Game Construction Kit: Scorpion Engine
The "Scorpion Engine" developed by Erik 'earok' Hogan is supposed to simplify developing games, which run on an A500 with a screen refresh rate of 50 Hz. If a game requires more power then the rate can be set to 25 Hz. The editor runs under Windows. Graphics are imported as PNG files, for creating levels the editor Tiled is used. For sounds, music and animations the Amiga formats (mod, 8svx, anim5) are used.

For managing the game logic (dialogues, items, branches) a script language is used (a subset of Ink), which is compiled into bytecode and executed by a virtual machine. The Scorpion Engine can also import Backbone projects. The developer presents a screenshot of a Scorpion version of the commercial Backbone game "Tales of Gorluth 3".

Status updates and videos about the project you can find on the official website on Facebook. The editor itself is proprietary but some of the test games which have been already released are open source. Therefore all downloads including the editor are offered on Github. Hogan asks you to use that bugtracker for reporting bugs. (cg) (Translation: dr)
