XML-Editor NtuiCreator 1.1
Using Marco 'Blackbird' Möring's NtuiCreator you can edit XML-files. First of all he has written the tool for himself to get a closer look at NTUI, which is a GUI-Toolkit for AmiBlitz³. Under the title link, the author has made available the programm to the public. In version 1.1 a search function was added.

Jump'n Run: Final version of "Zerosphere"
In "Zerosphere" (Youtube video) the surrounding area of the player is highly blurred. Only if the player "blinks" by pushing the fire button of the joystick, it is possible to see the real dimension.
In August a pre-version was released. Now at the demo party "Under Construction", the final version of the game has been released which according to the author provides "lot of bug fixing and new features".

AmigaOS 4: Arcade emulator FinalBurn Alpha 0.2.97.37 R1
FinalBurn Alpha is an arcade emulator supporting different hardware, like e.g. Sega Master System and MegaDrive, Colecovision, Capcom CS-1/2/3 and Neo Geo.
The update mainly fixes bugs but also provides improvements of some emulated systems as well as a better sound output for certain games (please have a look at the tutorial). Additionally by pressing the F9-key you can now save screenshots in the preview directory.

Nicolas 'Henes' Sallin and Harry 'Piru' Sintonen have released an update of their AmIRC version (screenshot). In version 3.6.2 two minor bugs have been fixed:

Workbench distribution: Portable AmiKit MK2 (8.5.1) available for download
On the occasion of der 30th anniversary party in Neuss, version 8.5.1 of the Workbench distribution AmiKit was released - at first on USB-sticks (amiga-news.de reported).
Now the latest version can be downloaded for a sum which you can choose. Then you can boot the Workbench from your own USB-stick on x86-computers (except Macs). In October the new feature "Rabbit Hole" was added which makes it possible to launch Linux programms from the Amiga environment. AmiKit completely runs out of the RAM, which let the host system unchanged.

SimpleMail 0.42
By tradition at Christmas the new version 0.42 of the eMail programm SimpleMail for AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS has been released. Additional to bug fixes, mainyl under MorphOS the support of TLS and STARTTLS was added.
Version 0.42 comes with following changes:
- Updated OpenSSL version to 1.0.1q
- TLS support for SMTP servers (SMTPS, port 465)
- STARTTLS support for IMAP4 servers
- Ability to check account settings within the account configuration
- Revised error window
- Serveral MorphOS specific fixes (thanks to henes)
- DEBUGMODULES command line options supports now '?' as value to print all modules that have logging output (AmigaOS 4.1 for now)
- Various bug fixes and internal improvements to simplify next development steps

Retro-Gaming: WHDLoad 18.2 now Freeware
Using WHDLoad you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. Version 18.2 now is Freeware. It is no longer required or possible to register the programm:
- the WHDLoad install script speaks german now
- some small fixes in the Autodoc file (Psygore)
- small fix in the supplied ITD program to avoid problems while detecting the destination device
- RoadShow added to the example Startup/Cleanup scripts
- dumping of loaded files via resload_DiskLoad was broken
- due to small internal buffer the argument parsing when started from the CLI did not detect a bad argument (Psygore)
- the blitter wait check (ChkBlitWait/S) now resets the internal run flag also at word reads to dmaconr on the 68030, previously only bytes did that (StingRay)
- WHDLoad no longer requests a keyfile and it is no longer possible to register WHDLoad, if you have a keyfile it is still loaded/checked and your name will be displayed in the splash window, Thanks to all registered users!

Tales of Gorluth I can be downloaded for free
The action adventure game "Tales of Gorluth" which was honoured with the Amiga Games Award 2014 and developed by Patrick Nevian and Javier Alcani using Backbone, can be downloaded for free. Originally the game was distributed on CD and some residual copies can be still purchased at Alinea and Amedia.
In July the sequel was announced which is supposed to be released in June 2016. If you want to support the project by preordering the game, you get pre-versions of the game.

