Individual Computers: New production run of the Competition Pro joystick
Press release In cooperation with Speed-Link we re-launched the only true joystick in september 2006: The Competition PRO for connection to a C64, Atari, Amiga, MSX and Amstrad/Schneider. The project was a huge success, only a few resellers can ship the cult device from the eighties at the moment.

Since an end to the demand is not forseeable, we started a new production run together with Speed-Link. Brand new joysticks for computer-classics of the eighties will be available in july of this year. The technical data in short:
  • A true classic, an icon of retro-gaming
  • Connects to all retro systems like Amiga, C64, Amstrad/Schneider CPC, Atari, MSX
  • Six microswitches, two axles, four fire buttons
  • Upper fire buttons can be switched off
  • Cable length of 1.80 meters (5.9 ft)
The new production run of the Competition PRO Retro was financially supported by our retail partners. The following resellers will carry the new joysticks exclusively until december 31st, 2009: Speed-Link will also sell a small quantity of the Competition PRO Retro in their Online-Shop. The new joysticks will be available in july 2009 for a price of 14,99 EUR (RRP incl. German VAT of 19%). Also look for bundle-offers at the reseller of your choice!

Our smaller, but not less important resellers Protovision and Alinea-Computer still have a small quantity of the Competition PRO Retro in stock; if you don't want to wait until july, you can order the ultimate gaming device for your favourite computer without any delays! (snx)

Poseidon USB Bounty: Donation doubling action
Krzysztof "Deadwood" Smiechowicz requested in different English forums for donations for the Poseidon-Bounty. He offers to double all donations which will be paid during the next three weeks to gain the aim of 4000 USD.

Smiechowicz pointed out that the port of Poseidon will not only be useful for AROS but by releasing the sources for all Amiga systems. You can donate at power2people.org.

So far Smiechowicz was known as developer, e.g. he made the AROS-ports of MPlayer and Eternal Lands. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Changes:
  • Makes the game run natively on MacOS X Tiger/Leopard machines

  • Replaces zooming routines with more optimized ones (especially 3x and 4x)

  • Adds the possibility of disabling the rendering of barriers
  • Improves a bit the original themes
  • Enriches slightly the Evil Masters AI

  • Adds the option of sorting missions by difficulty
  • Allows the use of joypads/joysticks with just 1 button

    • [PAGE UP/DOWN] handling (repeat delay handling was missing)
    • A bad optimization of ray-tracing routine (which had no practical effects thanks to the way maps and themes were made)
  • Improves and extends the user's manual
  • Links the AmigaOS 4 version to libSDL 1.2.13
  • Applies some other minor changes

Status update: Digibooster Professional 3
Press release: APC&TCP, responsible for the distribution and development of the music software Digibooster Professional 3, wants to give you an overview of the development of the new version as stated on 19th January 2009 in the news.

First of all we have to say that the program is being rewritten from scratch opening new opportunities which haven't been possible with the old sources of Version 2.xx or at least without an unacceptable amount of work. The program structure can be enhanced now and designed with more efficiency in mind.

playback routine

The implementation of the playback routine on the basis of Digibooster Professional version 2.xx in the new version 3 is nearly finished. Smaller effect commands like Sxx (Pitch up/down) or Lxx (setting of envelope position) and the DSP echo effects parameters (Vxx, Wxx, Xxx, Yxx, Zxx) must be implemented yet. Once we have done that the new playback routine will equal to 100% the one of version 2.xx on the new basis. Moreover the new playback routine will be very portable having a positive effect on the portability to non AmigaOS compatible platforms. Furthermore the new playback routine will be 100% independent of AHI.

Digibooster Professional 3 GUI

The basic GUI functions like
  • trackerraster
  • instrument list
  • edit options (new, delete, change, ...)

are already implemented. In addition the programm will run with several tasks (tracker, player, ...). Visual customization using different skins will be possible too.

Some initial screenshots of the GUI have been released (1 2 3 4 ), please keep in mind that these do not show the finished product.

DigiRoller

This external program will enable you to render music files to complete AIFF or WAV files. It will be made available to the community for open testing shortly. Please note that this isn't the final version.

At this point we would like to advise you of the support forum of Digibooster Professional. Everyone interested in the development and integration of new ideas is welcome to take part at the discussions. Support-Page APC&TCP (cg) (Translation: cg)
