Emulator: Preview to WinUAE 4.0.0
As usual the developers of the well-known Amiga emulator WinUAE present a short preview to the changes of the next version. WinUAE 4.0.0 is supposed to be released in May or June and will provide the following features:

New features:
  • Beam Racing Lagless VSync which reduces input latency to sub-5ms. Replaces old Low Latency VSync.
  • Virtual multi monitor support. Each virtual Amiga video output connector (Video port graphics adapter, RTG boards) can be “connected” to separate WinUAE window, emulating real hardware being connected to more than one physical monitor.
  • Debugger supports running Amiga executables from shell, adds symbol and gcc stab debugging data support, loads executable to special reserved address space which enables detection of any illegal accesses byte accurately and more.
  • Overlay graphics led (power, floppy etc) support.
  • Close confirmation option added to misc panel.
  • Default WASAPI audio device automatically follows Windows default audio device.
  • Directory harddrives now use uaehf.device as a fake device driver (replacing non-existing uae.device), for example programs that query extra information (like SCSI Inquiry data) now get valid data.
  • Directory filesystem harddrive fake block size dynamic adjustment now starts from smaller disk size, workaround for WB free space calculation overflow when partition is larger than 16G.
  • Disk swapper config file data is restored from statefile.
3.6.x bug fix:
  • WD33C93 based SCSI controllers hung the system if controller didn’t have any connected SCSI devices.

Older bugs fixed:

  • On the fly switching from non-cycle exact to cycle-exact mode stopped emulation in certain situations.
  • Fixed E-Matrix accelerator board RAM selection.
  • If CD was changed and system was reset during change delay, drive become empty and new CD was never inserted. Mainly affected CD32 and CDTV.
  • Code analyzer warnings fixed (uninitialized variables, buffer size checks etc..)
New emulated expansions:
  • C-Ltd Kronos
  • CSA Magnum 40
  • DCE Typhoon MK2
  • GVP A1230 Series II
  • Hardital TQM
  • MacroSystem Falcon 040
  • Xetec FastTrak

MorphOS Software Development Kit 3.12
Press release: The MorphOS Development Team would like to announce the immediate availability of the April 2018 release of the MorphOS SDK 3.12. The new SDK introduces support for Objective-C MUI application development, adds a Clang compiler, GCC 6.4.0, updated GCC5 as well as a GIT suite, many updated libraries and components.

Please note that, at this point, the Objective-C support should be considered a demo - both ABI and API are not yet 100% stable. MorphOS 3.12 may require your applications to be recompiled to work.

The new SDK requires at least 2GB of free disk space to install and is available for download in our files section. (snx) (Translation: dr)

WHDLoad: Looking for help for verifying old bugs
The bugtracker of the WHDLoad team contains more than 1500 bugs which are partly very old. Bert Jahn, the author of WHDLoad, suspects that many of the bugs can be refered to e.g. the usage of cracked versions or buggy hardware. Other bugs have not sufficient details to be able to reconstruct the bug.

Jahn is going to reduce the amount of open bug report as far as possible. Therefore he asks users of WHDLoad to check some of the open bugs listed in the database and to give a feedback if they could be reconstructed. In this way the team can recognize which bugs have priority. Very old bugs which nobody could reconstruct will be deleted.

If users should find new problems with WHDLoad versions of games then they are asked to post them in the bugtracker instead of writing them in the forum. (cg) (Translation: dr)
