French webshop Amedia sells personalized WHDLoad keyfiles
Amedia sells keyfiles for WHDLoad. The WHDLoad system has been freeware for four years and does not require any keyfile - the Amedia keyfiles obviously are personalized having the name of the customer in the WHDLoad requester.
We have asked Bernd Jahn if the offer is valid which he confirmed. Requesting if there has not been any option for donating money he points out to the official donation site of WHDLoad, which is not promoted.

Amiga comeback: Game developer and mailorder publisher 'Mutation Software'
The programmer Adrian Cummings is going to reactivate his old label 'Mutation Software' which in the 90ies he used to release and sell some games for the Amiga and PC. Now new editions of three former games are planned.
Tin Toy Adventure, Tommy Gun and Castle Kingdoms will be available again in spring - all of them in a box in a limited edition inclusive an autograph of the developer. For autumn a new platform game "Wiz" has been announced.
At the beginning of the year Cummings has released the assembler sourcecode of his game Cyberpunks originally published by Core Design as well as an archive with several graphics. Due to a hard disk failure the source code is slightly damaged at two points. Besides some informationen on level data are missing.

Working with adf images: GoADF! 2.2
The shareware programm (7 Euro) "GoADF!" can read and write ADF files and, among others, can mount them as virtual drives. New in version 2.2:
- a new Antivirus module - now GoADF! will detect any virus hidden in the image bootblock that is in the XVS library database.
- added full support for HFE files, now you can create images for your HxC Floppy Emulator.
- A lot of patches, improvements and optimizations, like when you create a new image from diskette, GoADF! now can use the name of the source volume as default filename and checks if the file extension '.adf' is present, if not it automatically append.

New demo version of Wings Remastered for AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS
In autumn of 2015 the rights holder Cinemaware Retro announced an Amiga port of its Wings remake "Wings Remastered". A first playable preview was released in November of 2015. As a condition for completing the game was to get sufficient preorders (55 Euro) - approximately about 300 preorders were placed. After releasing a pre-version of the game at the Amiga 32 in 2017, nothing has happened about Wings Remastered.
What about Cinemaware Retro at all? The appearances in the social media have not been maintained, several paid orders of the "Collector's Editions" of 'Defender of the Crown' and 'Rocket Ranger' have been only delivered after the process was outsourced to another shop.
Daniel 'Daytona675x' Müßener, who was originally in charge of writing the Amiga port, is occasionally working on the game. About a year ago a short status report was published. In a post on amigans.net he now has announced the release of new demo versions for AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS (x86).
The developer who according to his own statement has not been paid at all is asking for your patience. He is going to complete the game in any case even if there will be problems regarding the payment because he has invested so much work in the project. His motivation is low because the mount of work is much higher than expected and he is also working on other projects.

Shoot'em Up: Playable demo of Inviyya
In October 2018 preview videos of the shoot'em up game 'Inviyya' were available. At this time it was said that the engine was completed and the final release would be supposed to be available before Christmas 2018. Meanwhile a playable demo version has been released for the first time.
The "world premiere" of the game which the developer still classifies as "pre beta" took place in a live video stream on twitch.tv last Sunday. Inviyya was inspired by the classic game R-Type, requires an Amiga 500 and according to the developer "features 6 levels, couple of special weapons, 3 layer parallax scrolling and nice music and sfx". A commercial release will be available at Poly.play.

ZGloom - open source Gloom engine for Windows and Linux
ZGloom is a reimplementation of the Gloom engine for Windows and Linux which seems to be compatible to all the level data of the series. So far only a very early version is available and currently the program has to be compiled by yourself.

