MorphOS: SimpleView 1.8
Tom 'Amigaharry' Duin has released version 1.8 of his picture viewer SimpleView for Morphos under the title link.

The update offers a real simple refresh window, with 'Q' or the ESC button the program can be closed. SimpleView is completely written in native powerpc assembler code. (snx) (Translation: tz)

Open Aladdin 4D: Status Update
As Nova Design has offered to provide the source code as well as the full documentation and trademarks of the 3D bundle Aladdin 4D to the public (amiga-news.de reported), Nate Downes from the Open Aladdin 4D-Initiative has announced under the title link, that only 3400 US dollar are still necessary for the required quantity. MorphOS: Ariadne II and Realtek 8029 driver for G-Rex
Frank Mariak released an Ariadne II driver as well as a Realtek 8029-PCI-Sana2 driver for the Amiga PCI solution G-Rex for the PowerUp version of MorphOS.

PDF-Bücher: Pegasos Book 2.2 / Efika Book 0.4 (English)
Geoffrey Charras pdf book around the Pegasos-platform, the "Pegasos Book", is available as version 2.2. An article for the installation of the Linux-distribution Fedora Core 6 was added as well as small supplements.

The latter refer to the items UAE under MorphOS, Linux in common, the installation of the Linux-distribution Ubuntu Edgy as well as the IVTV-drivers for Gentoo.

The C Book: Amended version now part of Cubic IDE
Press release An amended version of the freely available "The C Book" (amiga-news.de reported), originally published by Addison Wesley, is now available as e-book for Amiga developers. This revision is released as part of Cubic IDE and puts a rich source of information at programmers' fingertips. The book covers C90 and C99 on about 100 pages.

The book is integrated into Cubic, bookmarks below source codes provide direct access to chapters and topics: Screenshot.

This book and the Cubic IDE development environment are a great way for you to learn C: You can browse through chapters and try out contained example code directly in Cubic. The small examples in the book can be compiled with the free version of Cubic. The order of topics in this book is similar to the order that is taught in a typical C course.

"The C Book" is contained in the C/C++ package. You should have the latest free or commercial version of Cubic installed before you download this: Download.

The Learning Edition: To promote this release, the Learning Edition of Cubic (which is a package compiled specifically to learn C) is available at a reduced price of 35 EUR, instead of 50 EUR. Marian Guc has released AutoDocReader 1.4 for AmigaOS 3.x, MorphOS and now also AROS. Changes:
  • New history navigation window
  • New CLI option (now you can open request function in selected files)

  • New translation (Russian)
  • Bugfixes

Self-made project: Photos of an A500 extended to an A2000
Already two years ago Daniele Gratteri extended his Amiga 500 with a 68040 turbo card which was originally meant for an Amiga 2000 as well as with Zorro II-slots.

According to him this project was successful. You can find photos as well as English explanations on the homepage of Daniele Gratteri. As soon as he has more time he wants to use a video-slot, too. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Development environment: SimpleCat plugin for Cubic IDE
SimpleCat is a program for maintaining catalogs (tanslations). It offers more features than the cat program of the AmigaOS and MorphOS SDK: Powerful import and export functions, validity checks and a graphical user interface make the life of developers easier and the program first choice for translators.

The add-on for Cubic (Screenshot) integrates SimpleCat into the interface of the development environment, with syntax highlighting for translations and clickable log files. SimpleCat was developed by Guido Mersman and the latest version is included with kind permission of the author.

Event: Finnish Amiga Users Group's Christmas Meeting
Finnish Amiga Users Group hold their Christmas meeting in Oulu, Finland on Saturday, November 25th. Admittance is free of charge and refreshments will be available.

Besides game competititions, demos as well as AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS will be shown. Computers on display include several Amigas, AmigaOne, Pegasos I and Pegasos II. (snx)

JavaScript-Interpreter: SpiderMonkey ported
Tim Johnson has published a still limited port of SpiderMonkey which is the JavaScript-interpreter of Mozilla. The program is started from the command line and requires an AmigaOS 2.04 as well as a 68020-processor with FPU.