Accelerator board: Vampire II for Amiga 600 can be preordered
The Vampire is a FPGA-based accelerator board for the Amiga 600 (amiga-news.de reported). Now version II can be preordered.
It is probably available from New Year's Eve on and is supposed to be faster as a 68060-processor with 80 MHz. Due to the added features as 128 MB, HDMI-port and integrated SD-card, it will cost 150 Euro.

Amiga-Emulator: WinUAE 3.2.2
For the Amiga emulator WinUAE another update to version 3.2 is available, which mainly fixes bugs.
Changes in WinUAE 3.2.2:
- 3.2.0 bugs fixed:
- JIT FPU 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility fixes
- Interlace mode blank screen in some configurations
- Slirp network mode high CPU usage
- Some programs that use AGA subpixel scrolling had horizontal jittering
- Per-monitor high DPI update still caused repeated GUI window closing/opening
- Other bug fixes:
- Game controllers suddenly stopped working. Most likely only happened under Windows 10 and only in some setups
- MIDI out devices missing (x64 only)
- Serial port transmit buffer was not always flushed
- 68020+ BFFFO undocumented offset calculation fixed
- Updates:
- AVIOutput in capture before filtering mode: width is now always divisible by 16 pixels and height is always even for best codec compatibility
- Useless, very basic and invisible touch screen mouse and joystick overlay
- Load config with joystick that is not connected, fall back to previously loaded (default.uae) setting instead of always falling back to keyboard layout A
- Out of bounds RTG coordinates are now clipped to valid region instead of rejecting whole operation

MorphOS: MagicWebP 2.0 beta
Carsten Siegner's MagicWebp is a MorphOS programm for viewing WebP-pictures. Please note, that the available beta version 2.0 still includes bugs , e.g. in entries of the Debug-Log of MorphOS.

Ralph Schmidt: Amiga Forever contains unlicensed copies of the Cyberstorm ROMs
The emulator distribution Amiga Forever 2016, released in November, contains images of the CyberstormPPC ROMs to simplify the installation of AmigaOS 4 for the end user. As this fact was not mentioned in the official press releases, it only became known when the download edition of OS4 Classic was discussed on amiga-news.de. During said discussion Ralph Schmidt, author of the ROMs in question, issued a statement (German) regarding the legal status of his work included with Amiga Forever.
In both his comment and a mail exchange with amiga-news.de staff, Schmidt states that Cloanto does not have a licence to distribute complete ROMs. He points out that official Flash updates are still legally available from Aminet amongst other places. When approached by us, Michael Battilana from Cloanto rejected Schmidt's claim and stressed repeatedly that he's still convinced he owns a valid licence for distributing the files.
Cloanto provided amiga-news.de staff with excerpts from the mail exchange between Battilana and Schmidt from 2014. A short look at the statements from both parties in these mails suggests that a simple misunderstanding is the cause of the problem, but neither party was interested in discussing details.
Ralph Schmidt explains that he will not take any legal steps, since that "wouldn't make any sense". If and how Cloanto will react to this situation is currently not known to us. (cg)

Amiga Forever: Alleged SFS problem turned out to be user error
In our reports about version 2016 of the emulation package Amiga Forever a problem was mentioned when using the Smart File System that had been reported by some users on the forums and was also observed in the tests for amiga-news.de.
Thanks to the extensive support of Cloanto, trying to solve the alleged problem, it turned out once more that the real error quite often is located between keyboard and chair. In addition to the installation guides for the emulator, one must not forget to follow the official booklet of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition as well to make sure that the 68k version of SFS from the CD's L: directory is used. PCI-Busboards: Mediator PCI 1200 TX Black and Mediator PCI 4000 Di Black
In a press release Elbox has announced that two new versions of the Mediator 1200 TX and Mediator 4000 Di will be available from December 21st on. The solder mask of both editions is black, therefore the producer calls it the "Black Edition".
The version 1200 TX has six PCI-slots and a red LED which indicates when PCI cards cannot be removed or inserted. The Mediator 4000 Di is meant for A4000 computers in the desktop case, has four PCI 2.2 slots (which also support 3.3-Volt boards) and four Zorro II/III-slots ("one of them used by the Mediator 4000 Core Logic card").

