 10th anniversary. You probably never planned a career as an event organizer. How did you go from studying business administration to organizing Germany's biggest Amiga event?

Markus Tillmann (MT): The idea wasn't mine or our team's. In 2015, there were already a few celebrations planned for the 30th anniversary of the Amiga. The pioneers were the guys from the Netherlands, who had already got a lot of things off the ground. At the same time, there were also events in America and England. We were actually the last ones to join in.

In the A1K forum, several users expressed their desire for an anniversary event in Germany. That was the catalyst. At the time, I was completing my degree in business administration, and the idea arose that we could take on the planning and organization of the event as our project work - as our final thesis for the degree.

AN: The success of your events has grown steadily over the years. How do you reflect on this development - does it still surprise you?

MT: The fact that the visitor count has continued to rise over the years was not necessarily a given, considering that Commodore has been insolvent for a few years now. But the whole thing is simply kept alive and running by the fans and the community. When we planned amiga30, we didn't know: would 100, 200, 300 people come? It was all totally uncertain. Then we had a great turnout, and that has continued to increase over the years. With the current location, we have the capacity to actually let in up to 1,100 visitors a day, and we are currently well on our way to achieving that.

AN: So there are tickets available again for last-minute bookers?

MT: Yes, tickets are available again (purchaseable at www.amigaevent.de/ticket, editor's note). Due to the change of location, we were able to offer 100 additional tickets. Of those, 60 are already gone, but there are still tickets available for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

AN: What's awaiting everyone who already has a ticket or can still get one? What program highlights can you already reveal?

MT: We try to incorporate something new at every event. This year, we set up a repair corner for the first time - I'm very excited to see how visitors will respond. The idea has been around for a while, but we also want to encourage people outside the die-hard community to get their Amiga out of the basement or attic. Maybe there are people who haven't turned on their Amiga in 20 years and don't even know if it still works. We offer a place for them to come: "Just bring your computer, have it checked out, and find out what needs to be done."

Next, then, the SetPatch party enters its second round: On Friday evening, we'll be celebrating in Gladbach's old town. The FastLoaders from Norway will once again be headlining alongside other musical acts. From a financial point of view, the party is pretty crazy, but we wanted to pull out all the stops for the 40th event.

Even more, there will be an exhibition for the first time, thanks to Petro Tyschtschenko and Mario Schweder. We will set up something fancy and present a few interesting Amigas.

AN: Such an exhibition has surely only been made possible by the change of location. What new opportunities does this open up?

MT: We were extremely satisfied with the Kunstwerk venue, which was a cool location. In comparison, the Red Box or NEW Box seems rather unspectacular, but we simply have more space - that's a big plus.

We are now able to arrange everything on one level, spread across two rooms: the foyer is used for the user tables, the exhibition, and the stage with the stage program. Then we hold a hall where all the exhibitors will be. We also have a fairly large backstage area. This takes the pressure and cramped feeling off us, as we now have a room where we can conduct interviews in peace, for example.

The stage is comparatively modern. We have a projector available - these are little things we weren't provided in the Kunstwerk.

This year, there will also be several entrance gates for exhibitors to unload their vehicles, which will make things more relaxed. And since the hall is located near the stadium, we have over 4,000 parking spaces available.

I am very excited about the new location myself and hope that it will have a positive impact on exhibitors and visitors alike, creating an even better trade fair atmosphere.

AN: You mentioned the location, the technology, and logistical issues. How big is the organizational team that has to tackle these challenges?

MT: Thorsten and I are the core team. We have lots and lots of helpers who take care of various projects - Paul Kitching does a lot of the graphics, and many people from the community offer their help. It's often just a matter of finding the time to organize everything alongside their normal jobs and other private commitments. We usually start about a year in advance, but you need that time. It's always a huge effort to get commitments, for example. Sometimes it all depends on a single response that is needed to finish a poster.

