Hollywood: APK Compiler 3.0 released
Press release: Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are proud to present a brand-new version of one of the most popular add-ons for Hollywood 8.0: The Hollywood APK Compiler 3.0. This program converts Hollywood applets into stand-alone APK packages that can then be published on the Google Play Store where they will be available to billions of Android users. Once the Hollywood APK Compiler has been set up, the conversion of a Hollywood applet into an APK file takes only a few seconds.
Version 3.0 is a major update which adds support for Hollywood 8.0 as well as for RapaGUI 2.0. It also introduces a new build caching mechanism which greatly reduces build times. It is also possible to link whole directories of assets to the APK now and the plugin linker is much more efficient too. Furthermore, the Hollywood APK Compiler is now available in a Home Edition and a Professional Edition. The Professional Edition of the Hollywood APK Compiler removes the "Powered by Hollywood" splash screen, it allows you to execute custom Java code and it also allows the customization of the Hollywood APK Compiler's Android manifest and Gradle build scripts. WHDLoad: Version 18.4 released / New installers until 02.03.2019
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. Version 18.4 provides many changes, bug fixes and new features, e.g. the splash window can also be closed now pressing the fire button on the joystick in port #1 and a new special quit key has been added which quits by pressing Reverse, Forward and Play together on a joypad.
- fix: option NoReq/S has also effect now for errors occuring in conjunction with option Data/K (issue #3690)
- fix: patch list command PL_GA fixed in the WHDLoadCD32
- fix: fixed wrong results with resload_ExNext introduced in 18.3, e.g. game Ork Attack (Psygore)
- fix: in version 18.3 a CMD_STOP/FLUSH/START of input.device was added, this seems to cause problems on some configurations, to avoid them the code has been removed again
- chg: cpu cache handling in kickemu changed, there are new options CACHECHIP and CACHECHIPDATA, the behavior of option CACHE has been reverted to pre HDLoad release 18.3, with option CACHE all caches are enabled for expansion memory if MMU is used, with option CACHECHIP the instruction cache will be enabled for all memory independent from from WHDLoad's MMU usage, option CACHECHIPDATA will enable data and instruction cache for all memory, if no CACHE* option is set the cache are disabled now, in previous releases the cache setup wasn't modified which resulted in WHDLoad's default cache setup where inst/data cache is enabled for ExpMem/Slave if MMU used - similar to option option CACHE where additionally the 68060 stuff is enabled (branch cache, superscalar, write buffer), please consult also the provided kick.readme
- chg: kickemu kick13.s has been modified to work with data cache in chip memory, gfx.Text now uses the cpu to clear the temporary buffer instead the blitter
- new: macro PL_STR0 added to the patch list commands which will write the given string plus a 0-byte to the destination
- new: italian keymap added to the docs (thanks Luca Longone)
- fix: kickfs: with IOCACHE to order of writes is now preserved, in previous releases it was not, which could cause switches to the operation system on resload_SaveFileOffset because offsets outside the current filesize
- chg: if SplashDelay=0 and ConfigDelay>0 the splash window is opened if there is a config (Juuso Salmijärvi)
- chg: the local option Config now overwrites a config string contained in the Slave
- chg: option Preload/S can also be used in the global configuration file
- fix: using Snoop on the 68030 the fire button bits in cia.ddra can be set to output mode now (reading joypad), previously this was only allowed on 68040/60 (StingRay)
- chg: BaseMemory is now allocated in possible three parts to reduce memory requirements if higher areas of chip memory are already used by the system
- new: a segtracker modul has been added to all kickemu variants, equal to the known utility SegTracker by Michael Sinz this will track all loaded executables, WHDLoad will use this information to display name and offset in all error messages, this will make it easier to locate causes for malfunctions in
kickemu installed programs
- chg: the calculation of exec.ChkSum in kick12/13.s has been fixed
- fix: if SegTracker was used and no matching segment was found WHDLoad displayed sometimes some garbage, this has been fixed
- chg: all the sources provided by JOTD has been updated to the latest level, nonvolatile.s has been removed because the sources are now using the nonvolatile.s provided by WHDLoad, thanks to JOTD
- chg: WHDLoadGCI allows now opening a new memory window from the address under the cursor in a memory window, a bug in partial extraction of Base/ExpMemory has been fixed
- chg: a patch has been added to all kickemus to disable the key repeat of the input.device after a switch to the operating system, this should avoid problems on first time save operations triggered by a keypress
- new: the splash window can also be closed now pressing the fire button on the joystick in port #1
- new: a new special quit key has been added which quits by pressing Reverse, Forward and Play together on a joypad
- chg: WHDLoad no longer tries to open the audio.device, there was not much benefit from it and to leave it avoids any requesters if already open by another application
Additionally, the following installers have been added until March 2nd, 2019:
- 2019-03-01 improved: Bubble Bobble (Firebird) support for 2-button joystick and joypad added (Info)
- 2019-02-25 improved: Superfrog (Team 17) joypad control added, floppy version chip memory reduced (Info)

