Overview: Bulletin board system of demo scene
Demozoo is a website dedicated to collecting and organizing the history of the demoscene. As the maintainers now announced, it was already started some time ago to catalog Bulletin board systems (BBS) with scene reference. The result is a list of over 7500 mailboxes, complete with sysops, affiliated groups, BBS intros, text ads, etc. The list continues to be updated.

These BBS can be browsed through an alphabetical list or searched by tags. In addition, you can display the locations on a world map. (dr)

RESHOOT PROXIMA 3: Preview of Stage 1
In August last year we reported about a new preview video of the third part of the shoot'em up series RESHOOT PROXIMA 3, which is currently in development. Shortly before Christmas 'AmigaBill' invited the three developers of the game Richard Löwenstein, Martin Ahman and Kevin Saunders to its Twitch channel to present the prototype of Stage 1. This demonstration is also available as a Video (game start from minute 33).

As Richard Löwenstein explained to us when asked, a prototype of the first stage was shown, "still far from complete. There are quite a few attack waves missing, the boss is conspicuous by its complete absence." Likewise, exciting attack patterns, boss designs and fine-tuning of the music would still have to be tackled. On the other hand, 90% of the graphics for all five stages have been drawn, and the visual designs for all stages have been defined and technically implemented. (dr)

Retro gaming: Ziggurat Interactive acquires the rights to Rainbow-Arts games
Five years ago, Julian Eggebrecht, founder of the legendary development studio Factor 5, explained in interviews (German) that the games company had not only secured the name of the former German publisher Rainbow Arts from the THQ bankruptcy estate, but also the rights to the titles published by the Gütersloh-based company in the 1980s and 1990s. A short time later, Factor 5, which also went bankrupt in 2009, was re-established in Germany as a GmbH.

The retro publisher Ziggurat Interactive now announces in a press release that they have acquired the rights to over 80 titles from the Rainbow Arts catalog. Rendering Ranger R2 (SNES), Logical, Lollypop, X-Out, and M.U.D.S. are listed as examples. However, the best-known title published in Gütersloh is not mentioned: the "Turrican" series Factor 5 had still marketed in the fall of 2020 as limited new editions. (cg)

The Iranian Siamak Habibzadeh has published a conversion manual at Github, which allows the operation of a 5.25 inch floppy from TEAC on the Amiga. The drive, originally intended for the PC, then stores 880 kilobytes in Amiga format on a 5.25-inch floppy. (cg)

Arcade ports: Demo version of 'Wonderboy', preview video of 'Final Fight'
Wonderboy is to be an Amiga conversion of Sega's arcade classic of the same name. The Amiga version is created with the help of the Scorpion Engine. A now available first demo version, which is called alpha by the developer, runs smoothly from an Amiga 1200. Eine für den A500 optimierte Variante soll in Kürze folgen.

There is already an Amiga implementation of Capcom's Acrade machine Final Fight from 1991, but it is not very popular with friends of the beat-em-up genre. A fan of the automaton is now working on a new implementation developed in machine language, which currently requires a 68020 processor. A video shows the current status, one level and two different opponents have been implemented so far. (cg)
