The biggest change which will be integrated in the next kernel-version 2.4.1 would be including of the Journaling File System ReiserFS. Already at the beginning of October Linus Torvalds explained in an interview with c`t that he will not include ReiserFS in kernel 2.4.0, but as soon as possible in the 2.4. line.