Mini games: Dino Run and MeMo
Two little games have been released: "Dino Run" is a clone of a mini game contained in Google Chrome in which you make a dinosaur jump over barriers using the SPACE key. Writing this BlitzBasic game the author was going to get used to program sprites on the Amiga. The game MeMo is inspired by the card game "Memory".

Pseudo 3D: Space shooter Star (Dust) Wars 1.3D
"Star (Dust) Wars" (video) is a space shooter similar to classic pseudo 3D shooter which should run on all Amiga models equipped with at least one megabyte ChipRAM and Kickstart 1.3.
The archive contains four different versions of the game: Additional to the version with bitmap graphics there is one with monochromatic or colourful vectors. And if you have appropriate 3D glasses you can even play the game with the anaglyph 3D effect.

3D print: Several printed replacement parts for Amiga computers
On 3dpintserviceshop.com several replacement parts for Amiga computers are offered, e.g. the front-cover of a Commodore-1084s monitor, "Trapdoors" for the A1200 or a power button of an A4000. The parts are printed by the Dutch shop using a 3d printer and are available for 5 to 20 Euro.

Picasso96: Cloanto replies Jens Schönfeld's allegations
For years (German), first Thomas Richter - who is now working on Jens Schönfeld's commercial P96 distribution - and later Jens Schönfeld himself have criticized Cloanto's distribution of Picasso96 as part of Amiga Forever. In a 2001 press release, Cloanto had announced that the company licenced P96 from its original authors Alexander Kneer and Tobias Abt for use in the Amiga Forever distribution.
Jens Schönfeld denies that, recently he attacked the Italian company in a press release and claimed (German) in a discussion on amiga-news.de that he had only seen "blackened account statements and vague e-mails" as evidence for the alleged licence to Cloanto.
Apparently, Cloanto now released these exact emails and a transfer receipt to the public. The old Picasso announcement on the company's website has been supplemented with a small note and a PDF document.
The PDF contains two e-mails which are apparently part of a longer conversation between Mike Battilana (Cloanto) and Alexander Kneer (Picasso96).
Basically, Battilana is having Kneer confirm various details of the license agreement. The core points the two are addressing, seem to be the following items:
- Battilana suggests the following copyright notice: "Amiga Forever includes a licensed copy of the Picasso96 software. This means that no additional shareware fees are due for this copy of the software, which is licensed for use only in the Amiga Forever emulation environment, and without upgrade privileges." Alexander Kneers reply to the suggestion: "Perfect."
- Battilana asks: "Do you think we need a contract, or is our exchange of email sufficient? For me it is enough, if you confirm so." Kneer answers: "Sufficient for me."
- Battilana then summarizes older agreements that are not part of the mails included in the PDF: "The fee for using Picasso96 in Amiga Forever as agreed, in place of the current shareware status, would be DM 2000.00 (in addition to past shareware contributions). If you could confirm that the data I used one year ago is still OK, I will wire it there." Kneer: "Nothing has changed. ;-)"
The last item in the PDF is a scan of a transfer receipt: On December 4th, 2001 Cloanto Italia SRL transfered 1022,58 Euro (i.e. 2000 DM) to an account at the Sparkasse Ulm. Recipient: Abt&Kneer GbR. Reason for payment: "Picasso96".
Approached by amiga-news.de, Jens Schönfeld did not question the authenticity of the mails published by Cloanto, but states that these mails have been "taken out ouf context" to make people "draw wrong conclusions". He didn't want to elaborate any further, stating that both parties' lawyers were currently working on this issue. (cg)

