AmigaOS 4: Web browser Odyssey 3.00 alpha
In June of this year, Andrea 'afxgroup' Palmatè reported that work was underway on further developing the Odyssey browser for AmigaOS 4 based on Krzysztof 'deadwood' Śmiechowicz's AROS port (which was derived from the MorphOS code base) of the WebKit engine.
Now, an initial alpha version has been released, which, like the AROS port, is based on the WebKit engine 2.24.4 from 2019. It was compiled with GCC 11 (with --enable-sjlj-exceptions disabled), resulting in a noticeable increase in speed. The new clib4 memory allocation (amiga-news.de reported) is integrated, improving memory management and stability. The version also contains several internal optimisations to make the browser smoother and faster. Audio and video playback is currently disabled in this alpha version.
