Printed magazine: Amiga Future 117 - Preview and extracts
Today some coloured extracts and previews have been published of issue 117 (November/December 2015) of the Amiga Future. Highlights of the issue are an interview with Kurt Cotoaga (Demonware), a review of hardware for the year 2016 and the sixth part of the workshop Developing Demo Effects #6: Handling the the Glenz. Among others on the CoverCD there is PD-software and full versions of Evil Garden, Mission Andromeda.

- MUIA_Listview_DefClickColumn attribute of MUI Listview class is now implemented (neil)
- MUIA_Listview_DoubleClick attribute is now set when the "press" key is pressed (neil)
- Index of the active entry during MUIM_List_Insert and MUIM_List_InsertSingle is now updated (neil)

New A1200 cases: More than 110.000-Euro paid, official Amiga-T-Shirts
Nine days before the end of the Kickstarter campaign, for the project for producing new, improved Amiga-1200 cases (amiga-news.de reported) over 110.000 Euro has been paid. The financial target is 125.000 Euro.
Now you can also support the project by purchasing official Amiga-T-Shirts. You can choose between three motifs.
From weekend on, there will be new special editions of the case of Lukhash. One version will be offered only once and includes a private extra of the 8-Bit musician, the other version is available, if you pay for more than ten pieces.
Additionally, the traders TheGamingWareHouse and AmigaStore support the project by offering coupons. The Polish Amiga portal PPA has invested in 60 cases with a special colour.
The latest special editions of a case is a package of the demo scene group Phenomena and of 010101 Music. The Phenomena-edition also includes an USB-stick, a T-Shirt, a mouse pad, a key fob, a cup and a surprise. The edition of 010101 Music includes four CD-albums ("Paula, Agnus, Denise", "Insert Disk 2", "Immortal 3" and "Immortal 4") as well as three cups.

Hollywood: Easing Lib 1.2
Fabio Falcucci has updated his Hollywood library "Easing Lib". There are no detailed information of changes in version 1.2. Easing Lib is distributed as shareware and allows you to "create smooth transitions between values so you can use it to animate anything you like: graphical objects, colors, values, and any value you need to be smoothly changed into another value."

Keyboard adapter: Firmware update for Sum USB 1200/600
Sum is a USB adapter for connecting keyboards to the Amiga (amiga-news.de reported). For the base model Sum USB (for the A1200) and its variant for the Amiga 600 a firmware update has been released now that, for example, adds support for Apple keyboards.
Firmware update v20151017 comes with following changes:
- Apple USB keyboard (USB hub-equipped models) support
- New F10 option in adapter settings that enables displaying selected keys codes
- New F12 option in adapter settings that establishes displaying device settings
- New R-Shift + F19 Mac keyboard shortcut launching adapter settings
- Improved Shift keys support for Pinball series games

Event: News and videos from the AmiWest 2015 (Update)
Marko Seppanen has summarized the news of this year's AmiWest in Sacramento :
- A batch of 500 boards of the AmigaOne X5000/020 currently is produced and are supposed to be shipped before the end of this year using a new type of Fractal Design case. The AmigaOne X5000/040 will be shipped next year
- A batch of 1000 boards of the Tabor-board is and will be produced, their performance was good enough [Editor's note: AmigaOS 4 currently does not run on it]
- The AmiStore now has more than 700 registered users.
- There will be an update to AOS4.1 Final Edition. All existing platforms will be supported. There are no detailed plans for 4.2, adding Gallum is still a long way.
- The music programm OctaMED OctaMed now is fully OS4 native, the animation programm Take 2 was gifted to the Amiga community and an update for TuneNet will be released with broadcasting fixed and with some extra features.

Download link and new information on "Amiga Racer"
In a thread on a1k.org, some screenshots of "Amiga Racer" were published. Additionally the developer justifies himself to the users there. The game explicitly is inspired by Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge and will be offered for free for AmigaOS 3 (68020), AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS.
A preversion for AmigaOS 4 is already available. Currently the ports for MorphOS and 68020 are developed. Within the game you can change to the full screen mode by pressing the "F"-key and you can also update to the latest version of "Amiga Racer".

AROS: Distribution AROS Broadway 1.0 Preview 4
Under the title (and via the App-store) link you can download "preview 4" of version 1.0 of Pascal Papara's AROS-Distribution AROS Broadway (screenshot).