This year was also a bit of a financial challenge because everything is becoming more expensive and the change of location has increased costs. That caused us a lot of headaches for a long time, but things are easing up now because we've been able to sell a lot of tickets. We've had a really positive response, which is very motivating.

AN: This huge response is sure to motivate the guests of honor as well - seeing how enthusiastic the community still is. Which prominent guests can you already announce for amiga40?

MT: AmigaBill will open the event. Petro Tyschtschenko will show parts of the collection of the former Commodore Museum of the Streiff & Helmold company. Amiga developer Dave Haynie will be there again, for the sixth time. Commodore legends RJ Mical and Ron Nicolson have also confirmed their attendance, as have musician Chris Hülsbeck and journalist Hans Ippisch. Games graphic designer Simon Butler will be traveling from England, as will David Pleasance and Colin Proudfoot, who will talk about their Commodore rescue plan after the company went bankrupt in the mid-1990s.

A special guest I am particularly looking forward to seeing, also because it will be his first time here, is Peter Keshishian. He was team leader for the Amiga department at Commodore back then. He lives in America, but happens to be in Germany at the same time - which is a stroke of luck for us.

And then there's Jeff Bruette. His story is truly remarkable: he was the one who showed Andy Warhol how to use the painting program at the legendary Amiga presentation in New York in 1985. Until recently, he still owned the original diskette containing Warhol's digital artwork, which was then auctioned off for US$ 26 million. He will be talking to us about these historic moments.

AN: That's a guest list that's sure to stir up a lot of positive nostalgia. When you cast your eyes to the future, where do you see the Amiga and its community in the next ten years?

MT: I just hope that developments continue in all areas and that people don't lose motivation. We want to contribute to this with the event. I hope that the various companies and rights holders will finally communicate in a solution-oriented manner and understand that users are pretty annoyed by these endless disputes.

At Amiga 40, we will try to bring some parties together around one table and start a dialogue. The most important thing is to keep motivation high within the community and to demonstrate that there are enthusiastic people who want to continue actively developing and working creatively for the Amiga.

In recent years, it has always been the community and its self-driven developments that have kept the Amiga system alive. This valuable work must not be jeopardized by endless legal battles.

AN: Markus, thank you very much for talking to us, and good luck with amiga40! (nba)

New Commodore owners with new website and first products (update)
Two weeks ago, Youtuber Christian 'Perifractic' Simpson announced that an unnamed group of investors had taken over Commodore and that he would be the new CEO. Today, the "new" Commdore is advertising its first product in a short video: The "C64 Ultimate", available in three different editions, combines a breadbox case - presumably from RetroFuzion - with the FPGA-based C64 replica Ultimate 64 Elite-II and an unknown USB keyboard with a C64 look. The devices should be available from October or November, but interested parties can already order and pay for the devices now - which are limited to 10,000 or 6400 units, depending on the version.

A FAQ on the new website is intended to clarify some open questions, while the team section gives an overview over the people involved or working as consultants.

Update: (13.07.2025, 9:45, cg)

In the Free Edition of the new "Compute's Gazette", a very euphoric summary of the Commodore takeover, obviously written in close co-operation with Simpson, mentions a purchase price of USD 2.16 million. (cg)