Gotek firmware: FlashFloppy 1.0

Action-RPG: Playable demo of Tales of Gorluth III
For the third and last part of Patrick Nevian's action RPG "Tales of Gorluth" announced for for the end of this year a first playable preview is available. The author has pointed out that it is a very early version and a lot of details have to be solved, e.g. dialogues which can be skipped and further animations. But the demo would give a very good impression of start of the game.

Shoot'em up: Reshoot R website online
The shoot'em up game Reshoot R is expecxted to be available during the second quarter of 2019. Almost one year agao, APC&TCP took over the distribution of this game and its predecessor. Below you can read the press release for the official Reshoot R website that is online at the title link now.

AROS: Distribution Icaros Desktop 2.2.6
Paolo Besser has released an update of his AROS-distribution Icaros Desktop. In version 2.2.6 the muimaster.library written by Neil Cefferkey was added providing "support for ESC-A method of embedding images into strings, which basically allows rapagui-based applications to show images into buttons and other GUI gadgets". Besides, now it is possible to record debug logs and updates of DCRaw, VIM and AmiCast Player were added as well as the ZuPaPlayer. Adding EasyRPG Player, "a great interpreter a la ScummVM for games created with RPG Maker 2000 and 2003" is supposed to be one of the highlights of the new version. Finally, for players the games "Kidnapping of Princess Pri" and "Grimps: Squeaking of the Dead" are now included.

Personal Paint: Update to version 7.3c for registered customers (Update)
For registered customers of version 7.3 of the 8-bit paint program Personal Paint, originally developed by Cloanto, A-EON Technology will release a free update named PPaint 7.3c for AmigaOS 3.x and AmigaOS 4 soon, written by Andy Broad.
Changes:
- Add polygon mode to grab brush tool
- Update Itialian translation (contributed Luca Longone)
- Fix long filename support
- Fix buffer overflows in brush scaling
- Fix buffer overflows in brush shearing
- Extend internal brush structure to include shear status values so that when shearing brush twice in a row is starts from the current sheared state and not the original brush state
- Fix incorrect calculation of visble files in builtin requester resulting in an occasional corrupt looking filename at end of file list. (personal_req.library 1.6)

Legal dispute: Amiga Inc. transferred rights to company of Mike Battilana
In the legal dispute between the Amiga and parties and Cloanto, recently Hyperion doubted the legality of Cloanto's involvement. According to the latest court documents (PDF file), on February 1, 2019, Amiga Inc. transferred "all worldwide rights, title and interest in and to all AMIGA-formative trademarks, including but not limited to the "Exclusive Licensed Marks" as that term is defined
in the 2009 "Settlement Agreement", and the "Boing Ball" design mark" to C-A Acquisition Corporation" which with its only director Mike Battilana has the same owner as Cloanto.
For several years Cloanto has collected the heritage of Commodore (amiga-news.de reported) in order - according to Cloanto - to preserve it. To the the "Exclusive Licensed Marks" also belong the trademarks "AmigaOS", "Amiga OS", "AmigaOne" and "Amiga One".
Therefore Cloanto will apply for admission of C-A Acquisition Corporation as another plaintiff. Besides, Cloanto as sucessor of Amiga Inc. again reasserted to have the right to sue Hyperion for breach of contract. The former transfer of the copyrights from Amiga Inc. to Cloanto again is documented in court (PDF files: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
Furthermore Hyperion tries to prove some of the claims of the Amiga parties and Cloanto as void because they interfere into other countries' jurisdiction. This is countered by the statement that Hyperion explicitly got the worldwide license rights and therefore is internationally bound to respect the settlement agreement - which would have been broken by the attempt to register Amiga related trademarks in other countries.

