Platformer: Jump'n Bump (beta version)
Erik 'earok' Hogan has released a first beta version of his port of the game Jump'n Bump using his Scorpion Engine, which essentially contains the core functions of the original game, but has not yet been extensively tested, so there may still be a few bugs here and there. New features:
  • Title screen (eg, player select)
  • Players at same height repel each other
  • Butterflies
  • Score screen, including breakdown of each player's kills vs other players
Still to come:
  • Title screen text loop
  • Performance mode build for smooth gameplay on A500
  • Mega Drive conversion
  • Maybe additional levels derived from the original game's map packs?
  • AI and/or some form of single player mode

Tool: EmptyADF 1.0
After several beta versions, Darren 'dmcoles' Cole released the first stable version of "ReBuild" about a week ago, which should make it possible to create graphical user interfaces for ReAction, the evolution of ClassAct (amiga-news.de reported). Krzysztof Donat (bitplan) has now used ReBuild to create the EmptyADF tool, which can be used to generate empty ADF files. Main features:
  • creating DD (880 KB) or HD (1.76 MB) disk images
  • creating OFS or FFS disk images
  • creating images with or without system bootblock
  • creating disk images with your own label
  • completing system disk dates:
    • last root alteration date
    • last disk alteration date
    • filesystem creation date
He tested it under AmigaOS 3.2, but it should run on any Amiga with Kickstart 3.0+ and installed ReAction libraries. (dr)

Twin-Stick-Shooter: Pre-Order of boxed editions of Cecconoid
At the end of 2022, the musician, DJ and developer 'Hoffman' - for example the Amiga port of Knightmare - began porting the game "Cecconoid", originally published by "Triple Eh?": "an 8-bit inspired, flick-screen, twin-stick-shooter, set in an alternate dimension where the pixels are still chunky, and the bad guys are black and white. Except for their dangly red bits..." (YouTube video).

Now Thalamus Digital, an independent video game developer and publisher, is offering the game for pre-order in various boxed versions, which should be available in April 2024. As the developer explained to us when asked, the game has now been finalised and the digital version should also be available when the physical versions start shipping. (dr)

TCP/IP stack: Roadshow 1.15 released
Press release: "Slightly delayed by only 18 months (we are getting faster), the free Roadshow TCP/IP stack 1.15 update is now available to all customers.

This update is focused on improving installation and maintenance tasks, as well as making the installation documentation more useful and accessible. The single documentation file, still small in 2014, became increasingly unwieldy and has become a set of shorter files, each focused on one single aspect of Roadshow. By request, new documentation has been added which details all the files which will be installed for Roadshow.

Event: 10th Alternative Computer Meeting in Wolfsburg (Germany)
The 10th meeting for alternative operating systems and computers in the Dorfgemeinschaftshaus Flechtorf near Wolfsburg, Germany, will take place from June 28 to 30, 2024. All fans of home computers and consoles from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, as well as their clones and successors, are welcome.

According to the organizers, the Alternative Computer Meeting will remain mainly an Amiga event. For years, regular guests have included Entwickler X, Alinea Computer, Frank Mariak and members of A1K.org, and also further developers like Daniel Müßener, Costel Mincea and Martin Schüler have been there already.