Cloanto: AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Classic available for download
Since version 2016, the emulation package Amiga Forever also supports the emulation of an Amiga 4000 with CyberstormPPC accelerator board. In order to install AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition "classic" to Amiga Forever, the operating system had to be bought as CD.
Starting today, Cloanto offers it online for download. The download includes an ISO and an ADF file (CD and boot disk), artwork for the DVD cover and the CD, a PDF file and the serial number.

Amiga Forever: Version 2016.0.22.0 (2nd Update)
Since today, an update to version 2016.0.22.0 of the emulation package Amiga Forever is available. As usual, existing installations can be updated using the Software Director.
New, besides other enhancements, is an easier installation process for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition, since it is possible now to directly boot from CD, so that the Bootdisk ADF is no longer needed. Accordingly, Cloanto's installation guide at the title link has been updated as well.
The problem mentioned in our previous news-item - i.e. that on some systems a hard reset or restarting the whole emulation leads to a Guru Meditation when booting from the harddisk image file - persists, though. On the other hand in our tests we could now narrow down the cause to be the Smart File System. Thus, taken together, we recommend the following installation procedure for AmigaOS 4:
- In Amiga Forever, under "Systems", choose the configuration "Amiga 4000 PPC" by clicking with the right mouse button and "Create Copy" of the configuration file.
- Now choose "Edit" the same way for the copied configuration file. In the Media tab you can "Add" the ISO file of your AmigaOS 4 Final Edition Classic CD to the "Disks". While doing so, for performance reasons you may want to set the cycle button to "external", since embedding would result in an incorporation of the CD into your RP9 configuration file. For the same reason the preconfigured harddisk file (HDF) can be changed to "external" as well by editing it.
- In the configuration tab, for the network card specify an RTL 8029 device.
- Now you can start the emulation by double-clicking the configuration file. Shortly after, the installation menu of AmigaOS 4.1 will appear.
- At first you can set your local keyboard language and time zone.
- Afterwards you can start the actual installation of AmigaOS 4. Once you get the chance there to format your HDF, do so by entering a name for the drive and choosing "Quickformat".
- Continuing the installation process, you can keep the preset options except for adjusting the graphics card ("Picasso IV") and your monitor settings.
- Before closing the installation window by clicking "finish", you have to eject the ISO file using the corresponding icon below the window. Afterwards, the emulated PowerPC Amiga will be reset automatically (if not, you can do so yourself by pressing the key combination Ctrl-Win-Win) and boot from the HDF. Once booting from harddisk has been finished, you can install some optional programs from CD.
- After exiting the emulation, you should edit your configuration file again to remove the ISO file from the Media tab.

Event: AmiCamp #4 (Athens, December 19/20)
Press release: AmiCamp #4, the Amiga event for all the Greek Amiga users, will take place in Athens (Greece) on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th of December. It will be open to the public and all the Amiga enthusiasts who keep using and having fun with their Amigas, especially the Next Generation ones.
Visitors will have the chance to watch presentations about the major operating systems (AmigaOS 4, MorphOS). Computers such as AmigaOne X1000, AmigaOne 500, Pegasos II will be available among the best Classic Amiga models, which they will use and test. The gaming will also be part of the event, as well.

Bounty: Enhancing "Workbook" to real Workbench 3.1-clone
"Workbook" is the minimalist Workbench-clone for AROS 68k. Due to the limited usage of this solution, Olaf Schönweiß has established a bounty for enhancing it to functionality of the original Workbench 3.1.
The following requirements have to be fulfill to complete the bounty:
- Support standard AmigaOS3.1 .info files
- Manually position & snapshot / unsnapshot icons and windows
- Drag & drop icons to copy / move (the icon being moved must be shown below the mouse pointer while dragging occurs)
- Make new directories
- Delete files & directories
- Rename files & directories
- View / edit file information / tooltypes
- Leave out / put away
- Make Show All Files / Show Only Icons work as per description
The required functionality has to be available in the ROM version of Workbook, "that is booting a disk only containing the LoadWB command will allow usage of Workbook with these functionalities."
Additionaly the following functionalities can be added at the discretion of the developer but are not required:

Metacompiler: PortablE r6-06-12-2015 (beta)
For PortablE an update has been released, which additional to several bug fixes provides other example programms and under AROS now also compiles Icaros Desktop Live 2.0.x. Under AmigaOS 4 the latest SDK 53.30 is supported. Besides, ReAction module as well as a ClassAct-"Emulations"-layer have been added.
Christopher Handley's metacompiler PortablE enhances the programming language Amiga E and translate it into other languages.
Preconfigured modules for graphics, sound output and music as well as for user-interfaces are included, inspired by the simplicity of AMOS. Additionally there is a PortablE forum. Mainly PortablE supports AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS, to a less extent AmigaOS 3.x and also Windows rudimentary.

Hollywood application: MiniHollyEdit NG 0.3
MiniHollyEdit written by the French programmer 'ArtBlink' was an ARexx-based editor for the programming language Hollywood. Using MUI Royale, MiniHollyEdit NG is implemented in Hollywood itself.

Video: Egoshooter on an Amiga with "SharkPPC"
With their project SonnetAmiga, the Polish developers of Sakura IT (available products: PCMCIA-SRAM-card, external disk drive) has put into practice the idea of a PowerPC exzension for Mediator-PCI-boards, which originally Elbox was going to.
Under the title link Quake II runs on such an Amiga equipped with a Sonnet-7200-card. To the SonnetAmiga project mainly belongs the sonnet.library, which is supposed to be API- and ABI-compatible with the powerpc.library of WarpOS. Because the project still is in development, there are only limited features so far. An Amiga 3000/4000 (T) as well as a Voodoo 3 or Radeon-92xx graphic board are required .

Tank shooter: Tanks Furry 0.3a (playable preview)
After Alter Ego und Chase, the third Amiga game is available developed for the Polish "RetroKomp GameDev Compo". In "Tanks Furry" you have to hit the opponent's tanks before they succedd in destroying the own base:
According the developer, the still incomplete version will be improved a lot. At the moment an Amiga 1200 is required. The game has to be started without using the startup-sequence because otherwise sound problems occur.

Individual Computers: New versions of the accelerator boards ACA1232 and ACA1233
For three years, the accelerator board ACA1232 is available. Meanwhile there are two new top models with 68030 processors in very small quantity: The ACA1232 with 50 MHz and the ACA1233 with 55,55 MHz.
"Both cards use a new SD-Ram controller that was developed specifically for the higher-speed versions of these accelerators. In addition to that, chipram access speed has been optimized."

Cloanto: Amiga Forever 2016 and C64 Forever 2016 available (3rd Update)
Cloanto has released a new version of its emulation software package Amiga Forever (screenshot).
Besides high-DPI display support as well as updated AmiKit and AROS installations (screenshot), changes include the PowerPC emulation introduced with WinUAE 3.0.0.
According to Cloanto, PowerPC emulation supports 1+ GB RAM, a PCI-bridge as well as preconfigured devices with native drivers for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition. For users upgrading from a previous version of Amiga Forever, an article describes the new features - e.g. usage of an ISO file or CD of AmigaOS 4.1 FE (not included).
The official description for installation of AmigaOS 4.1 FE "Classic" is quite minimalistic and doesn't mention that you will need the disk image file "BootFloppy.adf" found on the AmigaOS 4.1 installation CD. The installation procedure is as follows:

- In Amiga Forever, under "Systems", choose the configuration "Amiga 4000 PPC" by clicking with the right mouse button and "Create Copy" of the configuration file.
- Now choose "Edit" the same way for the copied configuration file. In the Media tab you can "Add" BootFloppy.adf to the "Disks". You may also want to set the network card to be an RTL 8029 device; also, the audio settings may be changed to one of the expanded options.
- With the AmigaOS 4.1 CD inserted you can now start the emulation by double-clicking the configuration file. Shortly after, the installation menu of AmigaOS 4.1 will appear (Screenshot).
- At first you can set your local keyboard language and time zone.
- Then you can start installation. First you have to edit the preconfigured harddisk image file (HDF) using the MediaToolBox by adding a partition with the filesystem SFS/00. Then you can "Save to Disk" and close MediaToolBox. After rebooting, choose to load Workbench from CD and "Format" the now appearing harddisk by clicking its icon with the right mouse button.
- Now you can start the actual installation. You can keep the preset options except for adjusting the graphics card ("Picasso IV") and your monitor settings (Screenshot).
- After finishing installation, you can eject the ADF file using the corresponding icon below the window as well as the installation CD and you are done - just reboot by keeping the Ctrl-Win-Win keys pressed (see annotation below) and AmigaOS 4 will be started from your harddisk
- If you keep the option to add the BootFloppy.adf file again unchecked after closing the emulation, it will be removed from the configuration file automatically - otherwise you can do so manually of course by editing it again.
Please note: It seems that in some cases - ours for example - the AmigaOS 4 installation gets corrupted if a hard reset is performed by clicking the according icon at the top of the Amiga Forever window instead of simply resetting the Amiga from inside the emulation by the Ctrl-Win-Win key combination. In case this is happening to you as well, so that trying to boot from the HDF will result in a Guru Meditation, you don't have to reinstall the OS, though. It's sufficient to boot again from the BootFloppy.adf and the installation CD - once the PowerPC emulation has started, you may soft reset the emulated Amiga and it will boot again also from your AmigaOS 4 installation.

Series of articles: The 68000 Wars, part 3 and 4
In his blog, the author Jimmy Maher (The Future Was Here - The Commodore Amiga) publishes the series of articles "The 68000 Wars", which is about the history of the Amiga and of the Atari.
The third part We Made Amiga, They Fucked It Up is about the time of the market launch of the Amiga until the beginning of the year 1987, when the original development department was closed. Part four ("Rock Lobster") is dedicated to Thomas Rattigan, who saved Commmodore from going bankrott and succeeded in selling the Amiga in the mass market.

Point'n Click Adventure: The Secret of Middle City on AMIStore
After a development of 15 years, recently the the point'n click adventure "The Secret of Middle City" has been finished and now is available on AMIstore for about 10 Euro.
According to the maintainer, this is a "non-exclusive" licence for the distribution of the game. Other buying sources - e.g. for the MorphOS-port or the announced version in a real box - are not known.

Compiler: vbcc 0.9d Patch 2
vbcc is a C-compiler written by Volker Barthelmann (compiler core) and Frank Wille (Amiga-specific adaptions). The compiler supports AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, PowerUp and WarpOS and meets ISO-C (ISO/IEC 9899:1989) as well as a part of the new standard ISO/IEC 9899:1999 (C99).
As patch to the current version 0.9d, some changes are added (s. Patch 1):
- make setjmp() and longjmp() save and restore FPU registers, which seems required since C99. Note that, for 68k, you have to link with the respective math library (m881, m040, m060) to get the function with FPU support. The PPC vclib will always assume that an FPU is present.
- Additionally, the 68k archive contains the missing kick13 configuration file.