Free Gotek clone: OpenFlops emulates classic disk drives
OpenFlops is a hardware-based floppy emulator, similar to the Gotek drives. In comparision to them, OpenFlops is available under a free licence and therefore can be built by everybody. As firmware the free FlashFloppy is used which originally should be also used for Gotek.
Improvements of OpenFlops compared to Gotek:
- Can be installed on many different platforms
- Directly supports a wide range of image formats
- Flexible track layout for Raw Sector Images
- Extremely configurable
- Supports AutoSwap for games with a large number of disks
- Easily accessible pin headers for connection of a i2c display (either OLED or LCD), rotary encoder (including power)
- Built-in amplified speaker, or easily-accessible pin header for an external one
- USB connector can either be soldered on the board or connected to a pin header
- Connected Motor signal
- Emulates two drives at the same time (Not yet supported by the firmware, but it will come)
- Has additional 3.3V, 5V and GND power pins
- And hey, it's Open Hardware!
According to the developer "all of this comes in the same form factor (and mounting holes) as the board installed in the original Gotek, hence it can be easily installed in any shell or enclosure designed for it."

New Amiga emulator for MacOS in progress: vAmiga
Dirk Hoffmann's "vAmiga" is supposed to become a new, "user-friendly" Amiga emulator for MacOS computers which can emulate an A500, A1000 or A2000. According the developer the programming has been started 12 months ago - and the basic features of the emulator implemented yet. Now he is concentrating on improving the compatibility. So far official releases are not available but new alpha versions are regularly released on Github.

Hyperion and Cloanto allegedly close to finalizing settlement
In one of the two remaining lawsuits between - amongst others - Hyperion and Cloanto, all involved parties submitted a joint request last Friday, asking to extend a deadline set by the Judge for one week, since (quote) "Business representatives of Hyperion, Cloanto, and C-A Acquisitions, Inc. have been engaged in several days of intensive face-to-face settlement discussions in Europe geared toward a global resolution of all claims [...]. Hyperion, Cloanto, and C-A Acquisitions, Inc. are finalizing changes to a negotiated term sheet, which they anticipate will soon be executed."
The motion was signed by the judge the same day, so the parties involved now have until next Friday to finish the settlement negotiations they started last fall or ask for another extension. (cg)

Text/graphic dventure: The Curse of Rabenstein
The interactive graphic horror adventure game "The Curse of Rabenstein" was written by the same author as Hibernated. Originally it was created with the HTML-based adventure kit Adventuron and now ported to several retro platforms.
"Rabenstein" uses a two-word-parser and it is recommended creating own maps but you cannot come into a hopeless situation or die. A digital download still is not available, but a collector's edition is available on poly.play with the following content:

Free hardware: 1 MB Chip RAM expansion for Amiga 500+
On Github you can find documents for a 1 MB chip RAM expansion for the Amiga 500+ "using only a 40 pin (2x20) female 2.54mm connector. The remaining pins are for the RTC which is on-board the A500+, so they are unecessary for RAM expansion. This makes it possible to use a 40 pin connector, which is cheaper and easier to find."

Available documents from the lawsuits between Cloanto and Hyperion
Since the documents from the three lawsuits between Cloanto, the Amiga parties and C-A Acquisition Corporation on one side and Hyperion on the other side are not available free of charge, the few documents that made it onto the net are hosted on various places all over the web - depending on who acquired them and made them available to the public.

Amigakit offers "A1200" case badges
Amigakit offers "A1200" case budges. For 2,23 Euro you get a case badge which is self-adhesive in colours of black/silver, silver or white/silver.
If you have a closer look at the badge you can see a superscript, encircled "R" meaning a trademark. Actually the British merchant did register (among others) the "A1200" two years ago.

Amigakit: Status update on A1222 Early Adopter Programme (update)
In two entries in two different forums, Matthew Leaman from Amigakit has provided some information on the lastest status of the A1222 Early Adopter Programme. Contrary to the original announcements and to the wording still used on a1222plus.com, this first batch is not limited to 100 boards: "Anyone who orders the AAA bundle will be guaranteed an option to buy the A1222 Plus Early Adopter board. If we have to make a few more boards to ensure every AAA bundle customer has opportunity, then so be it."
And on amigaworld.net he stated: "We are currently on 97x AAA Bundles sold so sales will be closing soon." Additionally the website of the project was completed by a FAQ which are supposed to clarify some open questions. The second option which was originally offered - a binding order by advance payment of 20% - Leaman or the FAQ did not mention.
Hint of the editors: In press release at Christmas it was said that the "Early Adopter boards are expected to ship around the end of the first quarter of 2020". Now the FAQ says that "the main batch will be put into production in Quarter 2/2020".

