 Web browser: NetSurf developer version 3.12, build 6872 for AmigaOS 3 and 4
In mid-July, Artur Jarosik released version 3.11 of his Amiga port of the NetSurf web browser. His implementation uses SDL, with only the default settings being MUI-based. In contrast, Chris Young's NetSurf version is ReAction-based. With the release today of developer version 6872 of version 3.12 for AmigaOS 3 and AmigaOS 4, Chris Young has completed his work on a series of bug fixes for the time being, which significantly enhance the AmigaOS 3 version in particular.

This should fix most of the image errors in the OS3 version for 16/24-bit screens and improve image processing in general. Colours have also been corrected and alpha blending added in 8-bit mode (and for JPEGs).

According to our initial test (Amiga 1200 with PiStorm-lite), the version runs very stably and relatively quickly, even if it does not quite match the performance of IBrowse. In the test, working on a 16-bit Workbench screen felt faster than on an 8-bit screen. Colours and backgrounds are displayed correctly. Scrolling has also been improved, although unlike the OS4 version, it is not possible to move the window content continuously. (dr)

 Immortal Joystick V2: Pre-order of Flight Stick and Self-Build kit
While version 2 of the Immortal Joystick, as reported, can still be pre-ordered (delivery date still to be confirmed), the shop also has two new offers:

At around 127 Euro, the Self-Build Kit is approximately 35 Euro cheaper than the pre-assembled version. The package contains all the parts required to build the joystick, as well as step-by-step assembly instructions and a link to an assembly video. Assembly involves soldering a circuit board to the back of the button connectors.

Another new addition to the range is the Flight-Stick Mini, which is also available for 127 Euro. It is designed for those who previously preferred joysticks such as the Quickshot. The photos on the website show the current prototype, which is still undergoing some improvements. (dr)

 Graphic Designer 0.6k (beta demo 1)
In mid-July, we reported on an early version of Graphic Designer: a graphics programme that allows users to design images by combining elements in up to twelve layers, which can then be saved as IFF image files (or ongoing projects).

These permanently freely placeable elements can be images, brushes, text or image overlays and brush stamps. However, all image elements must already use the same palette; an automatic adjustment is not planned. The first beta version is now available, featuring the following changes compared to the alpha version:
  • Palette Editor added.
  • Light/Dark features added to palette editor.
  • Layer Down fixed. Resize Brush H/V. Splash screen.
  • Added colour cycling. Palette editor size fix.
  • Scripting started. Save Project started. Transitions box.
  • Cycles moved to new box. Script working.
  • More work on Cycles box, seems done.
  • Text layers added. Move Text, and Text 2 Brush working.
  • Development of text entry box, 50% done.
  • Added shadow and outline to text box. Fixed button bugs.
  • Text box done. Typer effect for text in preview mode.
  • Bug fix pic load. Text Layer Move Up working.
  • Text Layer move Down working.
  • Bug Fix. Save Brush. Screen Modes Started.
  • Text Effects box. Default Palette Path edit box.
  • Experiments running the tool on WB screen, 1280 x 512.