Emulator: FS-UAE 2.7.3dev
Frode Solheim's FS-UAE is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD and based on WinUAE and "includes an easy-to-use graphical configuration program which allows you to enjoy FS-UAE and Amiga emulation without writing configuration files."
Changes of the beta version 2.7.3dev:
- Support for multimedia keys: volume up, volume down and mute
- New shortcut Mod+K to toggle full keyboard emulation
- Using (Left) Alt (Cmd on Mac OS X) as default keyboard shortcut modifier
- Workaround to allow Alt+Tab to work on non-Windows/non-OS-X platforms
- Most built-in shortcuts are now configurable
- Actions for built-in shortcuts are now available for mapping
- Actions for F11 and F12 (release) can be customized

- JIT: Better fldcw_m_indexed fix (can use all x86-64 registers)

- Fix callee-saved registers for Windows x64 ABI
- Fixed crash when using Blizzard accelerators and x86-64 JIT
- Respect cpu option when checking for Zorro III config problems

Known issues:
- Opening the F12 menu / Using the modifier key causes FS-UAE to blink on Windows due to ungrabbing input (might have to disable this feature on Windows)

Animation programm: Take 2 released
On request of Dan Schallock, Geert Vergauwe has gifted his programm "Take 2" and its source code to the Amiga community. The latest version Take 5 is commercially offered for x86-computers (Windows and Mac OS X).
In the 1980s and 1990s, Geert Vergauwe cooperated with Rombo, which is the supplier of the "Vidi" video digitizer, and they also developed Take 2 in order to be able craeting classic pencil animations.
The source code of Take 2 is available in assembler. The author only asks to send him any kind of further development of the programm. Dan Schallock has presented the programm during this years's AmiWest.

AnimWebConverter 2.30
AnimWebConverter is a little Hollywood programm for AmigaOS 3/4 and MorphOS, which can convert IFF-animations of the Anim or Yafa format into animated GIF and PNG files. You can also resize them.

Workbench-Distribution: AmiKit 8.5.1 on an USB-stick under WinUAE
The Workbench distribution AmiKit, which is meant for emulators, is available in version 8.5.1.
For the first time the distribution can be purchased as "Special Amiga 30 Years Edition" on an USB-stick. Contrary to previous versions, WinUAE is used instead of E-UAE, which runs on an adapted Linux distribution named AmiPUP. This provides higher speed and stability.
Using the new function "Rabbit Hole" it is now possible to launch Windows and Linux programms and to open files from the Amiga section.

Hollywood: Ansi Lib 1.0 for printing colored text in the console

AmigaOS 4/MorphOS: Preversion of "Amiga Racer"
On some pictures of the "Amiga 30" in Neuss a DVD-case with a cover of a game named "Amiga Racer" could be seen. Under the address amigatec.com currently there is only a website which is under construction.
The blog "Amiga Spiele News" made further investigations and found out, that "AmigaTec Inc." is Michael St Neitzel, who is going to develop games for AmigaOS 4 - on Youtube there is a promotional video which introduces the "company" AmigaTec.
Back to "Amiga Racer": In a Facebook group, which obviously is only accessable to invited members, an early version of the game can be downloaded. After the programm was launched, it can be updated.
The Spanish blog "Amiga Discovery" has found a snapshot of the event Amiga 30, which shows the game. As you can see, the game also runs under MorphOS.

Announcement : AmiCloud (beta) for AmigaOS
Pascal Papara's "AmiCloud" will offer 1 GB memory space for a single payment of 5 Euro. The client, which can access webspace from the home computer, is available for Windows, OS X and Linux and now also for AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS (i386).
The AmiCloud client syncs the content of the local folders with the cloud memory. Additionally, single files can be enabled for public download.
The AmiCloud client has to be purchased via the Indiego-Appstore, paying with virtual valuta "Indiecoins" - this can be bought on ares-shop.de.
During the beta phase there is only a limited amount of AmiCloud accounts. Pascal Papara has established a Facebook site where further information are available.

AmigaOS 4 / MorphOS: Ask Me Up 2.4.3 auf CD in einer DVD-Box
Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Ask Me Up "is a video game about general knowledge" for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS (as well as for Android, Linux and Windows), where you have to answer a question by choosing an answer out of four. Version 2.4.3 now is available on CD ("pressed" quality), in a black DVD case with booklet of 12 pages (written in French, English and Spanish) which is supposed to be available at different Amiga traders soon.
Most important changes of version 2.4.3:
- Now released in CD edition
- Questions fixed (including new French regions)
- New Portuguese and Swedish translations added
- Link added in the game to the German web page (if that language is chosen)
- Documentation update with notably, Spanish translation improved (V1.03)
- High scores sharing document also released in Greek

Playstation-Emulator: FPSE 0.10.5 for all Amiga systems
The "Free Play Station Emulator" (FPSE) now is available in version 0.10.5 for AmigaOS 3/4, MorphOS and AROS/x86. The plugin, which emulates joypads using the lowlevel.library, now can use two joysticks to emulate PSX-Joypads. Besides, a SDK for the development of the plugin is available.

