Emu68 will be expanded to include PowerPC emulation
Michal Schulz explains in a blog entry that he is constantly being asked whether his ARM-based M68K processor emulator "Emu68" could be expanded to include the ability to execute native ARM code. He says he does not like this idea because it would contribute to fragmentation within the Amiga scene due to the imminent emergence of Emu68-specific programs, and because there is no such thing as a single ARM architecture anyway. Instead, he has decided to use the second unused core in an ARM processor to emulate a PowerPC processor. Since both processors are RISC architectures and modern compilers optimize code very well for the many registers of a Power processor, the emulated processor is surprisingly fast.

So far, all integer instructions of the PPC instruction set have been implemented, but floating point calculations are still missing. The virtual PowerPC is addressed via a compatible replica of the powerpc.library, as already used in PowerPC cards for PCI bus boards. Schulz stresses that the addition of PowerPC emulation will not slow down the existing M68k emulation in any way. (cg)
