Aminet: Server-Moving, now working properly again
Pressnotification:  After a period of unfortunate problems with our previous main server, we decided to try to move to a new location, the new server is located in California and has proved stable enough so far. As it turns out, a bug that might have been triggering the old stability issues has been fixed. After battling various small problems for the last few days, Aminet should now be working properly again. If you still encounter any glitches, don't hesitate to drop us a note. Some long-standing issues that people have noticed have also been fixed: searching for several keywords should return proper results again, sorting search results by date works again and a few minor glitches in the all-new, all-shiny web upload interface have been corrected. In addition parts of the code has been refactored, and made more robust. For more details, check the Changelog.

Press release:  Website of Amiga Future was hacked two times.

The good site of it was that we finally found the security lack and fixed it. Therefore some scripts did not work any longer, e.g. the eMail contact formular. If you have sent us a mail and did not get an answer please write again.

AmigaOS 4: Bounty site for Sputnik port
Under the title link Troels Ersking has opened a website where you can pay for an AmigaOS 4-port of the browser Sputnik. It is a KHTML port which Marcin 'Marcik' Kwiatkowski has started developing for MorphOS (amiga-news.de reported).

If the bounty should achieve an amount of 3100 Euro the port will be started for AmigaOS 4 if the MorphOS will be finished which is expected during the first quarter of this year .

A limit of eight months has been set: If the amount will be not achieved during this time with the help of suggestions of this forum Troels Ersking will choose different AmigaOS 4-projects which will get the money. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Linux: PowerPC-version of Ubuntu from version 7.04 inofficial
The Technical Board has decided that from version 7.04 the PowerPC version of the Linux distribution Ubuntu has only the status "inofficial".

This means that in future the Community Team is responsible for the PowerPC version and therefore this version may has a slower development than the official version if the team cannot perform tests and bug fixes in time.

The previous PowerPC versions of Ubuntu will be supported in limited time. As an example Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on PowerPC-servers will be supported until 2011. (snx) (Translation: dr)
