New screenshots of the Tales of Tamar 3D map
Tales of Tamar is a round based fantasy, strategy & and role playing game for Amiga, PC & Mac. Versions for Linux and Java are under development. Martin Wolf wrote:

"There are new snapshots of the 3D map available that is right now in development for Tales of Tamar. This 3D map will be implemented into the client by the end of the year and is meant to move the project together with higher resolution and higher number of colours to the first row of round based strategy games.

Now we ask for your opinion! Here are the snapshots:

Of course, units and the users interface are missing.

  • Better HTTP support
  • Support of "URL encoding" (spaces or special characters in an URL)
  • Simple HTTP authentication
  • Now works with WinUAE, too
The author asks for feedback, especially from users with hardware MPEG decoders. (cg) (Translation: wk)

Hardware "hack": Prometheus in desktop case
Jim "Redrumloa" Farley by Anachronism Industries has found a way to built a "Prometheus" PCI busboard into a (closed) A3000 or A4000 desktop case. To do this are no modifications necessary for the Prometheus or the A4000.

In his test computer has Farley next to the Prometheus built in a Voodoo3 graphics card and a PCI network card - still the video slot and two Zorro slots are accessible. A third Zorro slot is partly covered but should offer enough space for short slot cards.

Further details and some photos can be found at amiga.org. Obviously Farley is thinking about offering the needed parts for sale. (cg) (Translation: wk)

UAE: "AmiRun" directly starts an application instead of Workbench
'AmiRun' is a patch for Richard Drummond's UAE which allows you to directly run an executable Amiga file instead of the Workbench. It is usefull if you want to run a hard disk game without dealing with the Amiga's Workbench.

To activate this function, you need to download the sources for UAE and AmiRun, patch the UAE sources and recompile the emulator afterwards. From now on, 'UAE -e filename' will start the emulator, boot the emulated Amiga and then run the program 'filename' instead of Workbench. (cg) (Translation: cg)

Found: Chinese AOne-product
Ingo Schmitz sent us this picture to the topic "AOne". We wonder: Who is Ve Wong and is there a connection to KMOS? In any case the newest product of Eyetech seems to be smaller than a MiniITX - at least so long until you will not add water. The comment of an AOne-beta tester: "Tastes like chicken somehow..." ;-) (snx) (Translation: dr)

Apple: New iMacs still not there - old ones not available any longer
Curiosity at Apple: The company seems not to be able to deliver iMacs during the next months. While the new products of the known series will come not before September to the market the producer does not accept orders for the current computers any longer. It seems not to be clear if this situation will take influence on the profit of the company. (cs) (Translation: dr)