AROS: Current status of Michal Schulz' Raspberry-Pi port / 68k-JIT-Emulator

Before he will solve some problems with USB, he is going to write a 68k-JIT emulator for ARM processors. Although, he thinks, there are plenty of them, "they are either slow interpreters written eons ago as a proof of concept, or GPL licensed".

AmigaOS 4: ignition beta version 6 available

For more than ten years ignition has been open source and this is the fifth version of the AmigaOS-4-port within five years. ignitionOS4 was constantly improved which was only possible thanks to the feedback of the users. I also want to thank all the beta testers and other people who supported me!
In beta version 6 not only bugs were fixed but also some minor features added, e.g. new functions and implementing missing features. Changes:
- New functions
- Scrolling with the mouse-wheel is supported both vertically, and horizontally
- Reworked and fixed dialogs
- Fixed and expanded database functions
- Internal arexx-scripts can now be saved and reloaded
- Reworked and fixed csv.io modul
- Fixed gtdrag.library
- Over twenty other errors are fixed
- Reworked manuals in German and English
This does not look like much work but is another big step of improving igntionOS4. You can get more information at the OS4Welt ignition forum - there you can also give me feedback. But of course you can also send me a mail.

Elfie - The Unicorn: Easy-peasy edition
Christian Giesing's "Elfie - The Unicorn" is a jump-and-run game which the author has written for his daughters using Backbone (amiga-news.de reported). Since for some of the kids the game was still too difficult, an additional version with the following changes has been released:
- removed jump traps
- defused difficult jumps
- inserted "infinite" (50) lives
Little technical news:
- runs on Amiga 500/600 7 Mhz with Kick 2.04 and 1MB chip (but 14 Mhz are recommended)
- Fast RAM detection (from 2 MB Fast RAM onwards, the data is cached into the fast Fast RAM - disk recharging times during playing are therefore no longer necessary
- Gamepad support added eg. CD32 Gamepad (yellow shoot, blue jump)

#amigazeux has released a new screenbar module and two commodities for MorphOS: CPUGraph provides a realtime kinetic graphical representation of CPU utilisation on your titlebar, DimScreen will dim your screen to a settable percentage of its original brightness and MouseTracker records Mouse movements and clicks and can display them as realtime overlay.

MorphOS: E-Mail client Iris, beta version 45
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczeks "Iris" is supposed to become the standard mail program for MorphOS. It supports IMAP and can read and create HTML mails. The program requires MorphOS 3.10. You can give feedback to the author using the corresponding discussion on MorphZone.
The latest beta version fixes a bug "where Iris would send an email without contents if editing in html mode and some other html view was opened while editing." Besides, the toolbar was tweaked "to avoid inflating the size of the folders column."

Emulator: UAE4ALL2 for Nintendos Switch
For some time for Nintendo's video game console Switch a port of the Amiga emulator UAE4All2 is available. If you are going to install the emulator you first have to change the software setup of your console: But this is only possible for consoles sold before summer of 2018 - and there it can cause problems with the online function.

Game Construction Kit: RedPill 0.6.9 (Alpha)
RedPill is a Game Construction Kit written in AmiBlitz2, which can help developing games of diverse genres - published videos show versions of Pacman and Mirror. RedPill is compatible to AGA and ECS, the "player" requires 1 MB Chip as well as some Fast RAM.
Changes of version 0.6.9:
- Joystick button reading has been changed as it was behaving oddly in WinUAE. On real Amiga it was fine
- Action trigger Recoil has been added
- In Level editing, multitile grabbing support has been fixed to work fine in all places of the tileset
- Spritesheet autoslice was causing a crash in some cases, this has been fixed
- Spritesheet autoslice now shows progress visually
- There was a bug on scroll init that in some causes was showing wrong tiles in the initial screens
- Added confirmation request when exiting the program

Print magazine: 6th issue of "Amiga User" in February
Next month the sixth issue of the Polish, English-language print magazine "Amiga User" will be published by Adama Zalepa. As usual it will have 90 coloured pages and will be also available as e-book.
Topics among others will be hardware extensions for all Amiga models, LCD monitors and reading of non-DOS disks.
