Hyperion: Evert Carton will back out
According to amigaworld.net under the title link, Evert Carton will back out from the Amiga scene. He will cancel his work for Hyperion Entertainment.

Hollywood 4.8 now with Linux support
Press release Airsoft Softwair is happy to annouce the immediate availability of Hollywood 4.8. This update contains mostly bug fixes and one great new feature requested by many people: Hollywood is now able to compile executables for Linux systems! With the ability of compiling for Linux systems Hollywood finally comes full circle because it now supports all major desktop operating systems. All in all, Hollywood can create programs for nine different platforms now: AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4, WarpOS, MorphOS, AROS, Windows, Mac OS X (Intel), Mac OS X (PowerPC) und Linux (Intel). A totally unique feature in the Amiga world!

Great care was taken to make Hollywood compiled executables as portable as possible across the many different Linux distros. Package dependencies were kept down to an absolute minimum: Only plain X11 - which should be present on any Linux system - is required by Hollywood executables! All other dependencies like gtk and ALSA for sound output are entirely optional: If they are installed, Hollywood will use them, if not, Hollywood will just run without them. Thus, Hollywood compiled executables will usually run straight out of the box on most common Linux distros. You definitely won't have to install dozens of packages before being able to run Hollywood executables!

Adventure-Interpreter: ScummVM ECS
With the release of version 1.2.x of the adventure interpreter ScummVM for ECS-Amigas (after versions for AGA and RTG) the project of the 68k-port was finished.

Programming contest
The Swiss Amiga trader Relec and Yannick Buchy (meta-morphos.org) have started a programming contest where a Efika-5200B with MorphOS licence computer can be won (picture).

Interested developers can send their projects which after their releases at least have to run under MorphOS and AmigaOS 4 until 31. May. Afterwards for one month you can vote for a project which will be ported. (snx) (Translation: dr)

AmigaOS 4: SabreMSN 0.76
James 'jahc' Carroll has published another update of his MUI-based MSN-Messenger SabreMSN for AmigaOS 4. Version 0.76 fixes a crash problem.

Filesystem: PFS3 5.3
After the release of version 5.1 of the Professional File System 3 under BSD-licence, Michiel Pelt has published version 5.3 from 1999 under the title link on Aminet.

Meanwhile Harry 'Piru' Sintonen is working on a new version of this filesystem. According to his latest status update he has already replaced all assembler parts by C-source code und has ported it to MorphOS.

AmigaOS 4: Audio-Player AmigaAMP 3.2
The third generation of the audio player AmigaAMP written by Thomas Wenzel is completely PPC-nativ. Changes in version 3.2:
  • Removed QUIET ToolType, added SKINPROGRESS instead.
  • Reverted to loading skins and plugins from PROGDIR: by default.
  • Added unicode support to ID3v2.3, added basic ID3v2.4 support.
  • Fixed DSI error when starting AmigaAMP in skin mode but not all elements could be loaded.
  • Added OGG support
  • Implemented loading base skin from memory.
  • Changed "shuffle" to "random play" behaviour.

MorphOS: IceFileSystem 2.4
Version 2.4 of the IceFileSystem was published which mainly includes bug fixes.

Changes:
  • Deleting file larger than "Max recycle bytes" no longer empties recycle dir. Max filesize in recycledir is now "Max recycle bytes" / 16 (if set)
  • New (optional) environment variable: ICE_AUTORETRYIO. Set it to 1..n for number of automatic retries of failed io requests
  • Smaller bug in automatic renaming of recycledir files fixed
  • action_seek() allowed seeking beyond file with internal error requester as result, fixed
  • IceSalv did not preserve file dates, fixed
  • IceCheck fixes/improvements
  • FSConfig got renamed to IceConfig
  • VInfo got renamed to IceInfo

Dreamcast: UAE4All RC3
Two weeks ago the third release candidate of the Amiga emulator UAE4All for the Sega Dreamcast was published. The speed was increased and the support was added for SD-cards. At Youtube a video is available.

Changes:
  • 30% speed increased: Sound and Video render improved
  • Savestates support: The length of a savestate file is 200-300KB, so SD-Card is needed
  • Dreamcast SD-Card support
  • New option menu for screen position
  • Uses latest FAME Motorola 68000 core: More stable, fast and accurate

MorphOS: Blender 2.57 RC1
Guillaume 'Yomgui' Roguez has published a first "release candidate" of his MorphOS port of the 3D graphic program Blender. The littlecms.library is required.

Please note that this RC1 may crash yet. Besides, you should not have an additional Python-3.1.x-installation because the version included in the package differs (you can keep version 2.x ).

ACube Systems: Firmware-Update for Sam460ex
ACube Systems has published a new version of the firmware used in the PPC-motherboard Sam460ex. Changes in this update called "UBoot 2010.06-05":
  • improved Radeon X1550, X1650, X1950 setup
  • fixed a bug in the PCI-E setup which cures a crash when both a gfx card and an USB3 card were used
  • DDR2 boost setup is now disabled by default, to enable it, set ddr2_boost to 1 from the U-Boot prompt
  • removed a debug output from ext2fs.c

Dave Haynie sells AAA-prototype "Nyx" on ebay
The former Commodore hardware developer Dave Haynie sells his collection of Commodore hardware, among others two old Amiga joysticks.

Antoine 'Tcheko' Dubourg has published the spellchecker.library which is meant for developers since currently there are no applications available which take use of it.

The algorithms Double Metaphone and Levenshtein-distance are used.
