FastCache040+ 1.8
FastCache040+ is a patch for the 68040 and 68060.library, which replaces the functions CachePreDMA() and CachePostDMA(). The replacement functions are noticeably shorter and promise a more efficient management of the Copyback cache for the DMA. "While every system
will have some CPU performance loss under DMA conditions, the new functions keep this performance loss to a bare minimum."
A MMU is required. Tools like GigaMEM or VMM which provide virtual memory must not be used. And as the author also wrote: "Do NOT use this patch with any
code which uses the MMU to write protect or remap modified data structures!...Remapping a mirror image of the Kickstart ROM with the MMU is OK!"
Users of a Phase5-68060.library first should run FixMapP5 before starting the patch.
