Andreas Kleinert removes PPC/WOS datatypes from the Aminet (Update)
Andreas Kleinert has, like can
be seen from the last extract of the recent file, removed his PPC/WOS
datatypes from the Aminet by placing empty archives there.
The appended readme says the following:
PPC/WOS support for this datatypes has been dropped as with V45.1.
Update 26.09.2002:
We asked Andreas Kleinert via e-mail the following question: Might you
give amiga-news.de a brief statement about the deletion of the PPC/WOS
datatypes at the Aminet?
Andreas Kleinert:
"I just wanted to "clean up" a little bit ;-)
The support for WOS was even stopped earlier, WOS user had to use the
ppclib-emu already.
The PPC support was abandoned with V45.1, regarding to the 68k only versions
45.x it would be irritating if the 44.x PPC modules were still left at he
Aminet.
Those who would like to use the 44.x 68k datatypes with the 44.x PPC plugins
should use the last recent public version from an Aminet CD. The (now) free
keyfile is still available from the Aminet."
Within a comment someone wrote: If you don't like to continue to support the
PPC versions of your datatypes it is your choice, but if you take the
possibility for registered users to download the latest version of theses
datatypes this is a shame in my view.
Andreas Kleinert:
This hasn't been my intention, I just wanted to avaoid trouble if people try
to use the 44.x PPC plugins in addition to version 45.x . The PPC modules
are still to get from the Aminet CDs. But one thing I have to state here:
My personal opinion is that the Aminet should not have to be seen as a
backup medium for everybody.

Warp3D V5 becomes NOVA
Hans-Jörg Frieden from Hyperion Entertainment states on the AmigaOS 4 mailing list: "Warp3D will be named 'NOVA' on OS 4 (Ami3D on AmigaDE). The initial release will still be Warp3D V4.x. The original plan called for Warp3D V5 to be delivered with OS 4, but that was at a time where we where to do Warp3D and OS 4 would come from someone else :-) In the final NOVA
release, we'll include developer guides, tutorials and example source
code, and hopefully one or two bigger show-off demos with source code."