ACube und A-EON: PPC motherboard A1222 "Tabor" revealed
The hardware vendors ACube and A-EON seem to have established a partnership: during the German "Amiga 30" event, a new PPC motherboard named "A1222" or "Tabor" was discussed for the first time. There are no official statements yet, but the information that has reached us so far suggests the following specifications:
- Dualcore 1,2Ghz, CPU not known yet
- 8Gb DDR 3 RAM
- MiniITX form factor
- price between 700 and 1000 Euro
Two pictures that were posted to the italian Amiga portal ikirsektor.it show the actual motherboard aswell as printed manuals for installing Linux on the "A1222":

According to visitors of the "Amiga 30" event, a QorIQ P1022 is used as Tabor's CPU. This processor is equipped with a FPU that is incompatible to that of most other Power CPUs - especially those used in AmigaOS 4 hardware. Apparently, emulating a 'regular' FPU in software is possible - though having to perform all floating point calculations in software would drastically reduce performance in some areas (graphics, sound, 3D). WebGL: Amiga-Juggler-animation as an example programm
Under the title link, Eric Graham's animation "The Juggler" created in 1986/87 was reimplemented using WebGL so all commands are submitted directly to the graphic card. Since the source code is available, this raytracing can be used as an example programm.

Shoot'em Up: Richard Löwenstein (Amiga Joker) develops RESHOOT
Richard Löwenstein has restarted a project: He is going to finish a Shoot'em-Up game for AGA-Amigas named "RESHOOT" which was started developing twenty years ago. He will demonstrate the current level of development on Saturday at the "Amiga 30" in Neuss.

AROS: Aros Vision RTG 2.9.6
The latest RTG-version of Olaf Schönweiß' AROS/68k-distribution "Aros Vision" includes a new design, new sound effects for different GUI-actions and has been updated with the latest versions of Zune and Limpidclock.
Thanks to the new version of the MUI-clone Zune, now several MUI-applications do work - among others the configuration of SimpleMail. YAM now is also part of the distribution.
Additionally Aros Vision RTG 2.9.6 includes new versions of InstallerGen, GCC, the Hollywood-Plugins, ScummVM RTG, Amiblitz, Magellan and Netsurf.

New A1200-cases: Further special editions
The Kickstarter-project for new Amiga-1200-cases (amiga-news.de reported) so far has collected 78.500 Euro. That means, during the next 30 days 50.000 Euro has to be paid to achieve the finacial goal.
Two new special editions may help to achieve this:
- The Amiga Works - Allister Brimble Special Edition:
Two years ago, the computer game composer Allister Brimble published his album The Amiga Works, which is included in this special edition additional to a poster and the soundtrack-CD of the game "Alien Breed 3D" created by Bjørn Lynne.
- Skid Row Limited Edition:
The special edition of the cracker group Skid Row includes a T-Shirt, a cup, a poster, a surprise as well as a book - either Brian Bagnall's "Commodore: The Amiga Years" or "Hackers" written by Steven Levy.
If you are going to support the project, you can also purchase three official Amiga cups as a set together with the other things. Additionally, there is also a new signature: RJ Mical.

Week of September 14th:

Hollywood: HTTP-Streamer-Plugin
Press release: Airsoft Softwair - the hardest work men in code business - are proud to present a brand-new plugin for Hollywood: The HTTP Streamer. This plugin allows Hollywood scripts to open files stored on HTTP servers as if they were local files.
Furthermore, the plugin also supports streaming of audio and video files via HTTP if the AVCodec plugin is installed. This finally makes it possible to do video and audio streaming with Hollywood which opens up a whole new range of possibilities for developers! Once this plugin has been activated, all Hollywood functions that deal with files will "automagically" be able to open files from HTTP sources as if they were stored on a local drive. It just doesn't get any more convenient!
The HTTP Streamer uses a sophisticated multi-threaded design for highly efficient HTTP streaming. Each HTTP connection is managed by a dedicated thread for optimal performance. This means that even when dealing with slower connections, Hollywood itself will never become sluggish or anything as all HTTP I/O runs on dedicated threads.
The HTTP Streamer is the second plugin to bear the Powered by Hollywood 6.0 seal of quality as it utilizes the new file adapter plugin interface and the streaming APIs introduced with Hollywood 6.0. The plugin will not work with older versions of Hollywood. That's why we here at Airsoft Softwair say: Life starts at 6.0.
The HTTP Streamer is available free of charge and can be downloaded from the official Hollywood portal Versions for AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, AROS (i386), Windows, Mac OS X (PowerPC and i386), Linux (PowerPC, i386, ARM) and Android are provided.
Please note that video and audio streaming requires at least version 1.3 of the AVCodec plugin.

