VmwAROS 0.7 Beta - now with live-CD
VmwAROS is an AROS-distribution which includes some preinstalled applications like FryingPan, SimpleMail or an early preview of the web browser Traveller. Additionally to the well-knwon version which is based on the emulator VMware there is now also a live CD which is called "VmwAROS LIVE!" with which you can boot AROS directly from CD - without starting a virtual machine.

AROS-Distribution: WinAros 04/2008
With WinAros it is possible to test the operating system AROS under Windows and to check out programs which were developed e.g. with AmiDevCpp (screenshot).
The virtual harddrive of the latest version includes two partitions: A 100 MB FFS-partition with the boot-files and a 480 MB SFS-partition with the AROS installation. The new version of WinAROS includes a C/C++-compiler as well as Murks!-IDE. You can install further apllications with WinArosStart.
WinAROS is setup with a Windows-like installation program. A deinstallation program is also part of the distribution.

Script: Final version of Convert2CDXL
The script Convert2CDXL, in its final version which is available from now on, handles the conversion to PPM images totally automatically with the integration of ffmpeg. In addition, the PPM images can be scaled to half, quarter or eighth of their size.
Further improvements are the manual in AmigaGuide format and an enhancement of the XL start script. An optimization was carried out for processors from 68020 up to 68060. (snx) (Translation: cad)

AmigaOS 4: Cinnamon Writer 0.52 (beta)
Press release Cinnamon Writer (CW) is a WYSIWYG writer application under development. The main objective of CW is to be a small efficient word processor with the most often used features seen in other professional word processors (screenshot).
Version 0.5 is much faster than the previous version. It offers most of the basic and most often used functionality expected from a word processor (selectable fonts, font size, text alignment, line space, text color, highlight color, bullets, underline, super/subscript etc).
The documents are saved in RTF format that ensures maximum compatibility with other word processors. At a later stage of development, other save formats will be available.
The icons set used in CW is the work of Martin 'Mason' Merz. (Thank you Martin!)
I am also announcing the coming opening of Cinnamon Projects.
The purpose of Cinnamon Projects is to speed up the development of CW by utilizing some the very gifted coders on the amiga scene.
Since I have come to the realization that writing an application like this single handedly, is near impossible, I have decided to use a larger part of the donations I have received and hopefully will continue to receive, to fund coders who are interested in contributing to the application.
A new section will open on desler.be in the near future where different projects are announced together with the amount of money a coder will receive upon completion of the project.
An example of a project could be a printer class that will handle all the Amiga specific calls required to add printing capability to CW. The prize given upon completion will range from 50-150 euro depending on the scale of the project and of course, the amount of donations I have received.
I haven’t been able to test this software on a classic AOS4 setup, so please let me know if a specific setup is not working. The stability of this version has not been throughout tested and the undo/redo feature is currently not available. Therefore save often and save different versions of your document when using CW!
I really hope that you will find this application useful. Please don’t hesitate to report bugs/crashes/ideas and perhaps give donations/beer on desler.be. Finally... Donate. Scientific case studies have shown that people who donated experienced 33.4% fewer crashes. ;-) (snx)

Video: "Still Alive" - Animated Amiga Tribute by Eric Schwartz
Under the title link Eric Schwartz has created a cartoon to the song "Still Alive" which is included in the computer game Portal. In his video now a female Amiga sings this song.
The video was created on a Amiga 4000T with the help of the programs Photon Cel Animator, Lightwave 3D 5, Disney Animation Studio, Anim Workshop, Deluxe Paint 4 and Personal Paint.

Developer-Tool: RLEpack 1.3
With RLEpack developers can compress/decompress any kind of binary data with the help of the RLE-algorythm (well-known from graphic formats such as BMP). In version 1.3 one bug was fixed. Additionally there is now also a AmigaOS 3-version.

SCACOM.aktuell is free PDF-magazin which is about the home computers made by Commodore. For the first time the current issue 5 includes a disk (ADF-image). The English version of the magazine is called Englisch.SCACOM. Issue 2 is available.
All magazines are available as JPEG-files on the website. The whole website was rewored and includes now e.g. a virtual Commodore museum and the several sections can be accessed over seperate URLs.