Preview video: M.I.L.V. - Danmaku #9 (bullet hell shooter)
"M.I.L.V." ("Missile Intercepting Lethal Vehicle") is the current name of the bullet hell shooter, which originally had the working titles "Hyperborea" and "Danmaku" and is being developed by Daniel 'Daytona675x' Müßener (code), Holger Crome (graphics) and Roland 'Triace' Voss (music). The ninth preview video is intended to illustrate the current status; according to Müßener, the following changes have been made since the last version:
  • as promised, an improved hitbox indicator.
  • new self-made sound effects.
  • power-ups (weapon+, bomb+, life+ and the typical MP item).
  • continues.
  • 6 highscore tables, one for each difficulty level and 1p/2p.
  • more bullet- and pattern-types.
  • in-game messages. Currently used for the typical WARNING before the boss, but also for the level-end bonus score adding as the system allows for placeholders and procedural text adjustments on the fly.
  • pixel perfect occlusion. Every background tile can have a mask to be used for occlusion effects on enemies. E.g. ground enemies can appear from behind rocks or move below bridges or hide below trees, stuff like that. This works with all types of enemies.
  • of course background changes like explosion craters take such occlusion masks into account too.
  • also note that fully occluded enemies cannot be shot and won't shoot. Finally some good usage for the blitter's zero flag :)
  • background brightness can be adjusted in the main-menu. Well, we all get older and this may certainly help some people to easier distinguish bullets and enemies from the background.
  • in the rare case of a frame-drop, the game will now lock to 25Hz for about a second to avoid micro-stuttering.
  • replaced some enemy placeholders (no pumpkins from the Halloween video anymore). Especially sliced and added a mod of the famous Dodonpachi tank boss,
  • mostly to give Crome some hints on how to partition his own bosses.
  • satellite mode. For now this is just available through the hidden cheat menu, I don't know if I'm going to make this an official game mode. Anyway, if activated the 2nd player ship will follow the 1st player ship and shoot with the other gun. I added this for nice video recording if my daughter is not available for a 2P session :)
  • lots of other stuff (e.g. many fixes / optimizations, fresh scoring system, improved tool-chain, ship movement speeds adjusted to be more DDP-alike, particles on player death, etc. etc.)
  • Crome prepared backgrounds for three levels so far. Enemies come last because I first prepare enemy patterns and swarms so that he knows the max dimensions before drawing...
  • a new name: "Missile Intercepting Lethal Vehicle" - or M.I.L.V. SWIV is my favorite Amiga shmup and this is another nod to those guys.

Emu68: Imager Tool 1.0.5.2 for Windows
The "Imager Tool" enables PiStorm users to prepare an SD card with the Motorola68K emulation Emu68 and a preconfigured AmigaOS 3 installation. Changes since our last news item:
  • 1.0.5.2: Improved the Online script to better handle where connections do not work. Where connections have failed but WirelessManager remains connected, WirelessManager is closed so the log can be accessed on the Amiga (previously the log was inaccessible as WirelessManager locks the file). The logs for WirelessManager, AddInterface from Roadshow and sntp are all concatenated and written to RAM:WirelessLogs.Txt so the user can see all the information in one place for troubleshooting
  • 1.0.5.1: Added check for encrypted Cloanto Kickstart ROMs so the user is alerted if they have chosen this ROM since it will not work on PiStorm without being decrypted

Amiga Kit (E-Mail)

Emulator hardware: Update 46.1.1151 for A1200NG and A600GS
Another software update has been released for AmigaKit's A600GS emulator platform and the ARM-based A1200NG motherboard. It is available for download to registered AmiSphere customers and includes the following changes:
  • Upgrade PlayVideo to 46.7 Avoids using NewMinList() as this is version 50 or above only. Now put up information requester if start without avcodec backend present.
  • Integrate latest builds of PeterKs icon.library for enhanced PNG datatype loading and other bugs fixes.
  • Zune: fix up behaviour of MUIV_Window_Width_MinMax()
  • Zune: Fix incorrect parsing of underscores in escape sequences resulting in the incorrect shortcut key in SimpleButtons and else where.
  • Zune: Fix duplicate GoActive methods sent to already active objects
  • Upgrade to Assign 46.11
  • Update to UnArchiver 46.4 29/06/2025
  • Update filesysbox.library to 54.7
  • Update smbfs handler to 53.10
  • Checking of license keys for add-on functionality like the CPU Boost product now takes place immediately after the first login after registration, so no longer requires autologin to be enabled.
Amigakit reccomends to disable the auto install of avcodec on startup: most users seem to upgrade with ease, but a few are having issues resulting in an update loop. To install avcodec suite manually, go to the advanced update section and choose it from the list. (cg)