Hardware: SCSI-adapter for SD-cards
Using SCSI2SD it is possible to use SD-cards as SCSI-harddrives. The adapter is available in two different versions: Additional to the 3,5" standard version, there is also a 2,5"-version meant for Apple's PowerBook, which can replace its internal harddrive.
The adapter was tested with the following Amiga models:
- Amiga 500+ with GVP A530
- Amiga 500 KS 1.3 with Oktagon 508 SCSI-2 controller
- Amiga 2000 (B2000 rev 6.4 ECS) with DKB RapidFire SCSI 1 card
- Amiga 4000 equipped with CyberStorm PPC using 68 pin adapter
Since the developers ship the SCSI2SD-adapter from Australia and another trader is situated in China, Alex Perez currently offers the 3,5"-version from USA in two different options, which include a SD-card with 4 GB or 256 MB.

Trademark rights: Scene-World-Podcast-Interview with Commodore Business Machines
In its 13th issue, the English-language podcast Scene World has interviewed Massimo Canigiani and Paolo Besser. Canigiani is chief executive officer (CEO) of "Commodore Business Machines Ltd." registered in Great Britain which is going to sell a commercial Android smartphone as "Commodore PET" (amiga-news.de reported).
But there is also direct connection to the Amiga section because Paolo Besser is well-known for his most popular AROS-Distribution Icaros Desktop. Therefore as Amiga emulator of the smartphone the AROS-Kickstart-ROM is used.
In this interview Canigiani and Besser clarified, that they are not only going to make quick money with the "Commodore PET", which will be delivered in a few weeks, but in future also develop separate products. The users can configure many options by themselves. Therefore the smartphone can be rooted without losing the warranty. Only if you use ROMs of your own, This guarantee expires immediately.
They also cooperate with the authors of the emulator to ensure an optimal adaption. While the emulation in the original version would not have run completly fluently on a similar Galaxy S5 now it does.

Amiga-Emulator: FS-UAE 2.6.1 and FS-UAE 2.7.0dev
Frode Solheim's FS-UAE is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD and based on WinUAE and "includes an easy-to-use graphical configuration program which allows you to enjoy FS-UAE and Amiga emulation without writing configuration files." Version 2.6.1 supplants the last stable release 2.4.1 and among others offers the following features (full changelog):
- Updated emulation code from WinUAE 3.1.0
- Support for PPC emulation (can run AmigaOS 4.x) via QEMU-UAE plugin
- More emulated hardware support (Toccata, A2061, Picasso IV, …)
- Better support for modern OS versions due to using SDL 2.0
- Built-in support for multiple displays, and fixes for HiDPI displays
- The Launcher supports modern OS versions better due to using QT 5.x
- Much improved FS-UAE Launcher user interface
- FS-UAE mouse integration (Workbench cursor follows host cursor)
- Updated internal kickstart replacement from AROS
- Dual joystick/mouse mode for joystick port 0
- Official builds for SteamOS (Linux + Steam runtime)
- OS X apps are now digitally signed (Apple Developer ID)
- Support for JIT direct memory access (much faster JIT)
- More gamepads are recognized out of the box
- Many bug fixes
Version 2.7.0 of FS-UAE was also released and is the development branch. This beta version offers the following changes:
- Merged JIT compiler updates from the ARAnyM project
- Support for JIT compilation on x86-64 (Linux/Windows/OS X). It may contain bugs yet. FPU JIT is currently disabled by default for x86-64
- JIT 64-bit direct memory exception handlers for Linux/Windows/OS X
- Compile FS-UAE / Windows as large address aware for more virtual memory
- Updated emulation core from WinUAE 3200b12

Announcement: Games industry simulation Game Tycoon 2 also for Amiga
According to the developer on the website of the project, the successor of the games industry simulation "Game Tycoon" which was released in 2003, is supposed to be available at the end of October via "Steam Early Access" for Windows. At the same time a website for an Amiga version of the game has been established, which announces a port for Amiga ECS-systems for 2017 and maybe an "an optimized version for AGA" but which "isn't sure".