AmigaOS 4: Vector drawing program MindSpace 1.11d
MindSpace is a vector drawing program with which you can create flowcharts, UML-diagrams, mindmaps or Vector pictures (screenshot).
The latest version of the program imports files which were created by the OpenOffice.org-component "Draw". An updated demo version is available, the full version for registered users will follow.
The successor Mindspace 2 is in progress. It will be also published for AmigaOS 3.5+.

AmigaOS 4: Correction of spelling mySpellChecker
Press release For the tenth anniversary there is a new software for download developed by Meicky-Soft:
mySpellChecker is a spell-checker for AmigaOS 4 which uese the aspell-library
from the Linux sector. We would like to thank Edgar Schwan for his port to the Amiga.
The program includes catalogs for a German, English and Italian user-interface as well as a German short documentation.
The English documentation will follow in the next days.
A German dictionary is included, many further languages are available in OS4Depot.

Amiga Future: New downloads online
Press release: We are about to extend our download section of the Amiga Future Homepage. In 2008 we will double the number of full versions.
We also want to make avaiable PD-software. About 10 GB of additional downloads we want to make available. Since a few days the first 250 disks of the PD-game-set "Spielekiste" are available on the Amiga Future Homepage as DMS-files. Further disks of the set will follow. (We are looking for somebody who has got the disks 701-xxx!!!)
The publishing of the PD-software as well as of the full version take us money. But we hope we can win some new readers for the Amiga Future Print Magazine.
Issue 71 was published a few weeks ago and is available as German and English magazine in our Onlineshop. In 2008 the Amiga Future celebrates its
tenth anniversary. Therefore we have a special offer for you on the start page of our shop.

AmigaOS 4: Flashback clone "Bermuda Syndrome"
Bermuda Syndrome is a commercial action adventure which was published in 1995 by Century Interactive and reminds on the Amiga clasic Flashback (screenshot).
In 2007 Gregory Montoir has published an open source reimplementation of the Bermuda Syndrome-engine which plays the data of the commercial game (demo or full version). The AmigaOS 4-port was created by "Raziel".

Web-Browser: OWB 1.1 for AmigaOS 3
Jörg Strohmayer has ported the Origyn Web Browser to AmigaOS 3. This is not a port of the AmigaOS 4-version of OWB but a compilation of the normal SDL-based version of the program.
The OS3-port does not have such improvements like scrollbars or the toolbar. According to the author the program is "considerably slower".
OWB requires AmigaOS 3, an installed GeekGadgets environment as well as a graphic board (if available). Additionally a lot of free memory and a m68k-CPU with 1 Ghz should be there.

ACube Systems: New U-Boot for Sam440ep
Press release Bassano del Grappa (Italy) 30th March 2008: ACube Systems announces the immediate availability of a new version of U-Boot for the Sam440ep board.
The update, for all the boards with U-Boot version of 15th December 2007 or previous, is fundamental for a correct working of the board, contains an important fix for USB PCI controller setup and is mandatory to be able update to the next version 1.3.1 of U-Boot. (snx)

MorphOS: Privoxy-port / Screenshots of VLC
Under the title link Rupert Hausberger has published a MorphOS-port of Privoxy. It is a webproxy with filter possibilities for saving the privacy, filtering of website contents, for the management of HTTP-cookies and much more.
Additionally there are first screenshots of the port of the VLC-media player which is in development.

Amiga Resistance take over the Big Book of Amiga Hardware
Press notification The Big Book of Amiga Hardware (BBoAH) will be now powered by the Amiga-Resistance-Team, primary established by Ian Chapman, from Mario Misic, how will invested his time and power in the change of the BBoAH into a Wiki-Form in the future.
Also should by the original BBoAH are available on www.bboah.de. The Amiga-Resistance-Team has performed several minor updates and some new features, which makes the BBoAH more noch attractive and user friendly.
A first step to change the design into the Amiga-Resistance-Design is already done. Please send all mails now to the on the mainpage given Email-adress.