Amiga-Emulator: WinFellow 0.5.3
In close succession, two versions of the Windows-based Amiga emulator WinFellow 0.5.3 have been released. The second one ("0.5.3 build 1004") was compiled again with Visual Studio 2013 Update 5, to avoid compatibility problems with Windows XP. The originally released version provides the following changes:
New features:
- support for high DPI configurations, also when used together with Amiga Forever 2016
- support for the original Amiga 1000 boot process from Kickstart disk boot; configure the A1000 bootstrap ROM like any other ROM image for the feature to be automatically enabled
- support for keyboard-initiated reset - press Ctrl+Left Windows+Right Windows or Ctrl+Left Windows+Context Menu (as not all keyboards have a right Windows key) to initiate a reboot within an emulated session
- support for extended ROM images; this gives the ability to use the AROS boot ROM
- support for screenshots, clipping editor/live preview and scanlines in Amiga Forever
Changed functions:
- WinFellow is now compiled using Visual Studio 2015
- the default configuration contains 512kB chip/bogo memory now and has the real-time clock active (Amiga 500 with A-501 expansion)
- the default configuration is now windowed and has LEDs active
- chip memory mirroring has been implemented for OCS chipsets; the change was required for compatibility reasons, as some titles rely on it. because of this change, chip memory is now limited to 512kB when an OCS blitter has been configured; if you need to use more, please use the ECS Agnus blitter in your display configuration (it is an actual limitation of the OCS chipset)
- 2x mode in Amiga Forever now scales via DirectX instead of the internal draw modules (design change was necessary to enable live preview in 2x mode)
Fixed bugs:
- implemented bogo memory mirroring for ECS chipset with 512kB chip/bogo memory (required by the demo Move any Mountain)
- fix for CIA timer logic (fixes the game Atomix)
- fixes for several CPU instructions:
- '020 bit-field instructions were re-implemented (fix for Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 96k)
- ASL instruction's overflow detection was improved
- MULU flag check improved
- escape key special handling in Amiga Forever improved (some titles would not detect an escape key press before)

AROS: FUSE file system bounty project finished
The project for implementing the FUSE API including a NTFS-driver for AROS/i386, donated with 524 US-Dollar, has been finished by Fredrik Wikstrom in this year's attempt.
Currently the FUSE-system has been not added to the AROS-builds, but can be downloaded. You can find information about the installation and usage on AROS-Exec.
Please note, that automounting is still not supported. How you can generate a mountlist using the HDToolBox, you can also learn in the thread on AROS-Exec.
The port of the ALSA audio driver for the Linux-hosted version for AROS has been almost finished by Krzysztof Śmiechowicz. Currently it is tested. You can still donate for the project.

WHDLoad: New packages until 21.11.2015
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until November 21st, 2015:
- 2015-11-17 improved: 4th & Inches (Accolade) Lots of blitter waits added (should fix all graphics problems), wrong blits fixed, manual included (Info)
- 2015-11-17 improved: Miami Vice Theme (Swiss Cracking Association) workaround for broken disk 4 removed, WHDLoad v17+ features used (config) (Info, Image)

Carsten Siegner's Bootanimplayer plays bootanimations under MorphOS, which were originally meant for Adroid devices. You can find such animations at android-hilfe.de (in German).
The archive includes the tool as well as the source code of the programm.

AmigaOS 4: Arcade-Emulator FinalBurn Alpha 0.2.97.36 R1
FinalBurn Alpha is an arcade and console emulator, which among others emulates Sega Master System and MegaDrive, Colecovision, Capcom CS-1/2/3 and Neo Geo.
The version for AmigaOS-4, provided by Hugues 'HunoPPC' Nouvel, works fine on an AmigaOne X1000 with activated graphics filter, without them on a Sam440 as well. The preferences interface offers many options. All in all more than 8.000 ROMs are supported (which are not included). Some of the new features, Hugues Nouvel has presented at this year's Alchimie (video).
Changes in version 0.2.97.36 R1 for AmigaOS 4:

- Work on USB support for Linux hosted AROS continues (DizzyOfCRN)
- USB devices are now enumerated and visible in Trident using Linux hosted USB driver (DizzyOfCRN)
- Bulk transfers are now enabled in Linux hosted AROS USB driver (DizzyOfCRN)
- Linux hosted AROS can now receive keyboard input even without mouse pointer being in the AROS window (neil)
- Storage USB devices can now be accessed using Linux hosted AROS USB driver (DizzyOfCRN)
- A problem in Linux hosted AROS related with Linux side libraries using separate threads has been fixed (deadwood)
- ALSA audio driver for Linux hosted AROS transfers better chunked data for improved playback stability (deadwood)
Week of November 9th:
- IoErr() handling in datatypes.library has been improved (neil)