The Finnish Amiga Users Group has organized the eighth issue of the "Saku" in Oulu (Finland) which will take place on September 26th. Amiga 1200: Repair part sets turned up
Parallel to the Kickstarter project for a new A1200-case, Petro Tyschtschenko has procured original repair part sets for the Amiga 1200 and offers them under the title link.
On Facebook he wrote in a non-public section in German: Thank you for the first orders at shop.boingbox.de. Actually they are new and original repair sets from 1997, which have become deposited by an Amiga user for 18 years. Choice articles which have not gone yellow or scratched. Partly the A1200-keyboards are packaged in plastic. UK and German version. To provide some support to the community, I agreed to manage the complete order processing.

AnimWebConverter 2.0 (AmigaOS 3/4, MorphOS)
AnimWebConverter is a little Hollywood programm for AmigaOS 3/4 and MorphOS which can convert IFF-animations of the Anim- or Yafa-format into animated GIF- and PNG-files. It can also change the size. The new version provides an improved user-interface and it is also possible to export single frames as image file. Besides, some bugs have been fixed.

Interview with David Pleasance (Commodore UK)
In 2013 for the French magazine "Amiga Power", Philippe Ferruci has interviewed David Pleasance - who is the former executive director of Commodore UK. After the bankruptcy of the parent company, Commodore UK tried to acquire it but was supplanted by Escom. The interview now has been published as English and French version on the website of Obligement.

Browser application: Amiga PCB Explorer now supports Amiga 1200
The "Amiga PCB Explorer", developed by Christian 'Scrat' Euler, is supposed to support amateur craftsman repairing Amiga mainboards. Additional to the originally supported A4000 Rev.2 mainboard now the data of A1200 Rev 2B platine has been added.

Week of September 7th:
- Zune test suite is now extended to support almost all List and Listview methods and attributes (neil)

Podcast: Amicast 6 (Engl.), interview with Philippe Lang (A1200 case project)
The sixth issue of the English-language podcast Amicast is about the Kickstarter project for extensible A1200 replacement cases und interviewed its initiator, Philippe Lang.
He talked about the way from the idea to the sepcial editions, the forthcoming project for new Amiga keyboards and the licence given by Amiga Inc. (amiga-news.de reported). So far 56 % of the required amount of money has been payed. You can still support the project for 45 days.

AmigaOS 4 / MorphOS: Ask Me Up 2.4.2
Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Ask Me Up is a puzzle game for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS (as well as Android, Linux and Windows) in which you have to answer correctly questions on common knowledge, each with four possible answers. In the L and XL edition there is also a two-player mode. A demo version with 80 questions is available for free.
Changes in version 2.4.2:

FPGA: Minimig-AGA-Core 1.1 for MiST-board
For the Atari-/Amiga-clone MiST (amiga-news.de reported), the FPGA-reimplementation of the Amiga with AGA-support is available in version 1.1.
This release mainly fixes bugs. The developers ask you to mind the readme-file - e.g. the AROS-ROM currently does not work together with the Minimig-IDE-implementation.
Changes:
- Fixed mouse issues (fixes games Like Ishar 1, 2, 3, Robinson's Requiem, and many cracktros)
- Fixed keyboard issues (fixes game Walker and probably many others)
- Changes to FPGA clock handling, hopefully this will make a more stable minimig core
- Entering the OSD menu using UP+DOWN buttons on a DB-9 connected joystick has been disabled
- 1 MB kickstart ROM support added (enables you to run AROS ROM or your custom kickstart ROM)
- Firmware now again supports using 256 kB Kickstart ROMs
- Firmware now again supports using Cloanto AmigaForever encrypted Kickstart ROMs

Keyboard adapter: Sum A600
Following Amiga models 1200, 2000, 3000 and, if an additional converter is added, also 500 (amiga-news.de reported), a version of the "Sum" keyboqard adapter is available now for the Amiga 600, enabling usage of a USB keyboard (photo).
Sum provides built-in USB stack which enables USB HID keyboards support without the need for installing additional AmigaOS software drivers. The device’s installation procedure consists of simply attaching it to the U7 chip located on the A600’s motherboard.