Status update on SimpleMail
Traditionally at Christmas there has been always the usual update of the mail programme SimpleMail but at Christmas 2019 it was missing. We hasve asked the two original developers Hynek Schlawack and Sebastian Bauer.
Schlawack stated that for years he has not been involved neither in SimpleMail nor in the Amiga market at all. According to his website his current "day job is writing software that keeps a hosting provider and domain registrar running". In his spare time he has "been involved with open source software in general and the Python community in particular for a long while and I’m a proud fellow of the Python Software Foundation."
Sebastian Bauer answered that he still is working on SimpleMail. Each day he would do some minor coding but currently not Amiga specific. Furthermore he said that the changes made on the Amiga code would have not justified a Christmas update. He does not have the time to add major changes but he is going to use SimpleMail for himself which benefits the Amiga version.
Finally he said that currently he is the only developer working on the code but nobody has to fear that the development will stop. It is only proceeding at a snail's pace so he cannot tell when the next update will be released.

Video preview: Arcade game Jump!
Jump! is an Amiga port of the game Yoomp! which was released 2007 for Atari's 8-Bit computer. The Amiga port is supposed to be sold in the third quarter of 2020 by RGCD. Now a teaser video obviously shows the AGA version of the engine. The game can be also played on an Amiga 500 but then with reduced colours and a smaller tunnel. An record from December shows a previous engine which might look like the coming ECS version.

MorphOS: TopTasks Screenbar plugin 1.3
TopTasks.sbar is a screenbar plugin for MorphOS showing the task which at that very moment uses most of the cpu time.
The developer wrote: "When clicked it opens a window showing the top 10 tasks currently hogging all your precious CPU time. Furthermode it can display a history of the top tasks of the last 100 seconds."
New in this version:
- Added a second list that displays the top tasks of the last 100 seconds in the PopWindow.
- Now also displays the time a task has hogged the cpu in total in an extra column in the Top10 list.
- The CPU load percentage of displayed Top10 tasks is now shown in the list title of the column.
- Added help bubbles to all prefs gadgets.

Interview announcement: Livestream with Trevor Dickinson, Saturday afternoon
On Friday and Saturday in Athlone (Ireland) the Amiga meeting "Amiga Ireland" will take place, which also Trevor Dickinson from A-EON will attend. Game Construction Kit: RedPill 0.7.8
RedPill is a Game Construction Kit written in AmiBlitz2, which can help developing games of diverse genres - published videos show versions of Pacman and Mirror. RedPill is compatible to AGA and ECS, the "player" requires 1 MB Chip as well as some Fast RAM.
Changes of version 0.7.8:
- All new games will be created in the projects folder. When starting the editor the main things you can do are creating a new project or loading an old one.
- Examples folder has been removed.
- Fast loading options have been added to access quickly your last loaded games.
- Mulipalette example has been added, it shows how to use two different 16 colors tilesets and 16 color sprites in a 32 color game.
- Side X behaviour has been refactored, behaviour could be slightly different.
- Anim Comp condition trigger has been implemented, it can replace Anim is and Anim is not triggers.
- Anims with loop now allow a Next Anim to be filled, when the looping anim is stopped it will play the specified next animation.
- Level being edited can now be changed in the Edit Level screen.
- If foreground and background colors chosen in the dialogs are the same the text color chosen will change.
- An issue when going back from Tiles screen has been fixed.
- Issue with Text Dialogs rendering has been fixed.
